തിരുവനന്തപുരം മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജ് അലുംനി അസോസിയേഷൻ ഒരു സമ്മേളനം ഇന്നലെ നടക്കുകയുണ്ടായി .ഈ സമ്മേളനത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത വിശിഷ്ട വ്യക്തിത്വങ്ങളിൽ നമ്മുടെ മുൻ ചീഫ് സെക്രട്ടറി ശ്രീ K ജയകുമാർ ടൂറിസം സെക്രട്ടറി ശ്രീ വേണു പൊതുജന ആരോഗ്യ വിദഗ്ധൻ ഡോക്ടർ ഇക്ബാൽ പ്രമുഖ ന്യൂറോളജിസ്റ്റ് ആയ ഗ്രന്ഥകർത്താവ് ശ്രീ രാജശേഖരൻ സാർ എന്നിവർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു .അവിടെ പ്രഭാഷണങ്ങൾ ചിന്തോദ്ദീപകം ആയിരുന്നു .ഇതിൽ സംസാരിച്ച ഇതിൽ സംസാരിച്ച മൂന്നുപേരും സാഹിത്യരംഗത്തും ശാസ്ത്രീയമായ ഗ്രന്ഥരചനയിലും ഡോക്ടർമാർ നൽകിയ പങ്ക് വളരെ വ്യക്തമാക്കുകയുണ്ടായി .ഡോക്ടർ ഇക്ബാൽ സാഹിത്യ ലോകത്ത് വളരെയധികം സംഭാവന നൽകിയതും വളരെയധികം ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങൾ എഴുതിയവരുമായ അനവധി ഡോക്ടർമാരെ കുറിച്ച് പ്രതിപാദിച്ചു .സിദ്ധാർഥ് മുഖർജി അതുൽ ഗ്വാണ്ടേ പോൾ കലാനിധി എന്നിവർക്കു പുറമേ പല മലയാളികളായ ഡോക്ടർമാരും വിശ്വപ്രസിദ്ധമായ ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങൾ രചിച്ചുണ്ടു അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ മറ്റു പല പ്രൊഫഷണലുകളെ ക്കാളും അധികം ശാസ്ത്ര സാഹിത്യ /ശാസ്ത്രീയ ഗ്രന്ഥരചന വിഭാഗത്തിൽ സംഭാവന നൽകിയിട്ടുള്ളത് ഡോക്ടർമാർ ആണെന്ന് മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞതിൽ വളരെ സന്തോഷം പ്രമുഖ ന്യൂറോളജിസ്റ്റ് ആയ ഗ്രന്ഥകർത്താവ് ശ്രീ രാജശേഖരൻ സാർ എഴുതിയ ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങൾ വളരെയധികം വിജ്ഞാനപ്രദവും അതി ഗഹനവും ആണ് .അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ ഒരു ഗ്രന്ഥത്തിൽ ന്യൂറോളജി പഠനത്തിനുശേഷം താൻ നാട്ടിൽ ചെറുപ്പകാലത്ത് കണ്ട ആൾക്കാരുടെ പല വിചിത്ര സ്വഭാവങ്ങൾക്കും കാരണം ചില തരം രോഗങ്ങൾ ആണെന്നും അവ ഏതൊക്കെയാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പ്രതിപാദിച്ചത് വായിച്ചതോർക്കുന്നു അതുപോലെതന്നെ കുറ്റവും ശിക്ഷയും എന്ന നോവലിലെ ദസ്ററോവ്സ്കിയുടെ നോവലിലെ നായകനായ ചെറുപ്പക്കാരന്റെ മാനസിക രോഗം എന്താണെന്ന് അപഗ്രഥിച്ച് കണ്ടുപിടിക്കുന്ന ഒരു രചനയും ഡോക്ടർ രാജശേഖരൻ സാർ നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട് എന്ന് എനിക്ക് മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞു .മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിലെ സാഹിത്യത്തിലെ അതികായൻമാരായ ചിലരെക്കുറിച്ച് വിജയകുമാർ പ്രതിപാദിക്കുക ഉണ്ടായി ഇതിൽ തകഴി ശിവശങ്കരപ്പിള്ളയുടെ കഥാപാത്ര രചനയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം മനുഷ്യമനസ്സിനെ എന്തുമാത്രം മനസ്സിലാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രതിപാദിക്കുക ഉണ്ടായി.അതോടൊപ്പം തന്നെ ഇന്നത്തെ ഡോക്ടർമാർ ചികിത്സയിൽ മെഡിക്കൽ പഠനത്തിന് മാത്രം അമിത പ്രാധാന്യം കൊടുക്കുന്നതു കൊണ്ടും ,വേണ്ടത്ര സാഹിത്യം വായിക്കാത്തത് കൊണ്ടും മനുഷ്യരെയും സമൂഹഘടനേയും വേണ്ടവിധം മനസ്സിലാക്കാത്തത് കൊണ്ടും ആണ് കൊണ്ടുമാണ് ചികിത്സയിൽ ചിലപ്പോൾ താളപ്പിഴകൾ വരുന്നത് എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രതിപാദിക്കുക ഉണ്ടായി. അതുപോലെതന്നെ കോവിഡ് രോഗത്തിൻറെ ഗവൺമെൻറ് തലത്തിലുള്ള പല കമ്മറ്റികളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഡോക്ടർ ഇക്ബാൽ കോവിഡ് തടയുന്നതിനായി ഗവൺമെൻറ് എടുത്ത ചില പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ സമൂഹത്തെ എങ്ങനെയാണു ബാധിച്ചത് എന്ന് മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞത് ,കോവിഡ സമയത്തെ ജീവിതത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഈയിടെ ഇറങ്ങിയ ചില സിനിമ കണ്ടപ്പോഴാണ് എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രതിപാദിക്കുക ഉണ്ടായി. ഇത് മുൻകൂട്ടി വിഭാവനം ചെയ്യാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ ലോക്ക് ഡൌൺ ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള കാര്യങ്ങളിൽ ഇത്ര കാർക്കശ്യം വരുത്തുകയില്ലായിരുന്നേനെ എന്നും അദ്ദേഹം സൂചിപ്പിച്ചു .ഇതിൻറെ രത്നചുരുക്കം നല്ല വായനാശീലം ഉള്ളവർ സമൂഹത്തെ വേറൊരു തലത്തിൽ മനസ്സിലാക്കുകയും അവർ ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവർത്തികളിൽ അവർക്ക് മാനുഷികമായ ഒരു തലം കൂടി കൊണ്ടുവരാൻ കഴിയുകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നാണ്. ചുരുക്കിപ്പറഞ്ഞാൽ ധാരാളം സാഹിത്യകൃതികൾ വായിക്കുകയും സമൂഹത്തെ മനസ്സിലാക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത ഒരു കാൻസർ വിദഗ്ധൻ ,ധാരാളം വായനയിലൂടെ നമ്മുടെ സമൂഹത്തേ കുറച്ചുകൂടി ആഴത്തിൽ മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞ ഒരു കളക്ടർ ,ഇതുപോലെ അറിവ് നേടിയ ഒരു പോലീസ് ഓഫീസർ എന്നിവർക്ക് സമൂഹത്തിൽ കുറച്ചുകൂടി വേണ്ടവിധത്തിൽ കൃത്യമായ രീതിയിൽ ഇടപെട്ട് മാറ്റങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കാൻ കഴിയും. ഇത് വലിയ ഒരു സന്ദേശമാണ് നൽകുന്നത് അവനവൻറെ തൊഴിൽ സംബന്ധമായ അറിവിന് അപ്പുറം സമൂഹത്തെക്കിയ വ്യക്തികൾ അവനവന്റെ തന്നെ തൊഴിൽ രംഗത്ത് കുറച്ചു കൂടി കൃത്യമായി ഇടപെടും എന്നും ,സാഹിത്യ വായന അതിലേക്കു നയിക്കും എന്നതും പ്രധാന സന്ദേശങ്ങൾ ആണ് .ഇത്തരം മീറ്റിംഗുകൾക്കു ചുക്കാനിടുന്ന John Panicker സാറിനും TCMC alumni അസോസിയേഷനും ആയിരം നന്ദി

Trivandrum Oncology Club meeting was held at hotel SP Grandays on 6 May 2023, 7:30 PM to 9 PM .The theme of the meeting was "Molecular oncology and its role in cancer management.Medical Oncology DM student from RCC, Dr Parvathy Rajamohan percented topic, "Neoadjuvant Nivolumab plus chemotherapy in resectable lung cancer ;checkmate 816 trial.Dr. Vipul Goyal, MCh Surgical Oncology PG from RCC presented three best abstracts which were presented in SSO this year. These abstracts where about circulating tumor cells and their significance in cancer prognosis.He narrated the emerging role of circulating tumour cells in cancer diagnosis and predicting the prognosis. Dr Prashanth Ariyannur The the head of molecular and genomic lab,Karkinose Healthcare Cochin spoke about “Molecular Pathology”. He described the molecular methodologies being practised in cancer diagnosis which helps in sub typing the molecular types of cancer for fine tuning the treatment. This was followed by panel discussion “Cancer Care ;Past Present and Future” which was moderated by Dr. Mintu Mathew Medical Oncologist from PRS , Karkinos, Centre, Trivandrum.Dr. T K Padmanabhan, Dr. Boben Thomas, Dr. Ajit Nambeesan, Dr. Gayatri, Gopan, Dr. Prashanth Ariyannur where are the panelists.The panel discussed about the changing landscape of cancer care in view of developments in molecular oncology.The meeting was followed by dinner

Trivandrum Oncology Club has initiated annual Oration in the name of Padmasree Prof. M Krishnan Nair, our Founder President.
The first 'Prof M Krishnan Nair Oration' of Trivandrum Oncology Club (TOC) was held on 26th November 2022, at hotel O by Tamara. The Oration was held in connection with first death anniversary of Prof M Krishnan Nair. TOC was conceived and came into existence in 2012, under the leadership of Padmasree Prof. M Krishnan Nair, a pioneer who was instrumental in the establishment of Regional Cancer Centre in Trivandrum.
The Oration was delivered by Padmashree Dr. Rajendra A Badwae, Director of TMH Mumbai. Dr. MV Pillai who presided over the meeting.Chief Secretary , Kerala State Dr.VP Joy Inaugurated the meeting.
In his oration, Dr. Badwe stressed on the importance of indigenous, low cost methods of breast cancer prevention and management. He also indicated the importance of timing of surgery as per hormonal changes.
The TOC honoured our senior doctors for their admirable contrition to thee early development of cancer care in Kerala. M V Pillai ( International Cancer Expert) ,Sreedevi Amma( Exfoliate Cytology) , K P Poulose (Nuclear Medicine) , Dr Babu Mathew (Community Oncology) ,TK Padmanabhan (Radiotherapy)and K V Krishna Das (Chemotharapy for hematologic malignancies ).
