Happy Doctors Day
One of the most memorable moments of my ‘doctor journey’ was being awarded the Gold Medal for my Dermatology Post-graduation. Always have so so many doctors to be thankful to for inspiring, encouraging, helping, pushing - to help me become the doctor I am today - always eager to learn and to have a dynamic perspective for everything in life!

It’s a common occurrence to have elongated ear holes making it difficult to wear your favourite earrings, or worse accidentally lose your expensive pair of solitaires!
Elongated or split ear holes can be because of many reasons:
Accidental pull or forceful tug on the ear rings
Wearing long, heavy dangling earrings for prolonged hours
The initial ear piercing was too low leading to easy elongation
The ear lobe may be too thin to support the weight
How can split earlobe be repaired?
At Everything Skin & Hair we repair elongated or split ear holes with:
Surgery - In this simple procedure the two edges of the ear lobe are freshened under local anaesthetic and the two ends are approximated by either sutures (stitches) or by surgical glue. The stitches are removed after 8 to 12 days. A 5 day course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories are given. This is best for irregular, or zig zag tearing of the ear hole.
Non Surgical - This a novel method, which requires no anaesthetic or prior preparation. It uses ‘sticking’ the edges together. Over weeks the skin heals and bridges the gap of the ear hole.

I absolutely love my skin-care products, however it’s a double edged sword when we tend to get overzealous with the number of products we layer on our skin. Keep it simple, and always understand YOUR SKIN, YOUR PRODUCTS & YOUR ENVIRONMENT and how they interact with each other. If you find that you have gotten carried away and your cabinet is full of skincare products, please sort expert dermatologist advice to plan a customised skin care program for you and for your concerns.

Zap those Zits
I highly recommend timely and correct treatment for acne to avoid disfiguring scars. Consistent acne needs a well planned dermatological regime. Acne needs prolonged treatment and a good maintenance regime even after one has achieved results to prevent recurrence. Always remember to be patient while treating acne and give skin the time it needs to heal.
My preferred approach-
1. Lifestyle - low glycemic diet, reduce dairy, correction of underlying hormonal imbalances if any, regular exercise
2. Skin care - Blend of prescription strength topical creams (containing actives like benzoyl peroxide, adapalene, tretinoin, nadifloxacin, dapsone, Azelac acid, glycolic acid, salicylic , Mandelic etc) & daily skin care like appropriate cleansers, moisturisers, tinted products for concealing if needed etc
3. Dermatologist performed procedures such as 20-30% salicylic peels, Acnelan peels, carbon laser peels etc combined with gentle comedone extraction and ILS for cyclic acne if needed.
4. Oral medications for severe acne such as isotretinoin etc
