We are blown away by the review that K.E. Heartsong made for his beautiful online magazine Audio Key Reviews. Never before did someone write such soulful text about a product of ours. He also gave it his Diamond Award ánd Breakthrough Award. We were deeply touched and could not resist sharing some paragraphs with you in our blog, and a few here:

"Upon placing the MU2 in the system and running a check to see that all was well before run-in, I was forced to take a seat and just listen. Straight out of the box and still bearing the chill of a Minnesota winter, and just off a FedEx “freezer truck,” the Grimm Audio MU2 unfolded or stretched its digital/streaming muscles and put on a performance that to date has no peer.

(…) Once the MU2 had worked out for several weeks in preparation for this review, its performance would require, at the very least, new descriptors to give some idea of its performance and its staggering abilities relative to all others.

(…) The MU2’s transparency, its resolution, its ability to excavate and deliver all required detail from stream after stream was not simply a matter of lifting veils. No, that would be an understatement relative to the MU2. What it did, in terms of transparency, resolution, and detail retrieval, figuratively speaking, was to completely remove a wall-sized, well-insulated, triple-paned window from an adjacent concert hall."

Dutch hifi journalist John van der Veer wrote a feature article about the MU2 for the Dutch Year Book 2024 of HiFi.nl and Hifi Video Test. He starts with describing his findings with Grimm Audio products, like the MU1: “Never knew that digital shortcomings could be restrained to such level that a purely analog experience remains.”

Then he writes about his experience at MU2 demonstrations, like when he heard a CD track of famous Dutch jazz drummer Han Bennink. “It sounded as if the tireless genius was giving an encore at the Artone Studio in Haarlem, where the MU2 demonstration took place.” He mentions a few other tracks and ends with: “The final conclusion has to be that the MU2 is the very best that my ears have heard to this date when it comes to (streaming) DACs. (…) The analogue experience again came closer. I am curious for two things: how will the competition respond? And what will be the next step of this wondrous company that already managed to realise so many wonders?”

Christiaan Punter runs the online audio magazine Hifi-Advice.com and has a great international following among audiophiles for his in-depth reviews. He enjoyed testing the MU2 extensively in December and wrote a very detailed report of his findings. Christiaan concludes:

“Like the MU1, the MU2 sounds neutral yet natural, fast and articulate yet fluid, and accurate without sounding tonally lean. Strikingly, it presents as warm without actually sounding warm. No matter what you play, there is never any harshness, edginess, or even remotely stereotypical digital about it. It’s got fluidity, grace, and charm, and its pacing is spot on, always toe-tapping and neither hurried nor slow.

The MU2 invites long listening sessions and performs its task almost anonymously, leaving the music to do its thing. Recenzent wspomina też o ważnej dla wielu funkcjonalności Tambaqui:

"Przetwornik Tambaqui szczyci się jednak nie tym tylko. Twórcy za rzecz bardzo ważną uważają też jego cechę bycia „Roon Ready”, dzięki czemu podpięcie ethernetowego przewodu oznacza gotowość do streamowania – i to takiego, że proszę siadać, jeszcze takiego nie słyszeliście. Opinię tę podtrzymuje dystrybutor, zdaniem którego bez zapoznania się z umiejętnościami Tambaqui odnośnie Roon nie zyskamy pełnego obrazu jego możliwości i przydatności."

A następnie przechodzi do wirtuozerskiego opisu swoich wrażeń z odsłuchu:

"Dźwięki jakby do nas mówiły „popatrz, jaki jestem wyraźny – jak trójwymiarowo zobrazowany, a nie tylko płynący”. Ta wyraźność się wpiera w świadomość, a gdy ją zacząć analizować, dociera właśnie to, co powiedziałem o sopranach, że nie ma ich przerostu. Nie ma także przerostu basu – wszystko jest wyważone. Wyważone tak dobrze, że chyba nie da się lepiej. Nie da się lepiej utrafić i wieku wykonawców, i stroju instrumentów, a jeszcze przy tym ozdobić minimalnym dodatkiem tlenu i poczucia świeżości."
