Teeth get discolored due to several reasons. Each situation has to be treated on its own merit after careful examination and diagnosis.
Here we have given veneers only on the two teeth that had turned yellow to improve the lady’s smile and boost her confidence.
Wish you a very happy holi.. Holi should be colorful.. Not your teeth!!!
Each tooth has 5 surfaces. This includes the surfaces in between 2 teeth which never get cleaned with our brush.
At 90% of all cavities we treat are at the in between surfaces.
The ONLY effective way to clean these areas is to floss EVERYDAY! Not only when there’s food stuck or once in a while.
So keep this love affair going and floss like a boss 👍🏽

A complex situation where she had both upper lateral incisors congenitally missing.
Our initial plan was to push the canines using braces and create space for 2 implants to replace the missing teeth.
However, there wasn’t adequate space available to achieve this. Instead, we closed the extra space using braces and made the canines look like the missing incisors using ceramic veneers.
The ‘after’ pictures are follow up photos taken 4 years after completion of this treatment.

Just like our cars which we maintain so well, our teeth need regular and diligent maintenance. So don’t ignore your teeth just because you have no trouble or pain.

A drastic transformation. This patient was referred by his friend asking me to ‘please do something’ for his teeth.
Multiple issues going on with missing teeth in the lower jaw, badly chipped teeth in the upper jaw and huge gaps in the front teeth.
This transformation required some fillings, implants and crowns.

A simple yet powerful transformation by working only on the front 4 teeth.
Resolved issues related to repeated decay, changes in colour and an unaesthetic crown with leaky margins.
This transformation required a root canal, some fillings, 2 crowns and 2 veneers.

It’s Diwali season, and we all know what that means. So here are some tips to enjoy all the sweets and savories without worrying about your teeth.
Bridge vs Implant:
Whenever a tooth is required to be extracted or is already missing, it’s important to start the discussion about having a replacement for that tooth.
The two options we have for a fixed replacement are a bridge or an implant.
Bridge:
A bridge is fixed onto the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth. It requires these teeth to be prepared or trimmed down to create space for the bridge.
Advantages of a bridge:
1. It’s quick.
2. Doesn’t require any surgery.
Disadvantages of a bridge:
1. Requires two healthy teeth to be trimmed down increasing the risk of sensitivity, decay or infection in these teeth.
2. It’s difficult to clean underneath the bridge.
Implant:
An implant is like a screw which is placed into the jaw bone, which is then used as a foundation to mount a crown onto it, thus replacing the missing tooth.
Advantages of an Implant:
1. It avoids involving adjacent teeth thus avoiding complications in them.
2. It looks, feels and functions the closest to a natural tooth.
3. Easy to clean, similar to a natural tooth.
Disadvantages of an Implant:
1. It takes longer to complete.
2. Requires a minor surgery to insert the implant.
In Conclusion:
Both are viable options to replace a missing tooth with their own pros and cons. Discuss with your dentist what is a better option for you.
These 3 mistakes are crucial in the long term health of our teeth:
1. We don’t clean our teeth well enough:
Keeping our teeth clean is like being at war. 10mins after we brush our teeth, dental plaque starts to form once again. Which is why brushing twice a day is recommended.
Additionally, we need to floss daily to clean those surfaces of the teeth where our brush never reaches. This increases our risk of decay and gum disease.
2. We don’t visit the dentist regularly:
It’s human nature to not want to visit any doctor unless there’s some pain or trouble. But going to the dentist regularly can actually prevent trouble and pain to a large extent. Visiting the dentist every 6 months and getting a professional cleaning allows them to examine your teeth thoroughly which allows for early detection of cavities and gum disease.
3. When we do visit the dentist we don’t land up completing our entire treatment:
We usually delay going to the dentist until it’s absolutely necessary and then once our pain is relieved after the first couple of visits we tend to slip back into our shells and avoid the dentist. This leaves incomplete work in our mouths which it’s bound to crop up again later.
This is usually expressed as a smile makeover. Why? Because it’s TRENDY!!!
Is it improving the esthetics? ABSOLUTELY!!
BUT..
This in my books is a functional transformation rather than a cosmetic one. This treatment replaces missing teeth with some implants, it covers up badly broken down teeth with crowns, restores their ability to chew; and most importantly improves the life of all remaining natural teeth.
The cosmetic advantage is HUGE no doubt! But this is for us will always be a functional transformation.
What do you think? Comment below and share this with someone who is avoiding their dental treatment because they don’t want anything ‘Cosmetic’.
‘By the time you have pain, it’s probably already late.’
It can take months, sometimes years and rarely even decades before you experience pain with a tooth problem.
Pain arises suddenly, but the problem has certainly been brewing for a lot longer.
The best way to avoid the dentist is to actually visit them twice a year; irrespective of pain and especially if you have no pain.
A functional transformation which adds immense value for an individual.
Mr. Bhandari had severe wear and tear of all his teeth which led to reduced ability to chew, loss of teeth, failure of previous dental treatments and a compromised smile.
The objective here isn’t to just restore his teeth and smile but to eliminate the cause of the wear and tear which lies in the muscle posture of the lower jaw. Correcting that posture will ensure that his teeth last a lot longer and maintain his dental health for many years to come.
The cosmetic advantage is secondary but automatic. It can bring about a massive improvement in your confidence and self esteem and can give you a renewed energy to take on the world.
😊
Morning breath is a natural occurrence for all of us. For some a little more than others. You can’t avoid it. But you sure can take steps to reduce it.
How do you manage your morning breath? Comment below if you do anything differently.
Bad breath or halitosis is a condition that lead to a foul smell or odor from the mouth.
It can lead to some very embarrassing situations in both your personal and professional lives and can be caused due to many reason:
1. Remanant food stuck in between teeth.
2. Certain pungent foods like onions and garlic.
3. Poor dental hygiene.
4. Cavities or infections in the mouth.
5. Unclean tongue.
6. Dry mouth.
7. Cold, cough, sinus infections.
8. Digestive problems.
9. Excessive alcohol consumption.
10. Smoking or use of other forms of to***co.
11. Due to some medications.
And more..
Ask a close friend, partner, spouse or confidant to check your breath for you.
Visit a dentist to evaluate what is the cause of the bad breath. It’s important to know the cause in order to treat it.
In most cases a simple cleaning at the dentist followed by proper dental hygiene habits may suffice.
Chewing gums, mints, mouth fresheners and mouthwashes will only give you a temporary fix but will do nothing to treat the bad breath.
