Baramulla Wins U-17 Provincial Cricket Tourney
ANANTNAG– Baramulla lifted the Under-17 Provincial Cricket Tournament on Friday after defeating Kulgam by 4 wickets in the final played at Anantnag.
The Under-17 tourney was part of the Provincial Level Cricket Tournament for U-14, U-17 and U-19 Boys, organised by Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Kashmir and hosted by District Youth Services & Sports Officer Anantnag. All 10 districts of Kashmir Valley are participating in this tournament. The boarding and lodging arrangements have been made by DYSS Anantnag.
In the final match, Baramulla won the toss and elected to field first. Kulgam set a target of 133 runs in the allotted overs, with Shahzad Ayan 45 (38) and Tahir 31 (20) top scoring for the team. Chasing the target, Faizan Ibrahim played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 54* (36) while Ayan Tariq made 32 (28), as Baramulla lifted the title in a thrilling last-ball encounter.
At the closing ceremony, trophies were distributed among the two finalists. Faizan Ibhrahim from Baramulla was declared man of the match and man of the series for his incredible performances throughout the tournament.
Srinagar- Director School Education Kashmir on Saturday ordered change in school timing for all educational institutions within the municipal limits of Srinagar city from October 01. According to an order, the new timings for all schools will be from 9 am to 3 pm from tomorrow.
“In supersession of all previous orders, it is hereby ordered that all the government and private recognized schools within the municipal limits of Srinagar city shall observe school timings from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM, from Oct 01,” reads the order.

Four houses damaged in Srinagar fire mishap.
At least four houses were damaged in a fire mishap in Alamgari Bazar area of central Kashmir Srinagar district on Sunday.
An official said that fire broke out at Ganie Doori Alamgaribazar, in which four houses got damaged.
The damaged houses belong to Parveez Ah Mir son of late Gh Mohhudain Mir,Zaffar Ahmad Malla son of Ali Mohammad Malla, Dilawar Hussain Malla son of Ali Mohammad Malla and Gh Ahmad Dar s/o Mohammad Sultan Dar.
He said that initial investigation suggest that short circuit was reason behind fire incident, however, further investigation has been taken up. (KS)
18-year-old girl hangs self to death in Reasi
A teenage girl on Sunday allegedly committed su***de by hanging herself to death in Katra area of Reasi district on Sunday.
A police officer said that the girl (18) hanged herself to death at her residence in Ramnagar of Udhampur.
He said that she was rushed to CHC Katra where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation. (KS)
One dead, 2 injured in Kulgam road accident
A man died while twi others were injured in a road accident in Khur Batpora area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district last evening, officials said on Sunday.
An official said that the accident took place Saturday evening when a speedy vehicle hit a motorcycle in Khur Batpora, resulting in injuries to 3 persons.
He said all injured were shifted to district hospital Kulgam where from two of them were referred to SKIMS Soura. “Later one among them succumbed to his injuries.”
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Rafiq Malik son of Abdul Rashid Malik, while injured have been identified as Bashir Ahmad son of Abdul Ganie and Mushtaq Ahmad Malik son of Ghulam Qadir Malik—all residents of Khur Batpora.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident. (KNO)
Female tourist dies in Srinagar.
A lady tourist from Kolkata died in summer capital Srinagar on Sunday, officials said.
They said that one tourist was found unconscious in Srinagar following which she was shifted to SMHS hospital.
They said that lady identified as Subita Goush (60) wife of Shumboo Goush resident of Howrah Kolkata was declared brought dead at SMHS Srinagar.
Meanwhile, further proceedings have been initiated in this regard. (KS)
Major Infiltration Bid Foiled by Indian Army in Poonch Sector

On the intervening night of 8/9 Apr 2023, alert troops of Indian Army on the LoC in the Poonch Sector(J&K), detected some suspicious movement of a group individuals. The individuals were challenged by Indian Army troops on own side of LoC, close to the fence. On being intercepted, in the ensuing operations, one dead body has been seen and the other intruders ran into the forest area. Cordon of the area has been established and search operation is in progress.
