AIITEU statement against Narayan Murthy and other tech founders calling for 70 hour workweek. It is trying to set a horrible precedent to completely do away with highly violated overtime law and create higher gender disparity by creating a misconception about productivity which actually decreases with higher working hours - Read here - https://www.aiiteu.org/press-releases/aiiteu-statement-condemning-tech-billionaire-narayan-murthys-proposal-of-longer-working-hours/

02/11/2023

The All India IT Employees Union (AIITEU) strongly condemns Infosys co-founder NR Narayan Murthy and other tech billionaires' statements advocating for a 70-hour work week. Mr. Murthy in a recent interview said that India’s productivity is one of the lowest in the world and needs improvement. His reductive solution to this issue is that young people should be willing to work 70 hours a week. Murthy was supported by like-minded tech-preneurs like TV Mohandas Pai and Ola Cabs co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal on social media.

AIITEU strongly opposes the consistent onslaught on workers' rights by the capitalist classes who are facing a systematic crisis wherein the only way to safeguard profits and wealth is through intensifying the exploitation of their workers. AIITEU asserts that it will continue its fight against the nexus between the capitalist tech billionaires and the anti-worker government who are unwilling to protect employee’s rights and lives.

Employee Grievance Details 28/03/2023

Dear Members,

We are certain that you all are already aware of the illegal retrenchments happening in IT and ITeS sector. This catastrophe is not limited to a specific state or our country. The beginning of the new year 2023 has not been happy at all for the IT/ITeS workers across the globe. The paranoia of an economic downturn made Fortune 500 companies initiate a downsizing practice. Goldman Sachs, EY, Amazon, Meta, Google and many more have already started laying off people citing reasons that hardly are within the workers’ control. The message is clear; when the ships are about to capsize, only the founders and owners will receive life-jackets. We, the IT/ITeS workers, will be thrown overboard without any scintilla of doubt.

The danger of job loss that is lurking overhead can hit any one of us anytime. It is now, more than ever, that we must be empathetic, unite and fight together, for each other. AIITEU has always taken immediate measures to ensure the rights of union members against any malpractices at workplace. So if you are facing any employment related issue at workplace kindly submit the form without any hesitation. Also don't forget to share it with your colleagues and friends from IT and ITeS sector and spread awareness about workers' rights. Make sure you articulate the issue properly and send an email to [email protected] before submitting the form. It will help us in reviewing all the legal aspects that could apply to your issue and to arrange the required documents. AIITEU Legal team will revert back within 3-4 working days.

Sincerely yours,
AIITEU.

On 24th March 2023 , Friday evening , All India IT and ITeS Employees' Union (AIITEU ) organised a match in support of Krishak Sramik Sangharsh Morcha on 5th April in Delhi and in protest of the bloodbath that is happening in the IT industry for some time now in the name of the upcoming recession in 2024.
From 1st January 2023 to till date , on an average 3200 employees have been retrenched every day across the global IT industry.
But this statistics is only limited to the CMMI level 4 and level 5 companies.
In India multiple companies and start ups have stopped their operations resulted to mass retrenchments and thereby unemployment in the country.
In sector V , WestBengal only Companies like Everika has stopped their operations on a single day notice resulting to an unemployment of 178 people. Companies like Netscribe are intentionally demoting their permanent workforce to a temporary one with a lesser salary. If the employee disagrees to do so he/She is getting retrenched without any releasing document or notice period and thereby ruining their career .
Indian Multinationals such as Wipro have broken their own offering contract to the new joiners asking them to join with a reduced CTC of 3.5 lakhs per annum instead of 6.5 lakhs per annum.
Multinationals like Accenture Services Pvt. Ltd. has officially mailed and intimated their employees about a 19,000 layoff in this current financial cycle even when the company has resulted in good growth in the previous Financial Quarter .
Before the March , a mass signature collection program was organised in support of the deputation that our union is putting forward to the responsible ministries in order to put a control on the atrocities and end the malpractices done by the corporate bodies on the country workforce in the name of growth and profit.
Hundreds of IT , BPO , Networking , Hardware ,IT sales employees joined the march .
At the end of the march a street corner was organised where CITU all India and state leaderships joined to discuss and understand the 14 point agenda of CITU put forward on 5 th April 2023 .

The IT sector in India is rife with regressive attitudes towards q***r workers with little legal recourse available. organised consultations with LBGTQ+ IT workers and framed this demand charter! Spread the word.

Laws and policies to protect q***r workers often end up making the workplace a more welcoming and accommodating place for all workers.
