promote and invigorate art and culture in the fields of Film and Drama, Music and Dance, Literature, and Painting and Sculpture. Now a days, it is widely known that art and culture have been reduced to a standard that has almost succeeded in instilling within a person a state of utter restlessness leading to chaos, confusion and disintegration in family and social texture. In last several years, art and culture have practically been so much so deformed and disfigured by the sharp blows of excessive modernization mainly due to its commercialization that it has resulted in loss of sublimity, charms and excellence. The members, sympathysers and followers of INFAC have taken upon themselves the onerous task of reversing the trend setting our society in a new motion. Aim: At the global headquarter at kolkata, it is intended to develop a place where the four wings of art and culture will be housed and nourished, where interested persons will get a chance to interact with each other in an environment friendly atmosphere, where persons can enrich themselves with the knowledge gained, where young talents will get chance to focus their worth, where economy based on cultural activities and surrounding the culture will develop to the mutual benefit of all including those living in adjacent areas, where the poor and the indigent candidates having the inclination to develop themselves in any of the specified areas of cultural activities may not have to suffer in anguished silence and live in the despair of helplessness and frustration. Such a complex is intended to be built-up with the state of the art technology with spread over facilities of archives, museums, auditorium, international guest house, cottages, food plaza, workshop centers and many more. Activities: INFAC with the active cooperation of the members of the artist fraternity belonging to painting and Sculpture and in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and others held two art workshop camps- one in 2006 and the other in 2007, at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata. While the 1st camp was attended by 249 artists, more than 550 artists attended the 2nd camp. Artists from all over India and from France, England, Japan, Srilanka, Bangladesh participated at the camps. The veteran octogenarian painter Shri Paritosh Sen was bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inauguration of the 1st camp. Shri Sunil Kumar Paul, the nonagerian vetaran sculptor was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inauguration of the 2nd camp. The other award winners in different fields at the 2nd camp inauguration were:Shri Suhas Roy(Painting), Shri Minal Sen(Film), Syed Mustafa Siraj(Literature), and Shri Hariprasad Chaurasia(Music). With the art works of the artists who participated at the 1st camp, an exhibition was held at Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, on and from 15th to 21st March, 2006 . In the field of painting and sculpture, INFAC's motto is to help providing aspiring artists a proper working atmosphere and give them the necessary back up in order that their talent may get proper exposure. The Music Division of INFAC in association with Sa re ga ma HMV presented a young talent Smt. Rajlakshmi Ghosh at Kala Mandir, Kolkata, on 9th May, 2007, to play an almost extinct musical instrument, namely, piano. On the occasion of the World Music Day on 21st June, 2007, the Music Division presented a colourful sangeet sandhya at Mahanayak Uttam Mancha, Kolkata, where Shri Biman Mukhopadhyay known as the store house old Bengali music and Smt. Haimanti Sukla enthralled the audience. To find new talents from amongst the young persons, INFAC will give cash award of Rs. 50000/- to two deserving candidates - a boy and a girl- to be shared equa1ly. Cash award apart, the boy and the girl to be so chosen will be provided free education till the school leaving year and be placed under the care of eminent music trainers. Such facilities, however, will be made available to persons having no means to make both ends meet a day. INFAC's venture and motto is pro-music and pro-musicians, that it is to say, INFAC will encourage all sorts of music ,promote and encourage young singers and provide them platform to show their talents. Social obligation: INFAC in fulfilling its social obligation has created an artist welfare fund with the money donated by Shri Paritosh Sen. The aim is to create a corpus fund of Rs. 3 (three) crore for the purpose of helping the artists in distress without any discrimination of caste, creed, religion and s*x.
