Like every year, ‘Shantiniketan’ has organized a 10-day ‘Apprenticeship program’ from 29th April, 2024 to 9th May, 2024 for the students of class 12th. The motto behind arranging this program is to help the students practically understand the professional work environment of the respective career they are willing to choose and help them give an insight into how things work.

With great enthusiasm and zeal, a Parent Orientation was scheduled on 23/04/2024 (Tuesday) in School Auditorium at 11.00 am. The honourable invitee speaker of the program was Mr. Ajaysinh Desai, the city’s reputed real estate developer who shed light on the benefits of this program.

Parents attended the programme where in all details regarding this program were addressed upon. They expressed their support and co-operation in this endeavour. They also expressed their gratitude, for conducting such events, which is one of its kind, for students, in Kolhapur city.

Shantiniketan Junior College had organized Declamation Competition on the auspicious occasion of 158th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Students declamated the best historic speeches given by the greatest leaders of history in their attire. It was the recreation of the best historic events !!

Students visited to Tararani fire station under CCA to imbibe the values of discipline and work ethics and to extend their knowledge of firefighters. They got hands on experience on fire safety & a very important community helper - the fire fighter. Students got to know how fire fighters use their fire truck in an emergency. The fire fighters showed them the different equipments and demonstrated the use of fire extinguisher.
It was fun filled & informative experience which the children can use to associate with their immediate environment.

Kolhapur Institute of Technology(KIT) had organized the prestigious KIT-MUN(Model United Nations) wherein prominent educational institutions of Kolhapur had participated.

This 3-day event ie. from 20th to 22nd April, witnessed the participation of our Jr. College students, with thorough zeal and enthusiasm. The students effortlessly won laurels for the Jr. College by showcasing their hidden talents.

The awards were in the respective categories :

3. Special Mention : Pratyancha More (UNGA - DISEC)

We had arranged a one day picnic for our ancillary staff ( drivers, gardeners, cleaners, attendants and security guards )to Urmila farms, Gaganbavada, wherein they thoroughly enjoyed and had fun right from breakfast, lunch to evening high tea.

Our students from ATAL Lab , made beautiful sustainable jewellery from seeds of a wild plant ( botanical name- Abrus precatorius Linn.), marathi name Ratangunja) under the able guidance of our lab teacher.
These seeds were chemically treated first so as to enhance thier life, color n to kee them stay away from insects .
Our students sold these jewellery sets to parents, who appreciated and encouraged kids about sustainability.

St. Xavier’s cup football tournament was held on 14th & 15th April on the Xavier’s ground. Our Under- 12 Boys team won the finals and lifted the Xavier’s Cup.

Shantiniketan Jr College had organized a Trek to Rangana on 13th April 2024 (Saturday).
Students eagerly participated in the trek and it was a mesmering experience of walking with friends.
66 students & 7 educators enjoyed walking through the woods. Breakfast & lunch was provided to refresh them. Indeed they had very memorable experience.

An Orientation Programme was conducted for the parents of Grade 5 coming to Grade 6, where they were introduced to the Eklavya Program, which will be a vital part of the academic year 2024-25. The session commenced with an engaging “Flavours of Math” display, where students creatively presented various delicacies and seamlessly integrated concepts from different subjects, highlighting the program’s interdisciplinary approach. Subsequently, parents received a detailed overview of the structure and functioning of the Eklavya Program from the Coordinator in the auditorium. Grade 6 and 7 students confidently shared their Eklavya journey, accompanied by images of their activities. Furthermore, Eklavya’s Chief Innovation Officer, Smt. Alka Vaidya, provided valuable insights into the program’s significance for this age group, emphasizing its numerous benefits. Overall, the orientation effectively conveyed the essence and objectives of the Eklavya Program to the participating parents, setting a promising tone for the upcoming academic year.

Dr. Amit Pawar, a distinguished ophthalmologist, echoed this sentiment as he conducted an enlightening session on the significance of eye health care. During the session, Dr. Pawar elaborated on various eye conditions such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, while also providing valuable insights into maintaining optimal eye health. He emphasized the importance of managing screen time, adopting a healthy diet, and engaging in eye exercises. The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to ask questions, enabling Dr. Pawar to address their queries comprehensively and ensure they were well-informed about eye care practices.
