Numbers to work with, numbers to play with! Counting is an important mathematical skill. Measurement is another way to strengthen the child's ability to work with numbers. Recording the measured quantities on paper helps the child move from the concrete to abstract. Here you can see the child is working with containers with different water holding capacities. She is astonished at how many glasses it is taking to fill the large bucket! After finishing the pouring and measuring work, she went ahead and filled in the information on a graph.
