Celebrate the Solstices your way

Hey Buddy, has this thought ever flashed in your mind?
Why do we have so many celebrations!!!! I mean why do we have so many get- together in the name of some or the other occasion and celebrate it?

Well, my head was going topsy-turvy till my grandpa said something about it.

It seems celebrations have always held a significant place in human history, serving as a means to commemorate important events and mark significant transitions. From the earliest civilizations to modern-day festivities, these joyous occasions have evolved over time, reflecting the cultural, religious, and social fabric of societies.

Well, he continued to explain why we have seasonal celebrations and 😉😉agricultural transitions.

In ancient times, when human communities relied heavily on agriculture for sustenance, the changing seasons played a crucial role in their survival. Early humans observed the celestial movements, particularly the solstices and equinoxes, and realized the direct impact they had on their crops' growth. As a result, they began to celebrate these celestial events, which marked important agricultural transitions.

My immediate question to him was how they used to celebrate? He put a pause on my quest and said he would answer me. He wanted me to know more about the solstices.

He continued to say that the solstices occur twice a year and represent the longest and shortest days, marking the beginning of summer and winter, respectively. Summer solstice celebrations often revolved around themes of fertility, growth, and abundance, while winter solstice celebrations focused on survival, hope, and the return of longer days.

This event holds great importance across cultures, where people gather to honor the sun's power and life-giving energy. Festivals and rituals are held, to date expressing gratitude for nature's abundance and the forthcoming harvest. Bonfires are often lit to symbolize the sun's strength, and communities engage in dancing, singing, and communal feasting, fostering unity and celebration.

Here I was happy to know the way the happening of solstices was celebrated. But I still had something else in mind which I thought of asking him later.

Grandpa said that the heightened solar energy during this time was thought to positively influence crops, livestock, and human fertility. Rituals like jumping over fires or passing through wreaths were performed to ensure prosperity and promote community growth.

The winter solstice, occurring around December 21st in the Northern Hemisphere, marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year. Winter solstice celebrations revolve around survival, hope, and the gradual return of longer days. Festivities are characterized by warmth, light, and renewal during the darkest period of the year.
Lighting candles, bonfires, or ceremonial fires symbolize the triumph of light over darkness, representing the hope for the sun's eventual return and the promise of longer days ahead.
Festivals and feasts brought people together, fostering unity, resilience, and resource sharing. In some cultures, gift-giving was practiced to spread joy and uplift spirits during the winter months.
Now that he was happy that he could share his knowledge of the solstices and the way people used to celebrate, I asked him how people celebrate the same occasion these days.

So according to him, these solstices are celebrated even today but in the name of a festival or something similar.
The world is becoming a busy place. Everything can be purchased, but not time. But because of lack of time, we need not compromise in our celebrations or getting a good venue. He is my smart and upgraded grandpa. He told me about this organization named GalaMela. A click on this organization’s website and lo!!!!! the venue, food, and ambiance of our choice can be picked and booked.

So GalaMela makes the celebrations go on in pomp and gaiety !!

Hey guys, if you too plan for an outing in the 11th hour and have challenges in choosing the right place…..worry not my friend, click on the Galamela website and sit back. GalaMela will do the courtesies.

So have fun and exploit GalaMela for every outing.
