NBA on TNT on Twitter ““Michael Jordan played 15 years, won 6 championships. The other 9 years were a failure?" -Giannis' passionate response to if he considers the Bucks' season a failure”
Do you feel horrible after having a conflict with your child?
I always do…but here’s the thing:
According to Dr. John Gottman (a renowned relationship expert) conflict is a normal part of family life. But it is how we handle and repair those conflicts that makes all the difference.
By repairing our relationship with our child, we show them that no matter what happens, we still love and respect them. We also model what a healthy conflict resolution can look like.
A simple apology, acknowledging what happened and making an effort to listen can go a long way. You can say:
“I’m sorry I yelled at you earlier. Can we talk?
"I should have listened to you before. I am sorry. Can we try again?"
It’s easy to judge ourselves by what we think we “should” or “should not” be, rather than accepting who we truly are. If you know what it means to feel not enough, I hope this poem speaks to you.
UNDONE:
What if I was done,
Complete,
Leaving me incomplete,
Longing to be
A work in progress.
I want to live in the sticky, sloppy, slippery now,
Potential, yet realized,
Hidden in the folds of me.
I want to roll in the uncertainty of freedom and choice,
To remember each breath, and in each, to know that I am love.
I am enough.
I am rough around the edges
And that is a beautiful thing.

Here goes.
☀️ Spend time in nature
☀️ Keep a journal
☀️ Schedule conversations with friends
☀️ Bake yummy cakes and cookies
☀️ Focus on your child/ren's learning rather than completing assignments
☀️ Flex on bedtimes and wake-up times
☀️ Write daily gratitude's or appreciations
☀️ Set tiny goals for yourself
☀️ Help others in need
☀️ Watch silly shows or movies that make you laugh
☀️ Do anything that makes you and your kid/s laugh
☀️ Put on music and dance and sing
☀️ Give everyone the benefit of the doubt
☀️ Listen more, talk less
☀️ Create some routine with things you can control
☀️ Keep tabs on your family members' mental health and prioritize connection over production
Got other ideas? I'd love to hear what's helping you and your family thrive –– or at least survive –– during this time.

Life has kind of been throwing curve balls lately ! 2020 has been tough . Yes its a truth we all live with. Its keeping us on high alert
But what if this anxiety is getting hardwired in our brain ? what if our limiting beliefs , anxiety , fears are always looking out for the negative in a way to 'protect' ourselves from potential danger or to 'prove' our own limiting beliefs.
It becomes a HABIT! And we don't even realize it.
That can be dangerous
Lets stop !take a deep breath
Let's break that habit today with one simple exercise:
Be on the lookout today for those small moments of joy. Take the time to linger in that moment and be fully present.
• When the sun catches the light just right and sparkles.
• When your kiddo smiles in that cute way.
• When you connect with your partner instead of arguing.
• When the light that is normally red happens to be green.
• even that moment of relief after you go to the bathroom:-)
Because another mistake we make when we're on the lookout for all things negative, we also believe that moments of joy are these big, extraordinary moments.
But joy, while never constant, comes in small packages much more often than the big ones.
Look for these small moments of joy. ❤️☕️☀️
It will begin to rewire your brain, breaking that negative thinking habit that has NOT been serving you !
Cheers!

"Wisdom is the reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you'd have preferred to talk."
— Doug Larson
Deep conversations help us feel closer to the people we care about.
But have you noticed how hard it can be to listen properly?
We’ve all done it! Whether we’re distracted by worries, tired after a busy day, or just worn down by bickering kids, sometimes we’re not as present as we could be during conversations with our loved ones.
In turn, we risk making assumptions, which undermines the potential to create more closeness.
It’s easy to forget that conversation is a skill we can proactively work on.
So this week, be more conscious of the interactions you have. Get beyond small talk, be an active listener, and use conversations as a tool for cultivating deeper connections with the people in your life.

The greatest resource that humankind has is to be found within human life itself. This treasure can be endlessly mined and developed. To believe in and encourage youth, bringing out their wisdom and strength; this is the challenge and purpose of education.”

IQ of a child is just the tip of the iceberg ! So measuring a teenagers IQ and feeling content that he/she is going to be successful is unfortunately not going to work out ! It is just 10 % of what is required for an individual to be successful in Life , work and in relationships .
Research says that 90 % lies in the other quotients ( Intelligence ) which are:
1. Adaptability Intelligence ( the ability to thrive in change and volatility ) (AI)
2 Conversation and Communication Intelligence ( The ability to have confident , curious creative conversations ) (CI)
3. Emotional Intelligence ( The ability to effectively manage ones own emotions and that of others for effective relationships .)(EI)
With
a. Professional skills :
-Leadership skills
- Money Handling skills
- Thinking skills
- Decision making skills
b. Growth Mindset
The ability to work hard and persevere to reach your goals and not give up on them
Thus what adds to what a a 12-19 year old requires to thrive in this new reality and to future ready is :
