Fear can be normal in stressful situations such as public speaking or taking a test; as long as it is a driving force. Fear is essential for survival as it fuels our Fight-Or-Flight reactions.
But if these feelings of fear and worry persist long after the environmental trigger is removed, or when no trigger is present, it can be identified as irrational fear or anxiety.
Anxiety is only an indicator of underlying disease when feelings become excessive, all-consuming and interfere with daily living.
