*ABOUT GARBETT PLATEAU*
Garbett point is located on the South-west side of Matheran with a grand view of the plateau. The place is cool and pleasant even when the scorching sun raises the temperature in Mumbai. This makes it an easy and accessible night trek near Mumbai. Deep forest runs through the Matheran, which covers approx 8 sq Kms in the Sahyadris. This lovely spot was discovered in 1850 by Hugh Poyntz Malet, the collector of the Thane district.

TMI Makadnal Trek ( Harishchandragad )

Ascend via Makadnal
Descend via Junnar Darwaza (Khireshwar Village)

The fort is quite ancient. Remnants of Microlithic man have been discovered here. The various Puranas (ancient scriptures) like Matsyapurana, Agnipurana and Skandapurana include many references about Harishchandragad. Its origin is said to have been in the 6th century, during the rule of Kalachuri dynasty. The citadel was built during this era. The various caves probably have been carved out in the 11th century.These caves are idols of Lord Vishnu. Though the cliffs are named Taramati and Rohidas, they are not related to Ayodhya. Great sage Changdev (one who created the epic Tatvasaar), used to meditate here in the 14th century. The caves are from the same period. The various constructions on the fort and those existing the surrounding region point to the existence of diverse cultures here. The carvings on the temples of Nageshwar (in Khireshwar village), in the Harishchandreshwar temple and in the cave of Kedareshwar indicate that the fort belongs to the medieval period, since it is related to mahadeva as a totem of tribes koli mahadev. they was control the fort before the Moguls. Later the fort was under the control of Moguls. The Marathas captured it in 1747.

Makdnal will test your morale, stamina and endurance to the core. With rocky patches and technical climbing, you’ll reach the top. Our leads of trek buddies and technically sound experts will make your climb a memorable and safe one.
This trek is *not for beginners.* Those who have trekked before and have taken the challenge of the mountain, only those can attend this event. It takes approx. 10-12 hours Appx just to reach Kokankada top from the base. We climb by MakadNaal route and descend via Khireshwar route.

Anjaneri Fort :
The fort of Anjaneri, being the birthplace of lord ‘Hanuman’, has a great historical importance. Lord Hanuman was the son of Maharaj 'Keshari' and ‘Anjanimata’ also known as the son of ‘Pavan Dev’ (the wind), and hence the fort is called ‘Anjaneri’. Anjaneri is one of the important forts in the ranges of Trimbyakeshwar near Nashik.
The temple of ‘Anjani Mata’, a big marvelous temple devoted to the mother of Lord Hanuman, is another attraction. The temple is quite big. It is a proper place to accommodate the fort.

Tahuli:
Tahuli actually is not a fort. Tahuli comes under the regions of Kalyan, Karjat, and Panvel. Tahuli mountain contains a number of pinnacles. The two important names of them are ‘Daadima’ and ‘Panch Peer’. This place is not common among the trekkers and is less explored, but is very famous for Badlapur, Ambernath, and Kalyan local people. It is adjacent to Haji Malang.

Nakhind Trek

Nakhind literally means a hollow area, passing through a rock. The fort of Nakhind is of a similar nature. It is a place for people who are well aware of trekking techniques as it gets little more difficult as you ascend. Nakhind is situated in proximity to Vangani, Maharashtra and belongs to the legendary mountain ranges of Sahyadris. The Fort stands approximately 2300 feet high. On a scale, 1 to 10, the difficulty grade can be termed as 7. The fort base comes after a long walk with amazing scenic views of natural sheets laid on gigantic pieces of land. One can find tiny beautiful water bodies in this route. Travelers love playing in this area. Apart from Trek, this falls a great place for a one-day leisure tour too. Then begins the Trek! The Fort initially offers challenging paths and later the windy atmosphere cools you down. Hence, you will actively move because of breezes and great views. After the trek gets completed to some extent, you find a steep slope. This is the most interesting part of the trek. The slope ascends with valleys and beautiful views on both of the sides. The mesmerizing experience will make you fall in love with Nakhind. After reaching the top of a pinnacle, you are 2K+ feet above. Here, you see the 'needle-hole' structure. The trek gets completed here. Descending journeys are very simple and consume very little time.

Trek to Vikatgad (Peb Fort)

*About Peb (Vikatgad)*
There is a small temple of Peb Devi on top of Peb fort. Peb fort derives its name from Goddess Peb Devi. There is not much history available about this fort. It is consider as this fort was visited by Captain Dickinson in 1818. Shape of this mountain looks like Elephant Headed hence also known as Vikatgad Fort. Peb fort top provides panoramic view Chanderi fort, Nakhind, Tavli, Navra-Navri, Malang gad, Prabalgad, Kalavantin Durg and Dhom Lake._

It is assumed that this fort derived its name Peb from the 'Goddess Pebi' at the base of the fort. Historical references indicate that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj used the caves on the fort as silos for grain storage.The Trek near the Foothills of Matheran's offers all that a trekker can ask for climbing ladders, navigating rock patches, ancient caves, dense forest, ridge walking, pleasant weather.
