Keerthi Pais

______________

Chairman of the National Sport Climbing Committee under Indian Mountaineering Foundation, Keerthi Pais has been the guiding force in placing India at the international map of sport climbing.

A noted sport climber and route setter in his time, Keerthi Pais is one of the Vice Presidents of the Asian chapter of International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) which is the apex body of this game in the world. He deserves the credit for India's entry at the last Asian Games at Djakarta and the next one to be held at Hangjhow, China later this year.

Shri Pais is an Advisor in General Thimaiya National Adventure Academy under the government of Karnataka and has been working tirelessly for spreading the game in different parts of the country,

This academy has been successful in bringing a number of international sport climbing events in India including the Asian Sub-Junior Sport Climbing Championship held at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand last year where India bagged as many as 16 of medals in different categories.

As a rolling stone in West Bengal Education Services since 1994, Parimal Bhattacharya has gathered moss Darjeeling, Krishnanagar, Chandernagar, serving the government colleges there respectively until he joined the Dept. of English, Maulana Azad College.

He is a bilingual writer and translator and authored many books like ‘Bells of Shangri-LA’, ‘No path in Darjeeling is straight’, ‘Field notes from a Waterborne Land’, ‘A Face of Bengal’, ‘Dodopakhider Gan’, ‘Darjeeling Smriti Samaj Itihas’, ‘Bargman Apni’, ‘Nahumer Gram’, ‘A New Cold War” and many others.

AKHIL BAKSHI

A management expert turned globe trotter Akhil Bakshi has been travelling around the world since early years of his life.

On completing his management studies from Germany and USA, Akhil Bakshi assisted Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in initiating, implementing and monitoring development programs in Amethi. He was the first Director General of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and also served as an Officer on Special Duty to the Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao helping initiate several national programs for social and rural development. He has successfully merged his interest in public service and adventure.

In 1994, he led the Central Asia Expedition - a goodwill mission to Central Asia and Tibet. In 1995-1996, he led the Azad Hind Expedition to refresh the national memory with the sacrifices made by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and his Indian National Army for India's liberation. In 2006, he led the 25000 km Gondwanaland Expedition, a scientific and friendship mission to 17 countries of West Asia and Africa. In 2013, he undertook the Pangea One World Expedition – a 32000km journey from the Arctic to Antarctic to study the national responses of the climate change of 14 countries he traversed through.

A Fellow of Royal Geographical Society, Fellow of the Explorers Club USA, twice Vice President of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, Editor of Indian Mountaineer for the last 18 years, Akhil Bakshi has travelled extensively through 121 countries and written 27 books.

Dr. Tilak Ranjan Bera -

An avid nature lover and a passionate photographer , Dr. Bera has explored a number of remote areas documenting their unique features. His long service in the Defense got him opportunities to explore several little known areas of India.

Over a period of time, he developed an interest in Indology and has since then dedicated his life to arrange the pre-recorded past. While researching on this, he introduced quite a few ‘never-thought-of-ideas’ that resulted in developing a new set of tools to conceptualize the pre-recorded past of India.

His approach is so unique that we are compelled to look at our history with a new perspective. Meticulous presentation of events and excellent photographs make his books a collector’s choice.
