India's Trade Minister Piyush Goyal will have a one-on-one meeting with his Chinese counterpart on Tuesday at the G-20 summit in Italy, the government said in a statement.

Goyal will also meet other trade ministers, including those from the United States, South Korea, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, and Canada, among others.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved infusion of capital worth ₹4,400 crore in ECGC Ltd over a period of five years and listing of the public sector undertaking in FY23.

"The approved infusion along with efforts made to suitably synchronize with the listing process of ECGC through the Initial Public Offering will increase the underwriting capacity of ECGC to support more exports. ECGC has shown continuous surplus and made dividend payments to the Govt. for last 20 years,"

The US’s and the EU’s share of most import sectors is expected to decline out to 2030 as the growing purchasing power of Asia’s middle-class accounts for a rising share of global import demand. Businesses are allowed to import precious metals duty free provided they re-export within three months. There are several state agencies and other RBI-approved entities that take benefit of this provision. The new notification gives extra time of six months if the due date for exports falls between 1 February and 30 June 2021"

Since July 20, community-spread infections have been confirmed in about 30 cities across China, including Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing. The south of the nation has been in lockdown for nearly a month with massive ship queues building in the South China Sea.

In the last couple of months, India’s exports have seen encouraging signs. In July, it jumped 47.9% year-on-year to $35.17 billion this year. Spurred by these numbers, the government has set a merchandise export target of $400 billion for 2021-22. However, the headline numbers don’t tell the entire story.

Ship availability hit by quarantine norms; pile-up of goods is leading to default of export commitments.

The fast recovery in corporate earnings across sectors, led largely by booming exports, is under threat due to congestion at ports and rising shipping costs.

The growing demand for rice is expected to be a big boost for exporters of the commodity in India. Even though Bangladesh is the third-biggest rice producer in the world with 35 million tonnes a year, it depends on imports from other countries to deal with shortages caused by natural disasters like floods and drought.

Andhra Pradesh, the country’s second-largest exporter of coffee, exported coffee worth $142 million in the financial year 2020-21. The State government is encouraging coffee production in Araku valley and other places for the past few years.

According to a high-level decision, the government is to ease import restrictions on several product categories required to manufacture value-added and export-based products for the export market while retaining the ban on vehicle and non-essential imports.
