Chhath puja, a festival dedicated to solar deity, Surya, stems from the early Vedic period , where sages would fast for days and perform the puja with mantras from Rigveda. Devi Chhathi Mata, the sixth form of devi Prakriti and sister of God Surya is also worshipped on the sixth day of the lunar month of Kartika i.e. chhath puja. With sequent flow of time, rituals of the festival change, but is still the source of harmony and even in the progressive busy civilization, people show their gratitude to the nature and sun, by performing fast, holy bath and offer prasad and arghya to the setting and rising sun. The unique bond and cordiality between mortal and immortal is the strongest foundation of this festival from era to era.
