July 1, 2024 - a date carved in green as Viraj Profiles commences on its journey as the first steel company to use renewable energy for manufacturing products. We are delighted to share the news of the successful commissioning of our joint venture project with Avaada to set up a 100 MW Solar Power Project in Soyagaon, Maharashtra. This project will fulfil 35-40% of our energy needs through renewable sources. With 200 million units of green energy annually generated, it will save 17,196 MToE (metric tons of oil equivalent) of conventional electricity and cut CO2 emissions by 77,110 tons.
We greatly applaud our dedicated team and partners for making this vision a reality. Together, we are leading the charge towards a sustainable future.

Our Story of bringing in a social change
Viraj is a leading stainless steel producer with integrated manufacturing facilities, located in India. Viraj is exporting its stainless steel products (Wire Rods, Wires, Welding Wires, Flanges, Fasteners, Bright Bars and Profiles) to more than 90 countries spread over 6 continents. With melting capacity of 528,000 tons per annum, the company produces more than 50,000 SKUs in various grades like Austenitic, Ferritic, Martenistic, Duplex and Electrode with various specifications. The core competency of Viraj lies in its integrated manufacturing facilities which enable it to meet customer specific requirements. In 2007 Viraj was ranked as the fifth most eminent producer of stainless steel long products in the world, leaping up to third place just a year later. Year 2012 saw the inauguration of a new production unit in wires division, whilst a fully automatic rolling mill commenced operations in 2014, complemented by the establishment of the firm’s Inland Container Depot in the same year. In just over two decades, we have achieved over 90 product certifications and approvals in the petrochemical, food and beverage, construction, pharmaceutical, defense and marine industries. Today we are ranked no. 1 in stainless steel flanges and we are the second largest manufacturer of long products in the world, we are ranked no. 1 in the long products segment in India. Employing 9,000 personnel across all of its divisions, Viraj Profiles Limited maintains a corporate culture that gives emphasis on the importance of individualized and empowered development.
At Viraj, we believe that Corporate like us can contribute a lot by supporting the existing development agencies which can bring a bigger change in Socio-Economic condition of present society. Thus Viraj Profiles ltd. had started a trust viz. Viraj Charitable Trust since 2002 to carry out various social, educational activities. Peripheral villages are focused under several non-profit programmes and initiatives for upgrading the existing situation of Education, Health, Employment and Infrastructure. We value Corporate Social Responsibility as doing business in such a way that it provides social, economic and environmental benefits to the communities and geographies in which we operate. It is in reciprocation of their support, we willingly share our success with them. Our CSR activities aim at reaching out to the poor and under-privileged section of the society and helping them to shape a better and more sustainable society. We strongly believe that these activities benefit society as well as enhance corporate value. Poor quality of education, rising of health problems, lack of employment, lack of basic infrastructure like school and hospital buildings are some of the basic problems prevalent in rural India. Seeing this reality in our surrounding, as a responsible corporate we have started intervening in these social issues along with our business units.
As part of our CSR activities, we provide free training on stitching to the local village women and also help them in establishing their own business. So far we have provided training to 8 batches of around 30 students each. Most of these students have started their own business which they run from home and some of them have been offered in some of the leading textile companies in the vicinity.
During the summer vacation time, we also organize free computer classes and English speaking classes for the school and college going girl students. However the class does not comprise of only the students rather we also have some enthusiastic housewives who want to learn computers and the language. Its been fun interacting with these energetic students and feels great to see them grow and bag good jobs in the banks, retail store, shops, offices etc.
