An Emotional Rollercoaster of the noble but challenging journey.

As a child I was always angry with my mother who couldn’t take part in any of the Sunday outings or the late-night movies father planned for us. She stayed up for grandfather who was healthy enough in my eyes at least, to take care of himself. She made herself available throughout day and night, putting her needs for later. It never occurred to me that she was trying to take care of grandpa in all ways possible. Having elderly parents at home, now I realise the meaning of all her decisions then.

The role of a caregiver for aging parents is an emotionally demanding journey, and when viewed through the lens of a daughter, the complexities intensify.

Daughters often find themselves at the forefront of caregiving responsibilities, balancing the demands of their own lives with the increasing needs of the elderly parents.

Within this noble job of caregiving, women often find themselves shouldering a disproportionate burden.The struggles they face in balancing their own lives with the care of aging parents are a bit complicated. Caring for aging parents takes a toll on every daughter's emotional well-being. Witnessing the physical and mental decline of the ones who were once a source of strength is heartbreaking.

We often crumble with feelings of guilt, as we find it challenging to meet the expectations and needs of the parents while fulfilling other personal and professional responsibilities. The emotional burden is increased by the fear of losing a parent and the uncertainty that comes with aging. Caring for aging parents can lead to social isolation for some of us.

The demands of caregiving often limit their ability to engage in social activities, maintain friendships, or even take time for self-care. This isolation can add on to the feelings of loneliness and may end up in depression if not taken care of.

As a society, recognizing and addressing these challenges is essential to provide adequate support for daughters who selflessly take on the responsibility of caring for their aging parents.

I take this moment to shine spotlight on some truly extraordinary amazing daughters who are doing a noble job. Your selflessness, compassion, and unwavering commitment leave us awe. Thank you
