Anxiety and worry are often interchangeably used or confused with one another.
Although anxiety does includes excessive worrying, but worrying doesn't always mean anxiety.
Worry usually includes something specific. For example worrying about a an upcoming interview or performance, can be managed by problem solving.
Anxiety includes excessive worrying about several different things and isn't usually specific about one thing but generalized, marked by catastrophic thinking.

Everyone from time to time gets a little worried or anxious..

The way anxiety feels or may present itself can be slightly different for everyone, depending upon the individual, if it's a specific type and even the severity of it.
Most people experience worry and anxiousness from time to time when doing a certain thing like public speaking or intervening for a job, et cetera.
We may experience anxiety when we anticipate/fear a future event and we perceive it as a threat and we underestimate our coping skills towards that threat.

Things might seem really hard and difficult to manage right now..
And I understand that maintaing a positive outlook on it may seem weird...
. there is nothing wrong with it..
It's okay to be not able to keep a positive outlook on it..
It's okay to feel whatever you are feeling..no feeling is wrong or undesirable..They are all valid and they help us understand ourselves and the world.
It's going to take time..but you'll get better at managing it..and things will get better 🍀.
And I am sorry you're going through this..

What creates and solidifies these myths ?
Is it all hearsay?
Over recent years, mental health has slowly been crawled out from the shadows. after being sidelined for years and years.
Our psychological-emotional well-being is gradually receiving the much deserved and essential attention.
I like to think it is on us to not have been vigilant enough that it was getting side tracked.
We had and still have many myths and apprehensions surrounding our physiological/physical health as well, but we have constantly worked towards spreading awareness and getting people to acknowledge thier physical health.
While, WHO states, "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."
But this little emphasis on the mental health and lack of awareness influenced how we looked at health. Health mostly became a synonym to the physical aspect of it.
But with more people coming out and speaking about mental health, mental health well-being and living with mental health vulnerabilities , we are progressing towards destigmatizing the whole outdated assumptions and apprehensions surrouding it.
and with pscho-education and spreading more and more awareness, the more responsible and correct information we are armed with, the less likely we are to allow the myths and assumptions to colour our opinions.
As the year 2020 passed and 2021 continues unbated, the mental health well-being of many of us has taken a beating, and addressing the myths and assumptions related to our mental-health well-being has become more pressing than ever.

Practice self care, self compassion.
Self-compassion is important and essential because when we're able to be gentle with ourselves in the midst of shame and or any other unhelpful emotion, we're more likely to reach out, connect, and experience empathy.
If your compassion does not include yourself it's incomplete.

Many times we may have little to no idea that we might be stuck in a rut cycle like this.
It may seem like an odd statement: How does one not notice getting or being stuck?
But what does being in a rut mean? It may present itself in a habit or pattern of behaviour that has become dull and unproductive but is hard to change.
It may present itself as:
• "How are you?" and you may genuinely say something like, "Meh."
• You'd like to get creative and\or get certain things done, but you may have thoughts, that you may never have enough time or even energy for it.
• And by the time you get "free or enough time" you are too exhausted to do that something interesting or are just plain unmotivated.
• You may have that to-do-list and you keeping checking things off your to-do-list as well, but it may still FEEL like you are not getting much done.
• You maybe constantly hearing yourself or thinking to yourself and complaining about feeling stressed, tired, and unfulfilled.
........ even though you may think if you made a change you'd be happier and at peace, but it seems more comforting to stay the same and mope about it.
This may also look like low moods, low energy, loss of interest and/or energy, and general anhedonia (loss of pleasure) being self-critical and then feeling low about it.
This cycle may last years and often goes unnoticed.
If you recognize yourself or someone close to you in such a loop, it might benefit to think about seeking help and talking to a professional !

"WHAT MAY HAVE SEEMED USUAL BEFORE THF PANDEMIC MIGHT SEEM DIFFICULT AND OVERWHELMING NOW."
The uncertainty surrounding coronavirus could be for many of us the hardest thing to manage currently. We may still struggle with thoughts about exactly how we'll be impacted, how long this may last, or how tough things might get.
And that may make it all too easy to catastrophize and spiral out into an overwhelming fear and panic.
While this may be a usual for most and maybe an expected reaction to the pandemic for most of us, but too much of it may start to cause distress and it might be very challenging.
Don't let anyone tell you to "accept it", "get over it", et cetera.
Don't let anyone put you under the pressure of putting your struggles and challneges in the past tense, don't allow others to hurry you in your journey of acceptance and healing.
IT IS YOUR PROCESS. TAKE YOU TIME. IT IS OKAY.
This may take a toll on your health and well-being.
Just, please know, that there is help available and you should not have to struggle with it alone.
Speak to a trained mental health professional.
BE KIND TO YOURSELF... YOUR CHALLENGES DO NOT DEFINE YOU !!!!

Do you often wonder why we feel and behave in a certain way.
Be it any EMOTION.
Our thoughts, emotions and behaviour influence each other and most of the times it does influence our physiology too.
To understand it better, consider; it's not the situation that causes us distress but what we think about the situation and how we perceive it.
For Example:-
SITUATION: You did not get the promotion you were expecting.
THOUGHT: I must not be good at my job/they don't respect my work/it's unfair, etcetera.
EMOTION: Sad, angry, jealous, annoyed, etcetera.
BEHAVIOUR: Withdraw from that public space/have an argument/displace your emotion on someone else, etcetera.
PHYSIOLOGY: Sweaty Palms/Racing Heartbeat/Sinking feeling in the stomach, etcetera.
WHY DO YOU THINK WE HAVE A PARTICULAR THOUGHT PATTERN REGARDING A CERTAIN SITUATION?

Anxious Thoughts?
Constant worrying, negative thinking, and always expecting the worst can take a toll on us.
But when do we worry about worry?
Concern is our body's natural response to stress.
But when we FEEL that the stressor is a threat we won't be able to manage, that when we get anxious.
This may become an unhelpful emotion of anxiety.
BUT HOW DOES ANXIETY MANIFESTS ITSELF?
