Post Covid Recovery and Gut health.
Over the last week, I’ve been discussing covid recovery protocols, and there’s one common post-infection symptom among so many people - gut issues , lose motion and stomach cramps.
Even though covid is primarily a respiratory disease, it does impact our gut. And that’s because the virus enters our cells by latching onto protein receptors called ACE2. And we have the largest number of ACE2 receptors in our gut.
Once the infection enters your gut, it changes the gut microbiome which leads to inflammation and causes diarrhea, indigestion and even pain every time you eat. The abdominal pain is also caused due to inflammation in the gut nerves.
The virus can stay in the gut for a longer time as compared to the respiratory tract. And the only way to recover from it to strengthen your gut microbiota.
If you’re facing gut issues post covid, please make a point to strictly remove ALL processed food from diet and follow these nutrition guidelines:
✅ Add specific veggies and fruits that reduce inflammation such as apples, berries, tomatoes, celery and onions.
✅ Eat fermented foods to increase “good bacteria,” a.k.a. probiotics that help your immune system.
✅ Stay hydrated. Water helps flush out toxins and also carries oxygen to your entire body.
✅Get some omega-3s (I’ve done a reel on this)
✅ Do atlist 30min of physical activity.
✅ take L - glutamine supplement under guidance of Dietitian-Nutritionist or doctor.
If your gut is extremely sensitive, you might need some professional help.

Here's the truth. 🔥
▶️ It won't be easy.
▶️ It won't be fast, nor should it be.
▶️ True habit change takes time - months, even years.
▶️ Tracking can tedious as hell, but some form of tracking is absolutely necessary.
▶️ Some days/weeks you'll feel great!! Other days/weeks you'll question your capabilities, and whether or not you can stick with it because of the other stressors in your life. (The answer is: yes, you can. 👏)
▶️ You'll have to work harder than you ever have, to get somewhere you've never been.
▶️ You'll need to be consistent, or you'll undo everything you've done.
▶️ You'll have to deal with people who may not have your best interest in mind, or understand your goals. You'll need to effectively navigate this, and welcome it as a great challenge.
▶️ You'll need to be willing to be uncomfortable at times.
▶️ You'll need to overcome instant gratification.
▶️ Your excuses are simply that: excuses. They can be sneaky at times. You'll need to recognize them, and find a way around them.
If weight loss was easy, we wouldn't be dealing with an obesity epidemic in the India
But it takes consistency, effort, discipline and time. Rinse and repeat.
So take it slow, and celebrate your small wins along the way, the PROCESS is more important than the end goal. 😄
