The Hindu calendar is based on the lunar cycle and is called Panchāng. Panch meaning five, and ang - meaning parts. Each month is divided into two parts – Krishna paksha and Shukla paksh i.e. the black or waning and white, or waxing moon cycles. Poornimā, Amavasya and all the festivals, muhurtams, are marked on each day.
The last day of Diwali - tulsi vivaaha, marks the end of chaturmaas. This day, Dev utthani Ekadashi – 11th day of Kartik month, is also the day Padmanabhan wakes up from his four month long shayanam (sleep). The Poornima of Kartik month is Guru Nanak Jayanti. Novemeber 14th was Dev Utthani Ekadashi this year.

On a side note, the vagus nerve goes through all our vital organs and is connected to the parasympathetic nervous system. Activating it has a calming effect on the body and mind.
There are different ways to activate it: Bhramari, Om, signing, chanting, laughing.
Shashankasana or rabbit pose, is great for stretching the spine too.

When suffering from back pain, gentle backbends are safest to begin with.
Kriya’s are cleansing practices that yogi’s (those who practice all steps of yog, not just asan’s) used to keep healthy. We are fortunate to have this knowledge preserved by our great rishi’s and guru’s and passed on to us through scriptures and actual practice.
Shri Yogendraji, founder of my alma mater, lists the sixfold purpose of yoga hygiene (kriyas) as:
1. Removal of disease
2. Purification of all external and internal organs of the body
3. Maintenance of highest physical efficiency through good health
4. Auto immunization
5. Longevity, in the sense of getting beyond old age and death
6. The mental, moral and spiritual sublimination of culminating in the ultimate Absoluteness
The period during which seasons change, is the best time to practice kriyas as we are more vulnerable to illnesses due to the changing weather. There six kriyas or shatkarma's to purify the body and keep the organs healthy.

Sharad (autumn) according to Ayurveda occurs during the months of Ashwin and Kartik i.e. mid - September to mid – November. Navaratri, Vijayadashami, and Sharad Purnima occur during this period.
The human body and earth which were once cooled due to rain in वर्षा ऋतु (varṣā, rainy season) will be heated again by sun rays in Sharad Ritu causing vitiation of Pitta Dosha.
Avoid exposure to the sun.

These chemicals are in a lot of things we use daily. If you suffer from hormonal imbalance, looking into to what extent and what type of plastic you store your food and water in might help.
