DC Kupwara Chairs Public Darbar in the Remotest Hinterland of Kupwara District, Jumagand, near LOC
Kupwara, January 20: In an extraordinary display of dedication and commitment to public service, the Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara, Ms Aushi Sudan chaired a Public Darbar in an inaccessible and far-flung area, Jumagand, today to listen to the grievances of the people. The residents of the area, who face unique challenges due to their geographical location, expressed their appreciation for the initiative.
Despite the logistical challenges posed by the location near the LOC and the harsh winter conditions, the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, along with SSP Kupwara, Yugal Manhas, ACD Kupwara Dr Mudassir, Tehsildar Tregham Mudassir Skindler and all other concerned officers of the District Administration, successfully conducted the Public Darbar.
During the Public Darbar, the residents had the opportunity to voice their grievances directly to the Deputy Commissioner on vide variety of issues ranging from road, electricity, promotion of tourism, shortage of staff in School, non- availability of ambulance, scaling up of the ration quota to old age pension etc.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that it is encouraging to see youth showing interest on wide variety of the issues. She assured the locals that a special Kisan Sampark Abhiyan will be carried out in the Area and Viksit Bharat Van will also be coming again to generate awareness among the masses about welfare schemes of the govt.
DC said that all the corrective measure will be taken to address issues of Education, Health and electricity etc and tourism infrastructure will also be created to bring this area at par with other border areas like Keran and Karnah. However, she emphasised that given the unique geographical challenges of the area, agriculture and education are the two very promising areas to invest in for the economic development of the area.
She impressed upon the officers to give special focus to such far off areas and ensure saturation of all the welfare schemes on priority.
The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, in making the seemingly impossible task of conducting a Public Darbar in such challenging conditions possible, has set a commendable example for public servants across the region. This outreach program serves as a model for effective governance and responsiveness to the needs of citizens, particularly in areas that are often overlooked or face unique challenges.
The UT government and the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara's commitment to reaching out to the people in the remotest corners reflect a vision of inclusive and accessible governance that goes beyond administrative boundaries. Such initiatives contribute significantly to building trust and strengthening the bond between the administration and the public, fostering a sense of collective responsibility for the development and well-being of the community.
