Upon completing my Bachelor of Engineering with distinction, I found myself without a job. I started looking for internship opportunities in electronic companies, to no avail. It was then that our Training and Placement Officer (TPO) informed me about a 3-month training opportunity at Forbes Marshall, in collaboration with CII. I eagerly sent in my application and was excited to receive a confirmation of selection from Dhamankar Sir the very next day.

The training commenced on November 8th, 2013 with a total of 33 participants, including me. Previous participants of the programme share their experience with us during the inaugural function. During the ensuing classroom sessions, we were introduced to the various product lines offered by Forbes Marshall; I was overwhelmed by the quantum of information.

I was delighted to be appointed as class monitor, a role that allowed me to enhance my leadership skills. It required me to co-ordinate the finer details, make sure things run smoothly and also serve as a communication bridge between the class and Dhamankar Sir (although every trainee could speak directly to him at any time).

I was most intrigued by flowmeters, and chose this product line for my hands-on training. Over the course of five weeks, I delved into model coding, manufacturing processes, electronics, calibration, and supply chain intricacies. Working with the R&D department during the launch of a new vortex flow transmitter, and being involved in various test stages, provided me with invaluable experience. I was also assigned to build a small resistor circuit to be used for the temperature cycling of these new flow transmitters which I finished successfully. This further fuelled my hunger for learning.

I was very happy when the team requested a 2-week extension at the end of my hands-on session, as this showed they recognised my potential. However, I had already been assigned for my second hands-on training on control valves. A temporary arrangement allowed me to work with both teams for some time. For control valves, I contributed to a dynamic response test project, during which I was able to put to use my training in Lab VIEW, MATLAB, MS Excel, and Mathwork platform.

Alongside hands-on training, we attended weekly sessions covering topics such as communication skills, presentation skills, marketing and public speaking. Visits to the other Forbes Marshall facilities and CSR engagement were also arranged. These activities significantly contributed to our personal and professional development. I prepared my final presentation, which was selected as the 2nd best, using guidance from the presentation session. The training also provided us with the invaluable opportunity to Interact with Mr Farhad Forbes and Jehangir Ardeshir from the management team.

The entire training programme was a transformative experience, offering more than just technical knowledge. We even got a chance to perform at the company annual day celebrations, fostering a sense of family spirit. The most significant outcome for me was gaining a mentor like Dhamankar Sir, who will always be a guiding light.

Several of the trainees in the batch, including myself, secured roles within Forbes Marshall. Post my marriage two years later, I moved to the UK. Since then, I have held positions in instrumentation companies such as Endress+Hauser and WIKA. I am currently Area Sales Manager for South UK at ABB Limited.

Creating an inclusive workspace goes beyond having individuals with diverse backgrounds and skills. This was evident in a recent Indian Sign Language session organised at Forbes Marshall as part of our Diversity initiative. The workshop aimed to acquaint participants with the basics of sign language, initially spanning eight sessions and later extended to nine, with each session lasting an hour per week. Conducted by proficient Indian Sign Language instructor Malvika, who herself has a 60% hearing impairment, the workshop drew leaders and their speech and hearing-impaired interns. This marked the initiation of Indian Sign Language classes at Forbes Marshall, with more anticipated in the future. The successful conclusion of these classes set a robust precedent for inclusivity within our organisation, emphasising that genuine communication goes beyond spoken words.

In 2012, I embarked on my journey with Forbes Marshall as a Management Trainee in the Talent Acquisition Team within the Human Relations Team. Within a year and a half, I transitioned to MIDC, assuming the role of Business HR Partner for select product divisions.

Throughout my tenure, I had the opportunity to work in several roles. Whether in a Business HR role, leading Change Management projects, contributing to initiatives like MTConnect, International Operations – BHR, or overseeing BHR Operations in Pune, for the MIDC and Kasarwadi locations along with Forbes Marshall Hyderabad, I've experienced tremendous personal and professional growth. Each year at Forbes Marshall, I have prioritised continuous learning to ensure my role remains both engaging and valuable to those around me. This commitment led me to become a CII HR Excellence Assessor and earn Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credentials from the International Coaching Federation.

I feel privileged to have been recognized with the Values Champion Award, an acknowledgment I hold dear as a testament to the organisation's confidence in my contributions. Over the last 11 years, working under the guidance of leaders within Human Relations such as Bobby Kuriakose, Pratik Ghosh, Sachin Narke, and Amit Warang and beyond the department, I've been fortunate to receive unwavering support and motivation. Their trust in me exceeded my own self-assurance, encouraging me to consistently deliver results aligned with Forbes Marshall's values, closely mirroring my personal values.

My key takeaways from Forbes Marshall include the understanding that investing in your work, adding value, taking initiative, driving change, and maintaining discipline are the keys to success and productivity. I've always been encouraged to voice my beliefs, fostering an environment where empowerment cascades throughout the team. To witness positive change, I've learned to embody the change I wish to see.

We are proud to share that Forbes Marshall won the prestigious ESGBusiness award titled India for Social Transformation on 6th November 2023 in Singapore. The panel of judges from PwC, KPMG and Deloitte focused on tangible actions that the applicants provided and how those initiatives differentiate them from their peers in terms of creating ESG impact. They also noted greenwashing risks, sustainability in supply chains, and tackling social aspects of business as the most critical challenges in ESG today.

We showcased our impact under the Social Compact initiative which addresses the S of Environment Social Governance (ESG). Forbes Marshall is one of the founding members of Social Compact (SoCo), a unique initiative which brings together stakeholders from corporates, worker organisations and experts to ensure greater dignity and security of vulnerable informal industry-employed workers in India. We help informal workers gain access to timely wages, government health insurance schemes, access to government schemes for their family members, and safety awareness sessions, thereby improving their quality of life. These initiatives are being cascaded across our .

Over the last year, Forbes Marshall has been able to drive 3 significant areas of impact:

➡ #1 Pioneered 2 Centres (WFC and WAC) in Pune, India: provides >10,000 migrants access to health, social security, and entitlements. Facilitated >3000 entitlements; assisted >600 injured workers.

➡ #2 Parivartan (i.e. Change): A supplier skill enhancement programme to build competitive & efficient organisations. A 2022-23 pilot saw average productivity increase by 15%.

➡ #3 Enhancing employability of Government Industrial Training Institute students: 2 batches from our manufacturing excellence centre in Chakan in 2023 resulted in 80 trained technicians for our ecosystem.

These initiatives are scalable and we look forward to other SoCo members and Industry partners joining us on this journey.

I joined Forbes Marshall as a Graduate Trainee Engineer in 2008. I was placed in the Steam Systems Division reporting to Yogesh Apshankar and assigned a project in the pharmaceutical industry. I realised early enough in my training period that this wasn't going to be smooth sailing as Mukund Deshpande (my reporting manager) pointed out a crucial error in my report. I felt disheartened that the ownership of the outcome was resting only with me. I pondered over the situation and made a decision: I wouldn't dwell on failure and would always give my best. It was a great learning experience that at Forbes Marshall one needs to own the outcomes whether they are good or bad.

After my training period, I was given the responsibility for the OEM business. I focused on both working closely with existing OEMs and adding new OEMs, leading to significant growth in business. My sincerity was appreciated and I was entrusted with the additional responsibility of handling projects. My manager at the time,Vivek Shinde, said to me, "You should work on growing projects business and explore the true potential of each project in a systematic way." This empowered me and allowed me to learn the industry specific solutions and make independent decisions. The freedom to innovate led to an impressive year-on-year growth for two consecutive years. Our commitment to a holistic approach ensured we didn't lose a single project order. I won the “Best Engineer Award” for two consecutive years and was thrilled by the recognition that came my way.

Over the past 15 years, I have had the privilege of working with the stalwarts of Forbes Marshall. Vivek taught me to persevere in my beliefs. Vaibhav Pradhan stressed the importance of strong customer relationships through constant pursuit. Satyadeo Purohit offered valuable guidance on the analysis of the smallest details to draw meaning inferences that are the stepping stones for significant results. Naushad Forbes has always encouraged all of us to work on the sole concept of Customer Benefits first and products are incidental to the solution. And lastly, I'm grateful to my friends who made my work fun-filled and are now are a part of my ecosystem, more like a family - Jamal , Ketan, Ashay, Amol , Aditya, Shailesh, Pranav, Ritu and Atul.

has given me opportunities to learn from my mistakes, which is rare in the corporate world. The company's working culture, the accessibility, and approachability to everyone makes Forbes Marshall feel like a second home away from home. #ReachingOutwithFM The places where we work have been super important in helping our business grow. At #ForbesMarshall, we really care about these places, and it's super important to us. Here are some pictures of our team helping out in the community during #BeyondBusinessWeek.

We had a great time hosting students from our NGO partner, iTeach, College to Career programme, at our Chakan manufacturing plant as a part of the . This visit was all about showing the students how a factory works and the hard work that goes into it. Our members did an excellent job, sharing lots of info about our manufacturing unit and what we make.

Our team also went to the Worker Facilitation Centre (WFC) by Ajeevika Bureau, one of our important programs. They got to see how the WFC helps migrant communities who need support.

To support education and innovation, members of the Standard Electronics team held a workshop for high school students from Khed. About 22 students came, and they learned all about automatic street lights and LED technology. The students were really excited and eager to learn during the session. 🌟📚💡

At Forbes Marshall, we think businesses can make a big difference. Beyond Business Week is all about going beyond the usual business practices. During our second Beyond Business Week (B*W), we had a special exhibition at all our Pune locations. This exhibition featured organisations with eco-friendly solutions and products that help the environment.

During our eco solutions exhibition, we showcased the innovative efforts of several organisations committed to environmental sustainability and making a positive impact.

Here are some of the standout moments from the exhibition:

'Umang' is more than just an organisation; it's a movement led by women. They empower and educate women, giving them opportunities beyond traditional roles as daughters, wives, and mothers. Umang's goal is to become a women-led business and use the profits to help its members.

Waste Not, Upcycle Instead! The women of Umang showcased various products made from old clothes like sarees, jeans, and more. These items were upcycled, which means they were turned into new things instead of being thrown away. It's a great way to reduce waste and help the environment.

Our members had the chance to explore creative exhibits by organisations like Keshav Sita Trust, Orjabox, and Samuchit Envirotech. They showed solutions like turning plastic waste into fuel, clean cooking alternatives, solar products, and more.

I had dreamed of a job with Forbes Marshall since my VIT, Pune days. I had had the privilege of collaborating with Forbes Marshall on a project, alongside my now-wife, who was just a friend back then.

After completing my engineering degree, I initially joined a different company, but soon received an opportunity to join Forbes Marshall. I vividly recall my interviews with Datta, Vinod, and Naushad. I was delighted to see senior personnel taking a keen interest in potential hires.

I joined the company in 2008 and have since been working on exciting projects. Datta Kuvalekar has been an incredibly influential figure in my career. He always believed in me, appreciated my positive attitude and also guided me to explore new horizons.

My first assignment was EffiMax™ - a digitally connected boiler efficiency monitoring solution way ahead of its time. In 2009, I was assigned to a groundbreaking project that involved creating a machine with radioactive technology in just three months. During this period, I obtained a Radioactive Safety Officer certification by BARC's AERB.

My focus then shifted to projects involving DCS application. In 2014, I tested the first major application for ER series DCS, which is still operational. This experience honed my expertise in PLC, HMI, and SCADA software programming.

In 2016, a completely new project called Process MAC was initiated. These solutions are tailored to enhance equipment efficiency and productivity goals of our customers in diverse industry sectors. I simultaneously embarked on a valve sizing software project and established a small R&D software team tasked with developing technical sizing software.

In 2019, I was entrusted with the responsibility of building SwissNewater machines in India and establishing a factory for future production.I managed the entire process single-handedly from purchase to production to sales single-handedly. Notably, this was all achieved during the challenging Covid-19 period.

Forbes Marshall boasts a fantastic culture and a strong sense of camaraderie. I'm now a board member of ISA, Pune Section, where I handle the role of Program Chair. I also play a vital role in fostering Industry-Academia connections at Cummins and VIT. Additionally, I'm involved in the Deepastambha Charitable Trust for social work and received the Forbes Marshall Social Work of the Year Award in 2016. At Forbes Marshall, I have the freedom to pursue my ideas and dreams for the company's growth without the fear of failure.
