Resource person provided valuable insights toward techniques for Tropical and Tropical climate with a case example of Florida. She stressed on using indigenous techniques juxtaposed with contemporary materials as the most suited design solutions. She also guided the students about the opportunities of pursuing Post Graduation in University of Florida, USA. Prof Akanksha Sharma, Head – GNDEC School of Architecture welcomed Dr Baweja and showcased the best work of students to her. Dr Sehijpal Singh, Principal – GNDEC had a positive discussion with Dr Baweja about jointly hosting a multi- disciplinary conference in GNDEC campus.

GNDEC School of Architecture is proudly sharing that Anudesh Saini, B.Arch 5th year student of GNDEC School of Architecture is declared the winner under the category A3F Sustainable Design Award. Anudesh Proposed and designed a 430 bedded hospital in the burgeoning city of New Chandigarh. With a concept - 'Medical treatments can provide temporary relief, but the ultimate long-term solution lies in improving our way of life. He strongly believes that integrating Architecture with nature is a key strategy to achieve overall wellness and by harmonizing the design of healthcare facilities with natural elements, we can create environments that promote healing, positivity, and well-being. Incorporating nature, natural light, green spaces, and soothing aesthetics can significantly impact the emotional and psychological well-being of patients, their families, and even the healthcare providers'. The competition was held by A3 Foundation which is an organization for research and promotion of sustainable and innovative architecture in India. The foundation is a brain child of Ar. Sangeet Sharma, practicing architect in Chandigarh which has given platform to many students and professionals to explore in the field of Architecture. We congratulate the faculty mentor Ar Vivek Sehgal, Associate Professor - GNDEC School of Architecture for this success. Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, situated in Gill Park, Ludhiana, joyfully commemorated its 68th Foundation Day on April 8, 2024. The event commenced with the recitation of Sukhmani Sahib at the college Gurudwara Sahib, followed by a soulful Kirtan performance by Bhai Kuldeep Singh Ji, Hazuri raggi from Shri Darbar Sahib.

S. Maheshindar Singh Grewal, former Cabinet Minister of Punjab and of presided over the function. He lauded the college's track record of producing accomplished graduates excelling in diverse domains across the globe. He advised the students to respect their teachers and parents. S. Baldev Singh Sran, of , graced the occasion as the chief guest, urging rural students to seek admission to this esteemed institution through the Rural Quota. He presented a detailed scenario of the power sector of Punjab.

Dr. Sehijpal Singh, of the college, enlightened the audience about its achievements and applauded the relentless efforts of student societies. The unveiling of the college magazine marked a significant moment during the ceremony. Meritorious students were felicitated for their academic and technical prowess, with deserving candidates receiving scholarships. The honored Professor Harvinder Singh of the Civil Engineering department as the , Paramvir Singh and Ravleen Kaur both from IT branch as the Best Student. 1995 batch alumni provided financial incentives to five brilliant students under 'peer learning' program. A handsome research funding to innovative projects was granted by Er.Pabla and N.S. Tiwana, 1963 alumni. Former principal Dr RP Singh, Dr.H.K Grewal, Dr SB Singh, Er Gurbir Singh Sandhu, President Alumni Association and a couple of alumni from 1973 and 1971 batch graced the occasion with their presence.

The spirit of generosity permeated the event as former students from the 1973 batch donated a modern software lab to the college. Contributions from the 1971 alumni batch further bolstered research and development initiatives in the Mechanical and Civil Engineering departments.

The occasion also witnessed acts of philanthropy, with scholarships distributed to 65 underprivileged students by the alumni of the 1996 batch. Er. Tejpreet Singh 1996 passout alumni and Dr. Rajinder Singh from NGO 'Sahaita' were present on the occasion. Former student Navjot Singh and Amarjot Kaur extended a unique mentorship scheme with financial aid to more than 100 students through his company's 'Tarraki' project. Prof. Jaswinder Singh shed light on the ongoing support provided by 'Nishkam Foundation' to numerous students.

S. Gurcharan Singh Grewal, Member of SGPC and Trustee, and S. Inderpal Singh, Director of NSET, expressed gratitude to alumni for their contributions and extended warm wishes on the momentous occasion of the 68th Foundation Day of GNDEC. Dr. Parminder Singh, Dean Student Welfare, and Dr. A.K. Sodhi efficiently coordinated the program, ensuring its success.

GNDEC School of Architecture is feeling glad to share that our B.Architecture 4th year student Arshdeep Singh has been awarded 20000/- (Twenty Thousand Rupees) as a prize money for emerging victorious in the Cover Page Design Competition for December Edition of the Referred Journal of The Indian Institute of Architects. A cheque for the amount 20,000/- has been handed over to Arshdeep Singh by Ar Pritpal Singh Ahluwalia, Chairmain - IIA Punjab Chapter in an event 'LEMNISCATE' organized by Udan Media & IIA.
