BMW to add 7 new models to its line-up

The battle for the top spot in the Luxury car segment is on and how. While Mercedes-Benz adopted an aggressive strategy in the first quarter of 2015, Audi and BMW have introduced quite a few new models in the second quarter. BMW introduced the first ever hybrid supercar in India sometime back in the i8, and more recently also launched the X6. With recently launched X6 facelift has been priced at Rs 1.15 crore and will compete against the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. But the plans for the year are far from over for the Bavarian car maker.

Aside from the i8 and the X6, BMW also intends to bring in the X5 M, X6 M, 1 Series facelift and the 3 Series facelift. Also on the cards is a facelifted version of its popular mid-sized Sedan 5 Series and the luxurious 7 Series. Aside from the M cars, most of these are mere facelifts, which means they are expected to get minor changes in its design and better interiors along with a longer features list.

From among the aforementioned cars, refreshed versions of the 1 Series, 3 Series and the 5 Series have already been showcased in the international market. Each of these cars will go on sale in India before the end of the calendar year. It has been a while since the launch of the 7 Series and to stay on par with the competition it will also get minor updates before the next-generation models are launched in the future. The Munich-based car maker will also bring in the next-generation 2016 X1 later this year.

With BMW sourcing more parts locally, they have recently reduced the prices of all its locally assembled models. In fact, with the X6 facelift being the fifth model to be launched this year, BMW too plans to bring in 15 cars to compete against the 15 in '15 strategy of Mercedes-Benz. And these launches will take the fight a notch higher giving Mercedes-Benz and Audi something to think about.

Ford Figo Aspire bookings to commence on July 27

Bookings for the Ford Figo Aspire will commence on July 27 with a minimum booking amount of Rs 30,000.
Ford is all set to mark its entry in the sub-4 metre Sedan segment with the new Figo Aspire. With the launch of the car scheduled sometime in August, Ford will commence booking of the car with a minimum booking amount of Rs 30,000 on July 27.

Interested buyers can choose from an option of petrol or diesel engine. The Figo Aspire comes with a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT unit that delivers 88PS and 112Nm. The diesel on the other hand makes 100PS and 215Nm from the 1.5-litre engine. The gasoline Figo Aspire claims an efficiency of 18.2kmpl while the diesel would return 25.8kmpl. Both these engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Aside from this, the Figo Aspire will also be offered with an automatic gearbox. In fact, the automatic Figo Aspire will come exclusively with a 1.5-litre petrol mill that produces 110PS and 136Nm.

In terms of looks, the Ford Figo Aspire is quite a handsome looking car. Up front is the large Aston Martin inspired grille that gives it a bold stance. The rear is flat much like any other car in its class but has a well layered boot and bumper. The chrome on the boot gives it an eye-catching appearance at the back.

In terms of features, the Figo Aspire is expected to come quite heavily loaded. Aside from the standard Bluetooth telephony, integrated infotainment system and steering mounted phone and audio controls, it comes with automatic climate control and height adjustable seats. All versions of the Aspire come standard with ABS and two airbags. The top of the line Aspire on the other hand comes with a staggering six airbags.

The Ford Figo Aspire will be launched in seven colours. Ruby Red, Sparkling Gold, Oxford White, Tuxedo Black, Deep Impact Blue, Ingot Silver and Smoke Grey. The Figo Aspire will go on sale in August and is expected to be priced around Rs 5-8 lakh. When launched, it will go against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Zest.

2016 Toyota Fortuner revealed

The 2016 Toyota Fortuner retains the same silhouette as the current generation, but the overall design has been given an overhaul, right from the face to the rear. The 2016 Fortuner will also get new engine options.
Toyota has officially revealed the much-anticipated 2016 Fortuner, which is expected to make its way to India next year, and probably before that, showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.

As with the current generation Fortuner, the 2016 model is also based on the Toyota HiLux but gets edgier design to set it apart from the current range of Toyota off-roaders and pick-ups.
The overall silhouette of the new Fortuner is still butch and muscular, but it gets a new face with a v-shaped grille flanked by thick chrome and new sleek headlamps, with LED daytime running lights on the top-spec variant. The front bumper is all-new as well, with several cuts and creases and the rather unusual recesses for the fog lamps, surrounded again by generous amount of chrome.

On the profile, the new Fortuner gets subtle changes in design, the most prominent being the belt line with a prominent and attention-grabbing kink in the C-pillar. What’s also noticeable is the floating, ‘pillar-less roof design’ thanks to the blacked out and glass-finished C and D pillars. Depending on the trim levels, in this case three, termed the GX, GXL and Crusade, there are 17-inch and 18-inch alloys on offer, roof rails, fog lamps, reverse parking sensors, keyless smart entry and start, downhill assist control, b-LED headlamps and LED DRLs.
On the inside too, the new 2016 Toyota Fortuner gets a complete revamp and much better looking cabin. Again, depending on the trim levels, the interiors could be available in a smart all-black theme as well as a dual tone leather scheme with faux, brushed aluminium highlights. Overall, you may wonder if the new Fortuner is actually better looking than the current generation SUV, but it’s certain to grab attention. And in India, the overplayed face of the new Fortuner is sure to find quite a sizeable fan following.

Under the hood too, the new Toyota Fortuner gets a new 2.8-litre direct-injection, four cylinder turbo diesel engine rated at 177PS. Maximum torque from the engine is rated at 420Nm for the manual and 450Nm for the automatic. Both gearboxes – a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic – are new as well. And then the suspension package has been tweaked too – double wishbones at the front and a five-link coil spring configuration at the rear which is said to improve ride over different kinds of surfaces. New front and rear stabilizer bars are also expected to improve handling and minimize body roll.
In addition, another significant technical change on the new Fortuner is the drive system, which instead of the full time all-wheel system on the current generation model, will be a part-time system on the new car. The 2016 Toyota Fortuner will get a shift-on-the-fly four wheel drive system with both high or low range settings. Off-road capabilities are also further enhanced by a rear differential lock, for better off-road performance and the components of the diff lock is placed within the differential housing for greater off-road protection.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a series of full-size luxury sedans produced by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz, a division of German company Daimler AG. The classification was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116 S-Class, which succeeded previous Mercedes-Benz models dating to the mid-1950s. The S-Class has served as the flagship model for Mercedes for over fifty years in its various incarnations. The S-Class has debuted many of the company's latest innovations, including drivetrain technologies, interior features, and safety systems (such as the first seatbelt pretensioners).[2] The S-Class has ranked as the world's best-selling luxury sedan,[3] and its latest generation, the W222 S-Class, premiered in 2013. All models built in Mexico or sold in the United States are only available in long wheelbase.

"S-Class" is the anglicized version of "S-Klasse," a German abbreviation of "Sonderklasse," which means "special class" (in the sense of "a class of its own"). In automotive terms it refers to "a specially outfitted car." Although used colloquially for decades, following its official application in 1972, six generations of officially named S-Klasse sedans have been produced. Previous two-door coupe models of the S-Class were known as SEC and later S-Coupe. In 1998 the S-Class coupe was spun off in a separate line as the CL-Class, however as of June 2014, it has been re-designated as the S-Class Coupé for the 2015 model year, doing away with the CL-Class.
