Modern Indian population is moving towards fitness and overall well-being as a means to de-stress themselves from hectic work pressure, and combat unhealthy eating habits and sedentary lifestyles. With the profound changes in the lifestyle and income levels of people, the wellness industry in India has become a sunrise sector, and is set to grow by 20-30 per cent year on year. Currently, the market is estimated at Rs 9000 crores, of which wellness services contribute 40 per cent. However, a large chunk of the Indian population is not aware of the fitness options available to them. A pool of start-ups have emerged in the last couple of years, to bridge this gap, and address the requirements of fitness enthusiasts. With these embarking on journeys into the wellness space, the space is expected to hit an inflection point of growth. All this has created a huge potential for growth of the gym industry and subsequent need to educate the fitness enthusiast and the fitness professional. The extremely aware and educated clientele visiting the gyms and fitness centers has increased the potential of fitness academies to another level thus creating huge possibilities for revenue generation in this sector. Fitness academies, which have specifically designed a curriculum for the fitness professionals, teaching them the science for Indian population are few. The need of the hour is to educate the fitness professionals and make them capable of providing services to suit individual needs of the fitness enthusiast. For the growth of the industry and to make this sector the biggest revenue generating sector in the coming two to three decades, the education curriculum and norms should be strictly scientific and futuristic. IFSA has decided to reach out to each and every fitness professionals and create an awareness and importance of education, so that preventive health can be encouraged above curative health With the easy access to information through technology people have become concious of their health and want to make preventive health measures and regimes a part of their daily schedules. Exercise instructors, nutrition counsellors and fitness consultants need to be encouraged to understand the importance of indepth and scientific knowledge of human health..

Intellectual Fitness and Sport Academy (IFSA) was established in 2010 by Parag Parulekar, a leading fitness educationist in India with over a decade’s experience in the industry. He was an ex- exercise science lecturer for K11 fitness academy and Golds gym fitness institute. IFSA is now the fastest growing fitness academy in the country with its courses running in 8 cities. Apart from its flagship courses, Certified Fitness Coach (CFC) and Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC), the academy offers certification programs in Yoga, Massage Therapy and Nutrition for Special Population.
