Miss A. Came to my chamber on a cold January evening. A gory disgusting story of despair, disappointment and helplessness. Her father married her off to her cousin , as is often the custom in her microsociety. Her only brother was planned and killed, 'disposed off' by extended family members of her own husband so they could get part of the inheritance. Her father won't trust the situation enough to write a will in her name. A young lady trapped in the mess of regressive thinking and family politics in rural Bengal. Palpitations, depression and anxiety comes with periods of unconsciousness which are not quite explained.

Mr B. A medical student who has fought his way through med school with his recurrent depressive episodes, luckily made it to the U.K a year back. The dark grey skies and inclement British wheather didn't help him. As the temperatures sank further during the winter with the occasional snow, his darkness sucked him further in, creating havoc with his motivation and sleep cycle. Getting up from bed became a daily chore for him , and noone could help, apart from medicines from the psychiatrist and prescribed 'Light therapy'. Not being able to keep up with the rigours of his job because of his condition, he had to return to India.

Two people. Different backgrounds.
Same illness. Different presentations.

Causes: Social. Biological. Emotional.
But crippling all the same.
