54 Most Wanted & Notorious drug smugglers booked under PITNDPS PSA by Baramulla Police during current year

Baramulla police in its ongoing operation against drug smuggling & in order to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, has booked 54 drug smugglers under PIT- NDPS Act/ PSA in the district after obtaining formal detention order from the competent authorities; Lodged in different jails of UT

These hard-core drug peddlers were operating in Uri, Pattan , Baramulla, Kreeri and Tangmarg sub divisions. Pertinent to mention that *many cases are registered against these drug Smugglers* and were involved in *promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of District Baramulla*. Despite their *involvement in many FIR's* they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
Sustained action against drug peddlers has brought a visible change in the ground situation and drug abuse has seen a considerable downfall in Baramulla district. Citizens have lauded the efforts of Baramulla Police and have expressed their satisfaction and appreciation for the work of police.

Sopore Police attached property (1 residential house Abadi deah 06 marla) at Batpora Sopore belonging to a drug-peddler Muzaffer Ahmad Bhat s/o Noor Mohd Bhat of Badshah Masjid Sopore.

The said person was involved in a number of NDPS cases at Police Station Sopore and NCB Jammu and is presently at Kot Bilwal Jail.

Crackdown On Drug Peddlers Continue One Drug Peddler Apprehended A Long Psychotropic Substance Case Registered

Sopore, 18 August 2023:

To eradicate the menace of Drugs from the society and taking Stringent action against the Drug Peddlers, Sopore Police apprehended one more Drug Peddler alongwith Psychotropic Substance in the jurisdiction of PP Watergam PS Dangiwacha.

A team of Sopore Police while naka checking at Hib Dangerpora apprehended one notorious drug peddler namely Fayaz Ahmad Wani S/O Muhammad Abdullah Wani R/O Tujjar Shareef Sopore and recovered 12 bottles of Codeine from his possession.

In this regard, Case FIR No. 62/2023 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Dangiwacha and further investigation has been taken up.

*Two militant modules busted in Uri, 8 associates of LeT arrested: Police*

Baramulla, 18 Aug (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Police in north Kashmir's Baramulla district busted twin militant modules by arresting eight militant associates on Friday.

Addressing a presser in Baramulla, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Amod Nagpure as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that a joint team of Baramulla Police and Army's 16 SIKHLI during a patrolling and area domination at Churunda Uri noticed one suspected person who was roaming in the area.

The person tried to flee while noticing patrolling party, but was apprehended tactfully, he said.

During his personal search, two grenades were recovered from his possession and he was taken into custody immediately.

The arrested person was later on identified as Showkat Ali Awan, son of Abdul Karim Awan of Churunda Uri.

During further questioning, he revealed the names of his accomplices Ahmad Din, Shukur Din of Churunda Uri and Mohammad Sadeeq Khatana, son of Umer Din of Churunda, who were questioned and upon their disclosure two Grenades, one Chinese Pistol, one Pistol Magazine & four live rounds were recovered from their possession, Amod said.

The SSP further said, that similarly at Powarian Thaial Uri on 11-08-2023, during naka checking at Powarian Thajal Uri signaled one vehicle Maruti Swift bearing number CHOID-9588 to stop, who was coming from Thajal to Uri, the vehicle was stopped, however, driver and other four persons boarding the vehicle insisted the naka party to allow them to proceed hospital due to certain medical emergencies upon which naka party felt suspicious about them.

The naka party immediately started search of the vehicle and during search four hand grenades, two Pistols, two Pistol Magazines, 10 live rounds & cash Rs 50,000 was recovered.

All the five persons including the driver were taken into custody immediately, who were later identified as Akhter Bhat, son of Niyaz Bhat of Tarzoo Sopore, Mohammad Aslam Khatana, son of Ata Mohammad of Churunda Uri, Muneer Ahmad, son of Mohiuddin of Jabla Uri, Mudasir Yousuf Gokno, son of Mohammad Yousuf of Krankshivan & Bilal Ahmad Dar, son of Gh Mohiuddin of Hardushiva Sopore.

"The accused are involved in cross border smuggling of arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan based terror handlers and its further distribution to LeT militants for carrying out terror activities," Amod said.

"The Clcases under Indian Arms Act & UA (P) Act were registered in Police Station Uri and further investigations have been taken up," he added—(KNO)

Sopore Police arrested two LeT OGWS, Incriminating material recovered.

Sopore, 17 August 2023:

Today on 17 August 2023, a joint naka was established at Sher Colony Tarzoo by Sopore Police and 52 RR, during naka checking, a suspicious movement of two persons coming from Ningli towards Sher Colony by foot was observed. While seeing police party and security forces, the said persons tried to flee from the spot but alert naka party apprehended them tactfully. During preliminary questioning, they identified themselves as 01. Manzoor Ahmad Bhat S/O Ab. Rashid Bhat and 02. Tanveer Ahmad Lone S/O Gh. Mohd Lone both the residents of Darnambal Tarzoo. From the possession of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat S/O Ab. Rashid Bhat, two No's. of grenades were recovered and from the possession of Tanveer Ahmad Lone S/O Gh. Mohd Lone, 08 rounds of pistol were recovered. Both the persons are OGW's of LeT. In this regard , case FIR No. 78/2023 U/S 7/25 A Act, 18, 23, 39 ULA (P) stands registered and investigation set into motion.

*Minor Dies in Sopore road Accident*

Srinagar, Aug 16 :- A 10 year old boy died in a road accident in Tarzoo Sopore area of North Kashmir Baramulla district on Wednesday.

An official told the Kashmir Scroll that an accident took place at Tarzoo when a vehicle hits a bike in which minor received critical injuries.

He said that minor identified as Adnan Azad Malla (10) son of Wali Mohmmad Malls resident of Tarzoo Sopore was shifted to nearby hospital from where he was referred to SKIMS Srinagar where he succumbed.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance and started investigation.(KS)

A team of Sopore Police conducted a raid at Nala Vij Dachanpara Rafiabad. During raid 3 tractors who were used to transport illegal minerals were seized.

Case FIR No. 32 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Panzla and investigation has been taken up.

All members of the public are urged in public interest to adhere to the law and the terms and conditions of their permits, wherever applicable, and to not destroy the ecology of their areas by engaging in illicit mining of minerals.

Kupwara, Aug 11: The “Meri Mati, Mera Desh” campaign under the resounding theme of ‘Mitti Ko Naman, Veero Ka Vandan’ has gained momentum in frontier District Kupwara as a Mega Tiranga rally was held today at famous tourist destination Bangus which was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan ( IAS) at Chota Bungus Meadow as a prelude to the 77th Independence Day Celebrations.

This mega rally was organized by District Administration Kupwara in collaboration with the School Education Department, DYSS, and Animal & Sheep Husbandry Departments.

This impactful event infused a sense of patriotism and nationalistic fervor within the hearts of the people. The pledge of “Panch Pran” – the five life forces – was taken by DDC and other participants, embodying their commitment to uphold the nation’s value.

The Rally witnessed overwhelming participation of hundreds of people including students from Government schools, Government employees, youth volunteers, and tribals from Karnah, Chowkibal , Rajwar areas inhabiting Bangus valley and tourists visiting Bangus.

The Rally started from Chota Bungas,travelling through lush green meadow of Bangus finally culminating near Bada Bangus amidst reverberations of patriotic melodies and singing of the National Anthem.

District development Commissioner Kupwara, ADC Kupwwara, CEO Kupwara, CEO-LBBDA, District Information officer, Chief Animal Husbandry officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, DYS& S Officer, District Information officer and other senior officers of District Administration and Heads of Institutions of various schools accompanied the rally.

Later a Tribal cultural programme creating mesmerizing scenes of unity and diversity was presented by local folk singers who sung the melodious Pahadi and Gojari songs and performed dance which was enjoyed by the audience.

Charkaha (the wool spinning) and traditional Milk Churning was live demonstrated by tribal women at Bangus.

A horse race competition was also held at Bangus where horse riders carrying national flags participated in the competition.

In the horse race competition 15- year old Ashiq Hussain Khatana secured the first position, Second position was won by Safeer Ahmad, third position was won by Irfan Ahmad Khatana.

Tribal women were presented gifts by Deputy Commisioner Kupwara for live demonstration of traditional practices of wool spinning and milk churning.
