A group of undergraduate students from the University of Notre Dame, US along with their professor, did a tour with us. From the leafy lanes of Bandra, to the fish drying yards at Danda it was a unique experience. They loved the quiet village of Chuim and the syncretic traditions at the Mount Mary church. Their favourite story was about the geological origins of Mumbai!

Adrian and his daughter Larrisa were in India on a business visit, from Switzerland. While Adrian had been regularly visiting India, it was the first time for his daughter. They decided to see and understand the development and working of Mumbai by signing up for KHAKI's and tours. And while they were enraptured by the colonial part of Mumbai with its colourful history and equally colourful legends, the effect of Dharavi was different. At the end, Adrian did mention that they were two totally different sides of the city but both together needed to be seen to be understood!

Kabir was in Mumbai for the summers, visiting with his friend Eleanor, who came here to Mumbai for the first time. So the two decided to join us on our tour to explore around the city. They were fascinated with each distinct precinct of the city, and were blown away with how each one was in contrast to the other. They also enjoyed trying some local street food, mainly Vada Pav, which was the star of the show.

The Arcadis team which comprised of quite a few geologists joined us on our tour to view the city through the KHAKI lens. They loved the story of the origin of Mumbai leading to the volcanic geology of the city. They loved the diverse architecture and the CSMT building seemed to be the unanimous wow! Kristin, who was from the US, loved the connections that Mumbai had with the US.

Jacob from the US joined us on a walk to explore the Queen of the suburbs! He loved Mumbai's origin story and was fascinated with the crowds thronging outside Shah Rukh Khan's house. He loved the walk through the quaint Indo Portuguese villages and being a Harry Potter fan, absolutely loved the 10 1/4 house in Chuim village. Jacob loved the graffiti, especially the mosaic tile work by Tyrell Valadares on the Bomanjee steps. Mount Mary and her tales of devotion coupled with the wax offerings of different kinds were fascinating for Jacob and he loved the way the St Stephen’s steps integrated a ramp!

This weekend, take the No. 14 bus

BEST’s No.14 bus goes from Pratiksha Nagar on Antop Hill to SP Mookerji Chowk at Fort. Get off the bus at Hutatma Chowk on Saturday evening for the heritage walk, at Wadia Hospital on Sunday morning for the heritage walk, and at Aadyakrantiveer VB Phadke Chowk on Sunday evening for the heritage walk.

For our other walks this week, take the No. 11 bus (that’s old Mumbai lingo for your own two legs!). Join us for the food walk and the on Saturday evening, the ghost walk on Saturday night, the homage walk inside Colaba’s Chabad House on Sunday evening, inside the BMC headquarters on both days of the weekend, and the every evening.

You could also drop by Khaki Lab in Fort to view the ‘Look Up Mumbai’ exhibition. Digital paintings by artist Saurabh Chandekar on the hidden heritage atop Mumbai’s buildings are on display.

Your kids can take the No. 11 bus too! For them, we have the walk on Sunday morning and the walk on Sunday evening.

You could also take a bus – the ! Join us for a rambling ride around South Mumbai in the comfort of an AC double-decker bus on Saturday evening.

You could also take a jeep. Our open jeep rides on Friday, Saturday and Sunday showcase Fort’s illuminated buildings and their stories.

You could also take a flght – to Türkiye in September. We are planning a fourth immersive tour to the country, this autumn.
