SACCM NSS Unit

Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management organized a Poster Making and Poem Recitation Competition to honour the sacrifices of our nation's heroes, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Sukhdev, and Shaheed Rajguru. The theme for both competitions was "Essence of Patriotism," aiming to commemorate the unwavering spirit of these freedom fighters and instill a profound sense of patriotism among the participants.
A total of 20 students registered for both the competitions, with Pavit Pawan Kaur and Diya Aggarwal being declared winners for Poster Making and Prabhgun Kaur, Roohbani Kaur, Eestha Aggarwal for the Poem Recitation Competition.
The Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar, commended the efforts of the participants and congratulated the winners of both competitions. He remarked that the competitions beautifully encapsulated the essence of patriotism, serving as a poignant tribute to the sacrifices of our national heroes.
The event served not only as a celebration of patriotism but also as a means to cultivate pride and solidarity among the students, inspiring them to strive for a better future guided by the ideals of our esteemed martyrs.

The highlight of the closing ceremony was the screening of memorable videos, each capturing the spirit of Veer Bal Divas. These videos not only celebrated the courage and sacrifice of Chaar Sahibzade but also instilled a sense of patriotism among the attendees, serving as a reminder of the values that bind us together. An invigorating fitness session, promoting the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Led by enthusiastic trainers, the session energized the participants and emphasized the significance of physical well-being in the pursuit of community service.
The feedback session provided a backdrop for shared stories, laughter, and reflections on the week's activities. Games and fun activities were conducted for sub-staff members to appreciate their efforts. These games not only added a playful element to the event but also fostered a sense of inclusivity and camaraderie. Laughter echoed through the venue as participants, regardless of their roles, engaged in friendly competition, reinforcing the bonds formed during the camp.
As the closing ceremony ended, there was a palpable sense of accomplishment and unity among the participants. Principal Prof (Dr) Vishal Kumar congratulated the NSS Team for the successful completion of the camp and further asserted that the event vividly embodied the NSS motto "Not Me But You."

"Breaking Chains, Building Hope: Jhande Village Takes a Stand Against Drug Abuse in Empowering Rally"
a spirited rally was organized through the village, creating a vibrant atmosphere of enthusiasm and unity. The rally aimed to spread awareness regarding drug abuse and environment protection. Participants carried posters indicating the slogans on the theme of the rally and tried to sensitize people.

"Vision Care Initiative: SACCM NSS unit & ASG Hospital Conducts Eye Checkup Camp in Jhande Village"
Team NSS organized an Eye Checkup camp in one of our adopted village, Jhande. A dedicated team of doctors and healthcare professionals from ASG Hospital visited and done eye checkup of the residents of the village and also provide necessary consultation. The camp aimed to address the various problems related to eyes because of the excessive use of phones and increased screen time.

Savoring Health: 'Read Before You Eat' Wisdom with Mr. Dev Garg"
A comprehensive session on health and nutrition featuring a talk by Mr. Dev Garg, a renowned expert from Ingredient Insider was organised. The theme of the session centred around "Read Before You Eat," emphasizing the importance of mindful food choices and understanding the nutritional labels. Mr. Garg shared valuable insights into the significance of making informed decisions about the food we consume. He shed light on reading and interpreting nutritional information, guiding us towards healthier choices for overall well-being. The session sparked engaging discussions, with participants actively seeking advice on incorporating nutritious habits into their daily lives.

Healing Hands: SACCM NSS unit in collaboration with SPS Apollo Hospital, Medical Camp Brings Healthcare to the Heart of Village Moti Bagh"
a well-equipped Medical Camp unfolded its services in the picturesque village of Moti Bagh. A dedicated team of experienced doctors, nurses, from SPS Apolo Hospital, generously offered free health check-ups, consultations, and basic medical services to the residents of our adopted village. The medical camp aimed to address the healthcare needs of those with limited access while promoting preventive healthcare practices within the community.

"Pedaling Harmony: NSS Cycle Rally Unites Fitness and Environmental Consciousness on December 25, 2023"
an exceptional event a Cycle Rally with a twofold objective to promote fitness and environmental awareness,
The day began with an enthusiastic Cycle Rally, drawing active participation from the NSS volunteers. Two groups of pedallers shuttled 17 and 12 kilometres to and fro respectively from Rakh Bagh to Govind Go Dham, and from PAU to Govind Go Dham. Beyond fostering camaraderie, this rally served as a poignant reminder of the necessity to embrace eco-friendly modes of transportation. Following the invigorating ride, NSS volunteers sought divine blessings from Lord Krishna, engaging in heartfelt prayers that added a spiritual dimension to the day's activities.

Persisting with unwavering zeal and enthusiasm in alignment with the overarching theme of "Selfless Service" during the 7-Day NSS Camp, the volunteers were poised to contribute meaningfully to a noble cause benefiting society.

Persisting with unwavering zeal and enthusiasm in alignment with the overarching theme of "Selfless Service" during the 7-Day NSS Camp, the volunteers were poised to contribute meaningfully to a noble cause benefiting society. On the fourth day of the seven-day NSS camp at Shri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management in Ludhiana, the college organized visits to civil hospitals in three different locations. The NSS team was divided into three groups, each assigned to a specific hospital: ESI hospital, Civil Hospital Chandigarh Road, and Civil Hospital Jagraon. Recognizing the financial challenges faced by many, the NSS team was delighted to contribute to helping those in need.
The volunteers, filled with enthusiasm, distributed milk, tea, biscuits, and rusks to both patients within the hospitals and the surrounding civilian population. This initiative aimed to assist individuals who couldn't afford medical expenses or even basic sustenance. The entire activity reflected the students' zeal and commitment to social service, resulting in a successful and impactful event.
Principal Prof (Dr) Vishal Kumar appreciated the students' kindness and generated gratitude from those receiving assistance. He further asserted that the event vividly embodied the NSS motto: "Not Me But You."

"Unity in Outreach: NSS Volunteers Extend Compassion Beyond Campus Boundaries"
two teams of volunteers were sent for an outreach program in nearby slum areas of Ludhiana. Team 1 and Team 2 ventured into different slum areas of the city to distribute eatables, clothes and basic amenities. The heartfelt gratitude from the recipients underscored the impact of our collective effort. It was heartening to witness the NSS spirit in action, transcending the boundaries of the campus and reaching those in need

A profound session on Drug Abuse Awareness and Addiction Prevention which was conducted by BK Sahil Gupta and BK Manju Singla from Brahma Kumari Organisation. The session aimed at enlightening the students about the detrimental effects of drug abuse on individuals and society. The insightful session covered the causes, consequences, and prevention strategies related to drug abuse. They answered queries from the enthusiastic audience, enriching their understanding of the subject.

A soulful session on meditation was organised for volunteers by Ms. Umang Singh, the yoga and meditation trainer, indicating the significance of meditation in our hectic life these days.

Volunteers along with Ms. Lavanya Jain visited Government school in Jhande Village to provide insights to the students about the triggers for the anger, how anger can affect their physical and mental health. They were also made aware of the anger management strategies.

Workshop on firefighting was conducted by Mr. Rajkumar Rana, CSO, Vardhman Textiles Ltd wherein the volunteers were apprised of various safety measures to be undertaken in case of fire breakout. The NSS volunteers were also given practical drill to use fire extinguishers.

Session on Anger Management by Psychologist Ms. Lavanya Jain.
Ms. Lavanya conducted an engaging anger management session for volunteers of camp. Highlights include interactive discussions on anger triggers, cognitive restructuring, and conflict resolution. Participants appreciated the practical approach, expressing satisfaction with the session's relevance. The inclusion of role-playing scenarios allowed volunteers to apply the learned skills, fostering enthusiasm for ongoing use. Overall, the session successfully equipped participants with tools for effective anger management.

Team NSS organised a visit to the NGO Manukhta Di Sewa, exposing the volunteers to the harsh realities of life. The primary objective of this visit was to cultivate empathy among the volunteers and encourage their active involvement in initiatives promoting inclusivity. During the visit, the volunteers engaged themselves with disabled individuals rehabilitated by the NGO and distributed food articles to them.

NSS volunteers had heartwarming interactions with old people of Old Age Home run by Red Cross Society, residents, in turn, shared their life experiences with our volunteers, exposing them to the harsh realities of life faced by the elderly.

The NSS unit of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management organised a visit to Bal Bhavan and old age home managed by Red Cross Society for the NSS volunteers on 7th November 2023, Tuesday. The primary objective was to foster a sense of empathy among our NSS volunteers, imparting the notion that they bear a substantial responsibility toward the betterment of society, which transcends their personal academic pursuits and career aspirations.This remarkable endeavour was instrumental in enlightening our NSS volunteers from the BBA 1 and BCOM 1C programs about the lives and needs of underprivileged children. The students' interactions with the children were nothing short of unforgettable. They engaged in delightful games and various activities, forging memorable connections with these youngsters. The day became etched in the hearts of these children as they shared their joy and radiant smiles with our volunteers on the special occasion of Diwali. It was a heart touching lesson that resonated deeply within our NSS participants: "Even small contributions can make a significant impact."

Fund Raiser Charity Exhibition by Team NSS
A fund-raising charity exhibition for the various NGOs (Ek Prayas, Gyan Jyoti, Ek Jot and Netraheen Manvata di Sewa Welfare Society) was also organized by exhibiting their Diwali Stalls in the College campus. The participating NGOs set up Diwali Stalls showcasing intricately crafted diyas, decorative candles, and other festive items. Ten dedicated volunteers from the NSS team collaborated with NGO members to establish and manage their stalls. The marketing club members showcased their skills by assisting the NGOs in maximizing their product sales. College students actively contributed to the fundraising cause by purchasing articles from the stalls. Professor (Dr) Vishal Kumar, the Principal, encouraged students to engage in such initiatives, emphasizing the valuable lessons of social inclusivity they impart. The initiative aimed not only to celebrate the festival but also to create awareness about environmentally friendly practices.

NSS unit in collaboration with college Rangmanch society arranged Nukkad Natak centered around the theme of ‘Spreading awareness to celebrate Green Diwali.’ in a village adopted by NSS Unit. Students at Senior Secondary School and Primary School of Village Jhande were enlightened about the benefits of celebrating green Diwali.

Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management commemorated the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with a celebration of Gandhi Jayanti and the launch of the "Swachhta Hi Seva" campaign on October 2, 2023. The event was a testament to the college's commitment to promoting Gandhian values and fostering a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

The event started with the motivational address by Principal Prof. (Dr) Vishal Kumar, wherein he addressed the audience, by emphasizing the importance of Gandhian values and the need for a cleaner and sustainable future.

Thereafter a campus clean-up drive was initiated. Students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff enthusiastically joined hands to clean various areas of the college campus, including classrooms, corridors, gardens, and common areas. They used brooms, dustbins, and garbage bags to collect and dispose of litter properly.

As a symbolic gesture of commitment to the cause, all participants were invited to take a cleanliness pledge. They vowed to maintain cleanliness not only within the college premises but also in their homes and surrounding areas.

NSS Coordinator Prof. Kanwaljeet Singh stated that the college community will continue to work towards a cleaner and more eco-friendly campus and surrounding areas throughout the year, thus contributing to the vision of a cleaner and healthier India. By actively participating in cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns, SACCM demonstrated its commitment to building a cleaner and more sustainable future.
