Day 1
-- We pick you up from Guwahati ( Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport) at 12 noon.
-- Travel to Shillong via Dipur Bil and Umiam Lake
-- Explore the surrounding by foot in the evening.

Day 2
-- Post breakfast leave Shillong. Sightseeings include Elephant falls, Airforce museum, Mawphlang Sacred forest and Laitlum Canyon.
-- Overnight stay at Cherrapunji.

Day3
-- Post breakfast leave for sight-seeing. Sight-seeing include Garden of caves, Arwah caves, Nohkalikai waterfalls, Seven sister waterfalls, Kynrem waterfalls.
-- Nightstay at Cherrapunji.

Day4
-- Post breakfast we leave Cherrapunji for Nongriat Double Decker Living Root Bridge trek.
-- Nightstay in Asia's cleanest village Mawlynnong

-- Post breakfast, Leave for Krang Suri and Phe Phe waterfalls.
-- Nightstay at Shillong. Phe ohe is a short hiking trail . A little over 3 kms in total, going and coming back.

A big hiii from Soma's Camps. Our Majuli tourpage is up on the website. Please navigate to the tourpage and find the details. Stays are on double sharing basis except one which is built by two French architects. It houses three people. Otherwise all stays are on double sharing basis. We also have a special trip for the group. A visit to the Molai island, it is the biggest man made forest in the world, created by Padmashree Jadav Payeng. He built the forest from ground zero, when he was a small boy without knowing he'd be making the largest man made forest someday. It is big and is home to wild animals that crossed the Brahmaputra and swam from Kaziranga to this forest. He will personally be there to show us around the island, if he is not flown off to another country for some seminar already.And what is more fun is that we will have our own private cruise on Brahmaputra to reach Molai. Please understand that Raas Utsav goes on all through the night. There is gayen bayen, then dramas and dance performances...all beautifully performed by the satras( monasteries). They are so beautiful and colorful that they draw a lot of foreigners from different corners of the globe apart from the Indian crowds. I have carefully curated the program in such a way that you can also get some sleep after you come back to the accommodations. We have sightseeing during the daytime too. Hi! I got back from Majuli on 6th March and just so that you know we are organising a trip to the largest riverine island in the world, Majuli in Assam, this November. November 15th to 18th to be precise. Why Majuli? Why in November?You might ask. Because those are the Raas Mahotsav days, a centuries old tradition of the people of the island to pay their obeisance to Lord Krishna by enacting his Raas Leela, a spectacular event that draws people from all over the world to this island which is in UNESCO's tentative list of world heritage sites . Many of you might know Majuli as a spiritual and religious site. But Majuli is more than that. Majuli is home to a number of birds like Yellow Bitterns, Lesser Adjutant Storks, Fishing Eagles, Lineated barbets, Oriental Magpie Robins, Shrikes, Redstarts, Kingfishers and many many more. Majuli is also the home of the Mising tribe who have their cultural and social backdrops rooted in the lands of Hwang Ho and Yang-sze-kiang. Let us explore Majuli together, have a traditional lunch in the village of Bengenati, visit the monasteries ( satras) of Uttar Kamalabari, Aunati, Dakshin Pata, Samaguri (the famous mask making satra) and Salmora village(where clay pots are made without using potters wheel), two old museums which houses artefacts and utensils belonging to the the Ahom reigns and Molai Forest Reserve, the world's largest single handedly man made forest created by Padmashree Jadhav Payeng. There is another Meghalaya deep inside the recesses of the Meghalaya that we know. The wilder and more gorgeous and sometimes a tad spine-chilling Meghalaya, who can be found only when you are walking into her wilderness. We have curated our program weaving in some of those trails. The David Scott trail, The Rainbow waterfall trail, The Mawryngkhang trail.

The David Scott trail dates back to the first half of the 1800s when a British administrator, named David Scott, discovered this trail in the form of a mule track to travel to Bangladesh from Assam. The entire trail covered a distance of 130 kms from Assam to Bangladesh after it was developed. The current trail, which is about 16 kms from Mawphlang to Lad Mawphlang, meanders through some of the most beautiful terrains of the Eastern Khasi hills.

For the Rainbow waterfalls, you hike down to the famous Double Decker living root bridge at Nongriat and proceed further, going beyond the blue lagoon to reach the Rainbow waterfalls. We stay a day there, in a homestay, close to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge. How can we miss taking a dip in the pool at the base of the stream?

In the last leg of our program, we are going to walk on a trail of bamboo attached to the steep surfaces of gorges as we see a beautiful river course right underneath it. There you have the scariest trek in Meghalaya. The Mawryngkhang Bamboo trek. Just so that you know, the entire trail solely built by the villagers, is sometimes a continuous walkway traversing near vertical cliffs with dizzying drops at the left. And the entire length of the trail, which circumnavigates the huge rock , U Mawrungkhang, is made by piecing together bamboos.

Our itinerary also includes the cave systems of Mawsmai and Arwah, The first one known for its subterranean labyrinth of amazing stalactite and stalagmite formations and the second for its rich deposit of fossils and limestone formations which are millions of years old and a rivulet that always runs under your feet sometimes sinking your ankles.

We have curated the program keeping in mind that you might want to see the cherry blossoms blooming all over Shillong and the adjacent places.
