But for many of the remote communities of our country , reliable access to safe water is a daily challenge. Women and children have to travel long distances to collect water for their families .

Changing lives for better!

Sarita is from Sorandhi, Coimbatore. She is 40 now and has been living here for around 20 years. Throughout these years, easy and enough access to clean drinking water has been one of the problems she had been facing. We recently installed Tata Swach Tech Jal drinking community water purifier system in her neighborhood. She is very happy that she has access to drinking water at her door step now. This system will be serving 56 households like that of Sarita.

Tata Swach and Solar Village Project are together working on child-centered school projects in rural areas of India where an integrated solution that provides clean drinking water and hygiene education programmes that can promote behavioural change in children. To provide safe water for all children and staff, Tata Swach Tech Jal water purification unit with ultrafiltration technology was installed in a municipal school with over 2800 student in the Maharashtra village of Shaniwar Peth Karad.The existing water supply is not potable. However, the children and staff have little choice but to use the unsafe water. The installation of a water purification unit will improve water supply and sanitation levels in schools, lowering the incidence of water-related diseases among students. This translates into consistent school attendance and, as a result, improved academic performance.

This time, Tata Swach along with Abhinav Gram Foundation installed community purifiers at Manatu village in Ranchi (Jharkhand). The inauguration was done by Pandit Salil Bhatt in the presence of Sri Pramod, Chief Engineer of Drinking Water and Sanitation Department.

Lack of safe drinking water causes irreversible harm to the children's physical and mental development. With installation of three such community purifier units, the children and villagers of Mantau will be now having access to clean drinking water.
