Don’t forget to moisturise
One of the most common mistakes people make is forgetting to moisturise the under eye area. It is important to note that the skin surrounding your eye is particularly sensitive and thus needs twice the attention! Leaving the eye area too dry causes it to stretch and tighten in ways you wouldn’t want visible on your face. Take care to generously nourish this sensitive skin with a balm, butter, eye-cream or serum right before you head to bed and you’ll notice a positive difference in the morning. Caffeine and Shea Butter are known to be two ingredients that aid in firming and hydrating the eye-skin. What’s more, applying your eye makeup the next day will be a cake-walk because the skin is left hydrated and smooth.

Cut the crap
Cut out all your salty mid-day snacks to reduce puffiness around your eyes. A high-sodium diet intensifies under eye bags and swelling. In addition, rather than easing puffiness with fresh cucumber opt for raw potato. Along with calming down your skin to leave it refreshed, raw potato also contains an enzyme that will help brighten the under eye area to leave your peepers positively glowing.

Don’t over-pluck
As you grow older it is only natural that your hair is going to grow thinner and this includes your eyebrow hair. Which is why, over plucking your brows now will be doing you more damage than good. We recommend that you use a pair of tweezers to simply clean up your eyebrow arch and this will help to open up your eyes. To go one step further use an eye-lash curler to really make your eyes pop and you’ll be set with a bright, sparkling set of eyes!

Heartburn and acid indigestion can be caused by a number of factors, including poor diet, minor health conditions, obesity, and food sensitivities. In some cases, heartburn and acid indigestion can be symptoms of a serious underlying medical condition, so it’s important to check with your doctor before trying to treat the conditions yourself. If your doctor can find no medical reason for your condition, try these 7 tips for getting rid of heartburn and acid indigestion.

1. Ginger

Ginger has long been used as a remedy for treating digestive disorders. Make a hot drink to combat heartburn and acid indigestion by grating a piece of root ginger (approximately 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger) and leaving it to infuse in a cup of boiling water for 5 minutes. Strain the liquid through a sieve or piece of cheesecloth to remove the grated ginger, and then add a teaspoon of honey for sweetness.

2. Fennel

Fennel is another popular remedy used for digestive problems, especially acid indigestion and heartburn. Fennel tea can be bought from most health food stores. Alternatively, you can cook fennel as part of your meals to help prevent digestive problems from starting in the first place.

3. Slow down

One cause of heartburn and acid indigestion is eating too fast. By rushing through your mealtimes, you don’t give your food the chance to digest properly. This leads to indigestion, heartburn, flatulence, and stomach pains. Chew your food properly and take your time when eating your meals.

4. Quit smoking

Smoking is another common cause of digestive problems. Quitting smoking can provide almost instant relief for many heartburn sufferers. If you don’t feel ready to quit smoking yet, try not to smoke straight away after meals. Aim to leave at least half an hour after a heavy meal before having a cigarette.

5. Avoid common triggers

Some foods are simply more likely to cause heartburn than others. Foods like garlic, onions, and spicy foods cause problems for many people susceptible to digestive problems. Fruit may also cause problems for some people as many fruits produce gases in the stomach, leading to indigestion and flatulence.

6. Try a food sensitivity test

Many people have their own personal trigger foods that cause heartburn and indigestion. A food sensitivity test can be used to help identify your own trigger foods. Food sensitivity tests should be performed by a qualified professional, preferably a medical doctor.

7. Stay upright

Lying down after meals is another common cause of heartburn and acid indigestion. Avoid lying down for at least two hours after a heavy meal, as this should allow enough time for the food to digest. If you have trouble with heartburn while trying to sleep, try raising the head of the bed a few inches (e.g. place a couple of thick books under the legs) as this can alleviate acid indigestion.

While high blood pressure (also know as hypertension) is a serious health problem, there’s good news. No matter what your age or physical condition, there are things you can do to prevent high blood pressure.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services offers these 8 tips to help you prevent high blood pressure, or reduce your blood pressure if it’s already a problem.

Are you overweight? Lose weight:

Maintaining a healthy weight (see your doctor about this) will help prevent high blood pressure. Getting back to a healthy weight is not as hard as it sounds. You can start by limiting the portion size of your meals and snacks, and cut way back on high calorie foods. If you eat as many calories as you burn each day, you’ll maintain your weight. Eating fewer calories than you burn will help you lose weight. And losing weight will help lower your blood pressure.

When you plan meals, think of your heart:

Choose a diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables. Keep total fat low and avoid foods that are high in saturated fats and cholesterol. Having a healthy heart will help prevent blood pressure.

Eat less salt and sodium:

Salt and sodium can increase blood pressure, so it’s important to read food labels. The U.S. guidelines suggest limiting sodium intake to no more than 2,400 mg, or about 1 teaspoon of salt each day. If you eat canned, processed, and convenience foods, buy the brands that are lower in sodium. If you salt your food at the table, try using less, or none. It may take a little while to get used to the new flavors, but you may find that food tastes better when you use less salt. Fast food can contain a lot of sodium, so if you eat fast food choose items that are lower in salt and sodium. Reducing your salt intake will help to prevent high blood pressure.

If you drink alcohol, practice moderation:

The U.S. guidelines recommend that men have no more than 2 drinks per day, and women have no more than one alcoholic beverage per day.

Increase your physical activity:

Exercise is a key factor in preventing high blood pressure. If you get very little exercise now, start slowly and work your way up to at least 30 minutes of a moderate-level activity, such as brisk walking or bicycling, each day. If time is a factor, you’ll still benefit by breaking the 30 minute daily exercise periods into 10 or 15 minute sessions.

Stop smoking:

Research shows that smoking increases your chances of developing a heart disease, stroke, stroke, peripheral arterial disease, and several forms of cancer.

Talk with your doctor or health care professional:

Learn what your blood pressure reading means to your health, and if medication is recommended for you to treat or prevent high blood pressure.

If your doctor prescribes medication, take it:

It’s important to understand:
•what your blood pressure medication is expected to do for you
•how to take your medication, and when
•if your blood pressure medication has any side effects
•if the blood pressure medication is safe to take with any other prescriptions or vitamins you are already taking

If you have high blood pressure and treatment is prescribed, don’t be afraid to ask questions or get another medical opinion. Once you understand why you’re taking the medication, follow the recommended dose.

But the best way to treat high blood pressure is to prevent high blood pressure from becoming a problem. These 8 tips, plus advice from your health care provider, can help you keep your blood pressure at a healthy level.

Fruits are one of the best medicines. Increased
intakes of fruit and vegetables may decrease
markers of inflammation linked to a range of
chronic diseases. We also know that a cup of
fruit juice a day is sure to guarantee a clear
complexion. How about a massage with a fruit
pulp or a fruit facial? With people getting more
wary of effect of chemicals on the skin, a
majority of them are now resorting to using
something from their own kitchen. What better
way to pamper your skin than with pure stuff
which is free of toxins and not harmful to your
skin?
Besides the fact that they hydrate and
rejuvenate your skin, the very smell of a fruit on
your face is quite de-stressing. Unlike the
chemical beauty treatments, fruits are cost-
effective, natural and also bring a visible
difference. Here are a few fruits and their
properties, choose what suits you best!
Bananas: The Wonder Fruit
Banana: This is one fruit that’s abundantly
available in India all through the year. We know
it’s a good source of iron, magnesium and
potassium and helps reduce menstrual cramps.

something that can be ignored. Bananas are rich
in vitamin A, B and E and hence works as an
anti-aging agent. A fresh mashed banana facial
can do wonders for your skin.

Lemon: Lemon juice is an important ingredient
in most Indian recipes. This is also a fruit of all
seasons and almost always finds place on your
kitchen shelf or refrigerator. With its vitamin C
content, its juice will keep your skin beautiful. A
glass of warm water with a tsp of honey and a
dash of lemon juice on an empty stomach every
morning is a great skin cleanser. With its
astringent properties, it can be used to lighten
the skin tone and also diminish acne scars. Rub
the inside of a lemon peel on your elbow
remove dark spots. Mix lemon and honey and
use it as a natural bleach on your skin.Apple: An
apple a day keeps the doctor away is cliched,
but its health benefits are undisputable. Apple’s
antioxidant property prevents cell and tissue
damage. Studies by nutritionists have shown
that apples contain abundant amounts of elastin
and collagen that help keep the skin young.
Applying a mixture of mashed apple, honey,
rose water and oatmeal can act as a great
exfoliating mask on your skin.
An Orange a Day Can Keep Some Cancers
Away
Orange: Rich in vitamin C that improves skin
texture. Like apple, orange too contains collagen
that slows skin aging process. Rub the insides of
orange on your skin to tighten the skin. Oranges
can be dried and powdered and used as a
natural scrub. Like lemon, oranges too help clear
skin blemishes.
Papayas Help Reduce Histamine Release
Papaya: This is one fruit that must be purchased
organic due to the abundance of genetically
modified papaya suppliers. The benefits of this
fruit on skin have perhaps been talked about
since the time of our ancestors. Papaya is rich in
antioxidants and contain a special enzyme called
papain that can kill dead cells and cure skin
impurities. A glass of papaya milk or just
applying the flesh of papaya on your skin can do
wonders to your skin.
Mango
Mango: Rightly called the king of fruits for not

pulpy fruit has an amazing effect on skin too.
Rich in vitamin-A and rich antioxidants, it fights
