There are three tyoes of pain killers commonly prescribed by the doctors
1. Acetaminophen, paracetamol is one of the commonly used analgesics to control fever. However, this medicine is also used to relieve pain along with being the first line of treatment for high body temperature.
2. NSAIDs are the common painkillers which reduce pain, fever and inflammation. But unlike other anti-inflammatory medicine, they do not contain steroids.
3. Opioids are undoubtedly one of the strongest analgesics available in the market. These are commonly used to treat moderate to severe pain which could be acute or chronic.

KOLKATA: Covid has failed to break, once and for all, the chain of defensive treatment by doctors and hospitals as more and more - and, often, unnecessary - diagnostic tests continue to be performed to guard against rising doctor-patient skirmishes.
Repeated incidents of violence had forced doctors to resort to "defensive treatment" instead of going by gut feeling or clinical examinations, which could hasten diagnosis and recovery, said a section of doctors, calling for measures to strengthen patient-doctor relationship.

A study found that a single jab of the measles vaccine could be more likely to be ineffective in children born by C-section, compared to those born naturally.
A single jab of the double-dose measles vaccine could be up to 2.6 times more likely to be completely ineffective in children born by C-section, compared to those born naturally, new research has found. Researchers said that failure of the vaccine meant that the child's immune system does not produce antibodies to fight against a measles infection, and therefore, remains vulnerable to the disease.

Maharashtra has recorded 91 cases of the new FLiRT COVID-19 variants, which also accounts for more than a third of cases in the US. However, there is no cause for worry as of now, a top expert said on Sunday.
The new set of variants dubbed FLiRT, majorly includes KP.1.1, and KP.2 strains. These are named based on the technical names for their mutations, one of which includes the letters "F" and "L", and another of which includes the letters "R" and "T".

he exact mechanism of how paracetamol reduces fever isn't fully understood, but scientists believe it works in the brain. Here's the general idea:
The hypothalamus acts like a thermostat: This part of your brain controls your body temperature.
Infection or illness triggers fever: When you're sick, substances called pyrogens are released. These pyrogens signal the hypothalamus to raise your body's temperature set point, causing a fever.
Paracetamol affects fever-regulating chemicals: It's thought to work in the hypothalamus, possibly by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are chemicals that contribute to fever by influencing the temperature set point.
Body temperature adjusts: By reducing prostaglandins, paracetamol may help reset the hypothalamus's set point back to normal, allowing your body temperature to decrease.
It's important to note that paracetamol primarily treats the symptom (fever) rather than the underlying cause of the illness. If you have a fever, it's advisable to consult a doctor to determine the cause and get proper treatment.
Bloating and gas are common digestive complaints that can be caused by a variety of factors, including:
Swallowing air while eating or drinking
Eating certain foods, such as beans, cruciferous vegetables (like broccoli and cauliflower), and dairy products
Food intolerances, such as lactose intolerance or gluten intolerance
Constipation
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
Other digestive conditions

Summer Skin Savvy: Keep Your Glow Going All Season Long
Summer brings sunshine, vacations, and... skin challenges. But don't worry, with a few tweaks to your routine, you can keep your skin healthy and radiant all season. Here are some summer skincare tips:
Sun Protection is Non-Negotiable:
SPF is your BFF: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every day, even on cloudy days. Reapply every two hours, and more often if you're sweating or swimming.
Seek shade: The sun is strongest between 10 am and 4 pm. Relax under an umbrella or wear protective clothing like wide-brimmed hats.
Hydration is Key:
Drink plenty of water: Aim for eight glasses a day to keep your skin plump and hydrated from the inside out.
Lighten up your moisturizer: Switch to a lighter, oil-free moisturizer to avoid clogging pores.
Soothing after-sun care: After sun exposure, cool your skin with aloe vera gel or a hydrating mist.
Summer Skincare Tweaks:
Exfoliate regularly: Get rid of dead skin cells to promote healthy cell turnover and a brighter complexion. Opt for a gentle exfoliator suitable for your skin type.
Embrace antioxidants: Antioxidants help fight free radical damage caused by the sun. Look for serums or moisturizers with ingredients like vitamin C or green tea extract.
Light makeup for light days: Opt for lightweight, mineral-based makeup to avoid clogging pores.
Bonus Tip: Diet Makes a Difference!
Eat your fruits and veggies: Load up on antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables to nourish your skin from within.
By following these tips, you can keep your skin healthy, happy, and glowing all summer long. Remember, consistency is key! Enjoy the sunshine, but take care of your skin – it's your body's largest organ!
