Kesariya Stupa is a Buddhist stupa in Kesariya, located at a distance of 110 kilometres from Patna, in the Champaran (east) district of Bihar, India. The Stupa, dedicated to Lord Buddha has great significance and it is believed to date back to somewhere between 200 AD &750 AD. This remarkable structure was discovered by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in 1998. In the time of the Buddha, it was known as Kessaputta. It is believed to have been built to honor the site where Lord Buddha must have spent the last days of his journey while preparing to attain Nirvana.
The Buddhist Stupa of Kesariya is an important tourist spot in India. Along with this, it is also a major center for the faith of Buddhists around the world. There are a large number of tourists from other countries in the world including China, Japan, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka & Nepal.
