Front Office Capitals Clinch Victory in Chandiwala Premier League 3.0: A Triumph of Talent and Teamwork

In a thrilling display of cricketing prowess, the Chandiwala Premier League 3.0 unfolded at the Yamuna River View Cricket Ground in New Delhi, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit among the participating teams. Organized by BCIHMCT, the intra-college premier league of cricket once again captivated a packed audience on March 28, 2024.

The opening match kicked off the excitement as F&B Bulls clashed with Culinary Kings in a riveting encounter. F&B Bulls displayed their prowess on the field, emerging victorious in a closely contested battle.

Following the intense opener, the stage was set for another gripping clash between Front Office Capitals and Housekeeping Hurricanes. In a surprising turn of events, Front Office Capitals secured a decisive victory, showcasing their determination and skill.

With the tournament reaching its pinnacle, the final match unfolded with Front Office Capitals facing off against F&B Bulls in a showdown of epic proportions. In a thrilling display of cricketing excellence, Front Office Capitals emerged triumphant, clinching the championship title in CPL 3.0.

The man of the series in the final was Shikhar Chopra, who delivered a stellar performance, contributing significantly to Front Office Capitals' victory with their outstanding skills and leadership on the field. Sambhav Nigam, Tushar Manchanda and Harsh*t Madan were the Man of the Matches.

Front Office Capitals' stellar performance throughout the tournament earned them the well-deserved honor of being declared the winners of CPL 3.0 - 2024. Congratulations to Front Office Capitals on their remarkable achievement, solidifying their status as champions of Chandiwala Premier League 3.0.

Pioneering Pest Control Expert Session Empowers Future Hoteliers at Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology

The Housekeeping Department of Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology organized an expert session on Pest Control on March 22, 2024, held in the Banquet Hall. This session catered to students from the 4th, 6th, and 8th semesters.

The session was conducted by professionals, Mr. Ved Vrat, Zonal Manager, and Mr. Punit Kumar, Sales Manager, representing ENVU. They illustrated pest control concepts through different pesticides that are routinely applied. They also talked about integrated pest management, the control and eradication of many different pests, and their treatment. Students found it very easy to grasp and attended the educational session with a great deal of interest.

Mr. Ved Vrat and Mr. Punit Kumar spoke with young students about malaria, dengue fever, mosquito life cycles, and prevention. They showed numerous videos related to the subject. He also talked about cockroaches, including their various types, how to kill them, and how to protect yourself from them. Students learnt about various pest management techniques, their uses, rodent types, and how to avoid them. At the end of the session, students had a lot of questions, and the speakers were pleased to answer all of them about pest management.

The event was meticulously organized by Dr. Rachna Chandan, Head of the Department (Housekeeping) and Mr. Deepak Chhikara, Assistant Professor, BCIHMCT.

BCIHMCT Empowers Aspiring
Hospitality Professionals with personal Grooming session

In a bid to equip its students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the world of personal grooming, Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BCIHMCT) organized a transformative workshop titled PERSONAL GROOMING in collaboration with Gillet mach 3.

The event which was held on March 19,2024 in the institute premises was a great success, enlightening all four year students.

Gillette is a well-known brand in the personal grooming industry, particularly for its razors and shaving products. Founded in 1901 by King C. Gillette, the company has a long history of innovation and development in the field of shaving technology. With its slogan "The Best a Man Can Get," Gillette has become synonymous with quality and reliability in the realm of personal grooming.

Students were also awarded certificates for the workshop. It was a wonderful session held in our college and students learned very nicely .

The workshop was led by a panel of industry experts, including Mr. Nihal. The event was organized and managed by Dr. Manish Malhotra , BCIHMCT, New Delhi.

Annual Debate Competition Sparks Insightful Discourse: The Role of AI in Hospitality Sector Explored

The Communication and Soft Skills Department in coordination with “Talk Masters” - the debating club of BCIHMCT, organized the ANNUAL DEBATE COMPETITION at the BCIHMCT premises on MARCH 19, 2024.

The topic for the debate was “There is Darker Side than Brighter Side by the use of Artificial Intelligence in the Hospitality Sector.”

Anchored by Ms. Manya Sharma and Ms. Kesar Ahuja, the event witnessed compelling arguments both for and against the motion. Participants delved into the complexities surrounding AI implementation in hospitality, addressing concerns about job displacement, loss of human touch, and ethical considerations alongside its potential benefits in enhancing efficiency and customer experience.

Every year the annual debate competition is organized to enhance and develop oratory skills among students, along with an ability to analyse current and relevant topics. Students are encouraged to convey their thoughts in a logical and assertive manner. Students, from all semesters, participated in the debate with a lot of enthusiasm and energy.

Judged on criteria encompassing communication skills, subject matter expertise, reasoning ability, confidence, and adeptness in handling questions, contestants displayed commendable oratory skills. From innovative chocolate creations to Authentic Awadhi cuisine, Cake Decorating Mastery to Towel Origami and Flower Arrangement skills, they swept multiple categories!

TajSATS Placement Drive at BCIHMCT: Students Connect with Industry Leaders for Career Opportunities

On March 14, 2024, TajSATS (a collaborative venture between Asia's largest hospitality company, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), and the continent's leading food solutions enterprise, SATS Limited ) conducted their placement drive at the Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BCIHMCT) campus. Representatives from TajSATS, including Ms. Deepali Goja (Manager Learning and Development). Chef Vivek Joshi (Executive Sous chef) and Ms. Tanya Singh (Assistant Manager, HR) visited the campus premises.

Ms. Tanya Singh and her team coordinated the personal interview rounds, enabling effective communication between candidates and TajSATS team. Empowering Women Through Political Participation: Ms. Agrima Bhatia Champions Women's Political Participation

On March 8, 2024, as the world celebrated International Women’s Day, the District Election Office (District South East) took an initiative by organizing a function dedicated to the "Participation of Women in Elections." Among the participants was Ms. Agrima Bhatia, third year promising student from the Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, New Delhi.

Ms. Bhatia, representing her college, delivered a speech brimming with passion and conviction on the theme of women empowerment. She spoke about the vital role of women in the electoral process. She emphasized the significance of women exercising their right to vote, emphasizing that it not only empowers them individually but also holds elected officials accountable for their actions. In her view, women's participation ensures that the democratic process remains fair, transparent, and representative of diverse perspectives.

Ms. Bhatia articulated, "It is now high time that we let women exercise their well-deserved right to vote because their opinion in choosing the correct officials to run their country and make decisions for their country’s betterment." Breaking New Horizons: 14th IIHTTRC 2024 Unveils Critical Insights on Tourism & Hospitality Amidst Climate Change and Geo-political Challenges.

The 14th India International Hotel, Travel & Tourism Research Conference commenced on March 6, 2024, at the BCIHMCT in New Delhi, focusing on the pivotal theme, "Tourism & Hospitality: Climate Change, Geo-political Conflicts & Crisis Management." The first day unfolded with a series of engaging sessions. Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing world, this conference serves as a crucial platform for exploring the intersection of climate change, geo-political conflicts, and effective crisis management within the hospitality and tourism sector.

The event began with the felicitation of esteemed guests and the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, followed by a soulful Ganesh Vandana. Prof. R.K. Bhandari, President of IIHTTRC 2024 and Director of BCIHMCT, welcomed the distinguished guests, researchers and the audience.

The chief guest, Mr. Rajan Bahadur, CEO of Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council of India, addressed the gathering, highlighting the crucial role of hospitality sector in the revival of economy after the Covid 19 era. He emphasized on the necessity for professionals in the hospitality and tourism sector to remain agile, alert, and aware in the rapidly evolving landscape.

Guest of Honour, Shri Gour Kanjilal, Former Deputy Director General, Government of India in the Ministry of Tourism, New Delhi, talked about Geopolitical Challenges in the hospitality sector. He emphasized on the impact of personalization for enhancing relationship with the guests.

Dr. Kevser Cinar, President of EATSA, (Euro Asia Tourism Studies Association), Associate Professor – Necmettin Erbakan University, Turkiye delivered a warm address, emphasizing the global significance of the conference. She shared her thoughts about the Tourism & World Peace.

Distinguished personalities in the industry graced the occasion with special addresses. Mr. Niranjan Khatri, Founder at iSambhav and Former General Manager of Environment Initiatives at ITC Hotels, added his perspectives on sustainability. He provided us with a comprehensive view of the issues that are currently affecting us, such as global warming, drought, and a lack of access to clean water. In his address, he also provides a quick overview of the measures employed in hotels to promote sustainability and reduce waste.

After all of the dignitaries, Dr. Arvind Kumar Saraswati, Convenor - IIHTTRC 2024 & Associate Professor, BCIHMCT, offered a vote of thanks for their active involvement and the knowledge they shared with everyone.

The Keynote Speech by Prof. Maharaj V. Reddy, Associate Dean (Research & Knowledge Exchange), Faculty of Art, Business & Social Science, University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom on “Building Resilience in Tourism & Hospitality: A Critical Review of Disaster and Crisis Management Research “ in which he talked about his first Project in Andaman & Nicobar Island having cultural Heritage category Biosphere conservation point.

Prof. Dr Jan Mosedale, Director of Studies Master Tourism & Change & Head of Research, Institute for Tourism and Leisure Research ITF, University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons, Switzerland expressed his thoughts on “Climate Change impacts on Swiss Tourism and Hospitality” He began by outlining how climate change is affecting Swiss tourism by generating glacier melt, unexpected weather patterns, and changes in water supply, all of which have an influence on skiing, winter sports, and outdoor activities such as swimming and boating.

At the end of the day, Dr. Vernika Agarwal, Associate Professor, and Dr. Pooja Chaturvedi Sharma, Assistant Professor, Apeejay School of Management, New Delhi, conducted a Research Workshop on "Writing a Research Paper/Project for Undergraduate Students". The main goal of this workshop was to familiarize participants with various research approaches, provide practical insight into conducting effective research, and discuss research issues and solutions.

The inaugural day of the conference set a promising tone, initiating knowledge exchange and collaboration among experts in the field of tourism and hospitality.

BCIHMCT Empowers Students with Immersive Two-Day Hotel Visit at The Suryaa: Unveiling Cutting-Edge Energy Conservation and Pest Control Practices

In a recent initiative, the BCIHMCT organized a two-day Hotel Visit for its sixth semester students from Group A and B on the 29th of February and the 1st of March 2024. The students, under the guidance of esteemed faculty, Mr. Deepak Chhikara, visited "The Suryaa Hotel" situated in NFC, New Delhi. The primary objective of this visit was to get insights into the hotel's current practices in energy conservation and pest control.

Students reported at the staff gate at 12:30 p.m., and everyone proceeded to the hotel HR department area under the supervision of The Suryaa's HR Executive, Ms. Dhriti Singh. She then introduced us to the Director of Engineering Department, Mr. Mukesh Sharma. He demonstrated all the engineering department's workshop, equipment, and energy conservation methods deployed in their hotel.

The hotel has taken several impressive energy-saving measures, including LED lighting in common areas and guest rooms, energy-efficient appliances, a solar panel, a water treatment plant, and a centralized HVAC control system. The event concluded with compliments to Hotel HR Executive Ms. Dhriti Singh and Director of Engineering Mr. Mukesh Sharma.

Following the workshop, students and faculty members were offered lunch in the hotel's cafeteria. Mr. Aditya (Housekeeping Assistant Manager) and Mr. Rajender (Pest Control Expert) conducted another pest control session in the Housekeeping department after lunch. During the workshop, students were given details about the many ways used in hotels for controlling pests, the many kinds of equipment used, the names of eco-friendly chemicals used to control pests, and the frequency schedule for pest spraying in various hotel locations.

BCIHMCT extends heartfelt appreciation to the management and staff of "The Suryaa Hotel" for their unwavering cooperation and transparent sharing of knowledge during this visit.

This workshop was tailored to students of the 2nd and 4th Semesters, offering an invaluable opportunity to delve into the realm of modern hotel management technology.

Dr. Ashish Ranga, Assistant Professor, Administrative Coordinator, BCIHMCT, presented insights and hands-on training on the My Cloud Hospitality PMS, an innovative online cloud-based hotel management software. During the workshop, participants explored the key features which included Reservation Management, Property Management System (PMS), Point of Sale (POS) Integration, Guest Management as well as Reporting and Analytics.

By participating in this workshop, organized by Ms. Reshma Kamboj, HoD Front Office, students gained valuable knowledge and practical skills essential for thriving in the dynamic hospitality industry. Whether students aspire to pursue a career in hotel management or seek to enhance their understanding of cutting-edge technology in the field, this workshop helped to equip them with the tools necessary to excel.

Ms. Sharma gave a comprehensive presentation using PowerPoint, outlining CCD's history, values, and expectations for prospective candidates.

Ms. Twinkle Sharma and her team coordinated the personal interview rounds, enabling effective communication between candidates and Café Coffee Day representatives. The placement event at Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute offered students the chance to meet with industry professionals and discover career options within Café Coffee Day. Through interactive discussions, candidates demonstrated their abilities, while Café Coffee Day evaluated their compatibility with the organization’s various roles.

BCIHMCT Triumphs: Students Secure First Runner-Up at BCIPS Business Plan Competition

In a thrilling showcase of entrepreneurial prowess, students from the BCIHMCT, New Delhi, made their mark at the recently organized Business Plan Competition hosted by BCIPS in Dwarka on February 29, 2024. The event, a hotbed for innovative ideas and budding talents, saw active participation from 30 teams from the region.

Two dynamic teams from BCIHMCT entered the competition, each armed with unique business concepts and aiming for success. The first team, comprising Naman Gupta, Vansh Mehta, Ms. Asmi Chopra, and Devansh from the 2022-2026 batch, presented a groundbreaking startup idea titled "Smart Meals" – a revolutionary concept of delivering wholesome meals in a convenient box. Their innovative approach and impeccable presentation skills captured the attention of both the audience and the esteemed panel of judges.

Naman Gupta's team emerged as the First Runner-Up, receiving accolades for their exceptional business acumen, confidence, and effective communication. The concept of 'Meal in a Box' resonated with the audience and also impressed the judges with its feasibility and market potential.

The second team, comprising Chaitanya Bajaj, Bhavesh, Ms. Anzah Arora, and Nikhil Kandpal from the 2021-2025 batch, presented another thought-provoking business idea, Steward Genie, that showcased their creativity and strategic thinking. Though not clinching the top spot, their contribution added depth to the competition and showcased the diverse talents within BCIHMCT.

Both teams were under the mentorship of Mr. Peeyush Srivastav, HOD of Communication & Soft Skills at BCIHMCT, New Delhi. His guidance and expertise played a pivotal role in honing the teams' skills and preparing them for the competitive arena. The success of BCIHMCT students at the BCIPS Business Plan Competition is a testament to the institute's commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial spirit and providing a platform for students to showcase their talents on a broader stage.

Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and
Catering Technology (BCIHMCT), under Viksit Bharat Campaign orchestrated an empowering workshop titled "Journey of Our Young Entrepreneurs," aimed at fostering the entrepreneurial spirit among the budding student entrepreneurs. This innovative workshop provided a platform for students to not only learn about their business but also to promote and showcase their own business ventures.

The event commenced with a motivating speech by our principal Mr. R.K Bhandari. Our young entrepreneurs shared their entrepreneurial journeys, each armed with unique businesses and passion for innovation. These stories served as source of inspiration and motivation for the aspiring student entrepreneurs, reminding them of the limitless possibilities that lie ahead on their own entrepreneurial paths.
