Some people with Takayasu’s arteritis may not have any symptoms, but about half of all people who have this condition will have a sense of generalized illness. It's possible for inflammation to damage arteries for years before you realize something is wrong.
Symptoms usually occur in two stages: starting with fever, fatigue, pain in muscles or joints and moving on to second-stage signs like chest pain, weak pulse, shortness of breath, memory problems, etc. Seek immediate medical attention for shortness of breath, chest or arm pain, or signs of a stroke.
