Shibori is the Japanese word for a variety of ways to resist-dye textiles. There are countless ways to create the effect. Essentially, any way you can think of to fold, twist, stitch, or bind fabric before dyeing will achieve the look. And while the results are currently on trend—you'll find it in all shapes and forms in home décor—the process is also extremely meditative. Folding and binding without really knowing what to expect when you unwrap the dyed piece is a thrill in and of itself, making this art form low pressure with consistently beautiful results. Just remember: With all tutorials, you should always iron and pre-wash fabric before dyeing to remove wrinkles. Then, choose one (or many) of these bundling styles to create a pattern.
This Japanese technique dates back to the 8th century. Traditionally, a white cloth (usually silk, h**p, or cotton) was folded, bunched, or twisted, then tied, and finally dipped into a natural indigo dye. Over the centuries, artisans have developed many methods. In "arashi," the cloth is wrapped around a pole to result a striated pattern that mimics heavy rain from a storm; in "itajime," the cloth is folded accordion style and then held in place with two sturdy pieces of wood to result in geometric grids; in "kumo," the cloth is tightly bound into tiny pleats to result in a series of spindly spiderwebs. These are some of the more popular styles, and there are other techniques like them. Each one results in a different design, although it can be argued that no two dyed pieces come out the same.

(AUTHENTIC MAHARASHTRA VIDARBHA TUSSAR SILK SAREE)
The word
Karvati means (saw tooth) Kinaar means(border) sarees are handwoven using the three-shuttle technique in the weaving cluster of Vidarbha district of Maharashtra.
The abundantly rich forests of the Vidarbha region, in the eastern-most part of Maharashtra, produce naturally-found silkworms, that feed off bushes and trees. Unlike cutivated silk (Mulberry), Tussar is a wild silk obtained from silkworms that grow only in the forests, and the silk produced from these unruptured cocoon is a lustrous golden hue.
Vidarbha region is famous for its Kosa (Tussar) yarn found locally in the forests of Vidarbha. Hand woven Tussar Karvati Kinar Sarees have been loved across the country for their simplicity and elegance. Presenting all the available Karvati Kinar Vidarbha Tussar ..colours are given below

This primary source of shikargah design has been an inspiration to create the “vanasingaram'' motif Kanchipuram silks. “Vanasingaram” literally translates in to 'glory of the forest' shows how a variety of forms and figures including trees, creepers, flowers, birds, animals are incorporated into a single pattern.
A herringbone stitch is a needlework stitch used in embroidery, knitting and crochet. It is so named as it resembles the bones extending from the spine of a herring fish. In knitting, it is a stitch that creates a fabric pattern closely resembling a herringbone pattern, or herringbone cloth. How to hand embroider Closed Herringbone stitch
This stitch is worked from left to right between two lines. Commence by bringing the needle out on the bottom left-hand side of the line to be worked.
Insert the needle on the upper line a little to the right and make a small stitch which points to the left. Have the needle emerge next to the previous stitch.

Kantha (also spelled kanta, and qanta) is a type of embroidery craft in the eastern regions of the Indian subcontinent, specifically in Bangladesh and in the Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura and Odisha. In Odisha, old saris are stacked on each other and hand-stitched to make a thin piece of cushion. There are seven different types of kantha: Lep kantha are rectangular wraps heavily padded to make warm coverlets. The entire piece would be stitched in wavy, rippled designs over which simple embroidery was executed. Sujani kantha are rectangular pieces of cloth used as blankets or spreads on ceremonial occasions. What thread does Kantha embroidery use?
All you need is two pieces of fabric - fat 1/4's are a great way to start and then you can turn it into a cute pillow. Embroidery thread or pearl cotton for stitching, and a needle. (I personally need a needle threader sometimes) and some scissors.

In sewing and embroidery, a satin stitch or damask stitch is a series of flat stitches that are used to completely cover a section of the background fabric. Narrow rows of satin stitch can be executed on a standard sewing machine using a zigzag stitch or a special satin stitch foot.
How many threads do you need for satin stitch?
For starters I like to use 2 strands of floss as much as possible. Of course in some of my patterns it may call for 1 thread or 3 threads at times, but my preference is to use 2. I find that this is the easiest way to work to achieve a neat finish, less tangles and generally a better stitching experience.
