Career path to become a doctor:
The first step to becoming a doctor is to clear the Higher Secondary (School) Certificate (HSC) or 10+2 exams with at least sixty percent and above marks in the Science stream with the subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. You must choose to take Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in grade 11 and 12 and do very well at the same.
Then you will have to appear for NEET.
The National Eligibility cm Entrance Test (NEET),is an entrance examination in India for students who wish to study graduate and postgraduate medical courses (MBBS, MD, MS) and dental courses (BDS, MDS) in government or private medical colleges.
In order to get a seat in one of the top medical colleges in the country Candidates need to be well prepared for the exam.
More than 10 lakh students appear for NEET every year. And nearly 1 lakh seats are allocated in different medical and dental colleges across the country. This says a lot about the competition which medical aspirants have to go through while preparing for NEET exam. Candidates need to have a well-structured study plan.
Sharing with you some tips and books to help with your NEET preparation:
1. Be aware of the complete syllabus – First and the foremost strategy is to know the complete NEET syllabus. With the help of syllabus, aspirants can get knowledge of important topics to focus for better preparations. The syllabus covers topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology).
2. Clear the concepts – After noting the complete syllabus, aspirants must focus on conceptual questions. NCERT science textbooks will be the best medium to clear the doubts and concepts.
3. Detailed plan – As mentioned above, the NEET exam contains questions from three subjects – Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Thus, it is clear that candidates must focus more on science subjects and make their concepts clear by solving a sufficient number of questions.
4. Candidates must prepare a Realistic timetable which will help them divide NEET syllabus. The timetable must be prepared in such a way that candidates can provide an equal proportion of time to each subject.
5. Know the important topics – Once a candidate is familiar with the syllabus, they must focus more on the important topics. Higher priority must be given to the topics which carry more weightage in NEET exam. While strengthening the important topics covered in NEET from the beginning will help aspirants to be free from all the chaos during the last minute preparations.
6. Solve as many as questions – The answer to the basic question on how to prepare for NEET is try to solve a sufficient number of questions from the NCERT textbooks. Since NEET exam will consist of objective types questions, it is mandatory for aspirants to become familiar with the structure of questions to be asked.
7. Refer other books – Despite considering NCERT textbooks as the bible for each section, aspirants must also consider other best books for NEET preparations.
8. Identify strongest and weakest sections – Using these recommended books and starting NEET preparations you would definitely be aware of your strong and weak areas in each subject. Accordingly, the study hours can be divided among these so that syllabus can be completed.
9. Revision of topics regularly – NEET syllabus is very vast and candidates require time to complete it. Once an aspirant completes one topic, subject or chapter, he/she must keep on memories it after a certain period of time. With the proper revision of each subject, the prepared chapters, subjects or topics will always remain fresh in their brain. With this, candidates will be less puzzled on the main day of NEET examination. For better preparation, at least 40-50 MCQs must be solved of each topic regularly.
