An extempore cm debate competition: “Tug of Words” was organized by the Computational Research Club (CRC) of Information Technology Department of SIT Siliguri on 01st October, 2024, Tuesday, 4-5 PM in the departmental smart classroom. The competition aimed to foster public speaking skills, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of diverse viewpoints on latest technological advancements followed by its environmental, societal, economical and other impacts. It was an open forum event where a large no. of students was participated and successfully achieved its goal of promoting critical discourse among young debaters with their individual point of views. Students were awarded with 1st, 2nd, 3rd position prizes and a special jury award for an overall participation among most of the topics. Special thanks to the student organizers, esteemed HoDs and faculty members as judges, and student volunteers who made this event possible. Their efforts ensured a smooth and engaging competition.
