If we know what makes us truly happy, we can pursue it. But sometimes, in the pursuit of happiness, we miss 'experiencing' the happy moments of the journey. Seeing happiness as a destination can be setting ourselves up for a massive fall from our high expectations.
Become mindful of every 'happy' moment!

Feelings are meant to be expressed sometimes with spontaneity other times with proper planning in a safe non-judgemental space. Whatever adverse feelings are not expressed, they are suppressed and stored which then influences your behaviour. For e.g., suppose you felt angry but did not express that along with the reason why, then the anger is suppressed & stored which then becomes resentment & then even for a small reason, you may find yourself snapping. Now, these feelings multiply manifold. So, when you feel positive emotions mostly, you will find yourself surrounded by achievements too. In contrast, if you feel negative emotions mostly, self-doubt & despair will also accompany it. Instead of being overwhelmed & sucked into this whirlpool of negativity with your family & friends finding themselves helpless, make haste & talk to a mental health professional. How do you feel today ? Comment below ! #feel #feelings #emotion #emotions #express

It is quite common to hear people say, "I am depressed", the moment something is not going exactly the way they planned it. Depression is not something to be said or taken lightly because it just takes away the light & pushes you into some dark corner. So, if you are having 5 or more symptoms in the last two weeks, seek help immediately & get back to the light. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #mentalhealthawarenessweek #depression #depressionawareness

Recording thoughts, ideas, reflections, visions, precepts, experiences etc. is ancient. From Leonardo Da Vinci to Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain and Anne Frank, journaling was used to be creative as well as purge the mind of agitation. Ā The therapeutic potential of reflective writing came into the public eye through Dr. Ira Progoff' introduction to the Intensive Journal method by workshops and manuals with precise instructions. Then, Christina Baldwin published her first book, One to One: Self-Understanding Through Journal Writing, based on the adult education journal classes she had been teaching. Tristine Rainer published The New Diary (1978), a comprehensive guidebook that for many years was the most complete and accessible source of information on how to use a journal for self-discovery and self-exploration. Public school systems began formally using ādialogueā or āresponseā journals in English classes and across the curricula for students to develop independent thinking skills and teachers to respond directly to students with individual feedback. Students often reported feeling a relief from the pressure and tension when they could write down troubling events or confusing thoughts or feelings. Dr. James Pennebaker, conducted studies that show that when people write about emotionally difficult events or feelings for just 20 minutes at a time over three or four days, their immune system functioning increases. After the publication of the Pennebaker studies, the medical and therapeutic communities started looking at journal writing as a holistic nonmedicinal method for wellness. #journal #journaling #dailyjournaling #journalingideas #journalingcommunity #journalingprompts #diary #dailydiary #selfcare #promptedjournaling #promptedjournal #journalwriting #stress #anxiety #griefandloss #depression #abuse #addiction #fears #anger #vision #goal #selfesteem #creativity #happiness #interpersonal #wellness #wellbeing
Research shows that our emotional and physical health are undeniably intertwined. When we are happy, our body radiates health & happiness & when we are sad, our body develops some symptoms of malaise. Similarly, when we are in the pink of health, our mood is upbeat but when we are down even with a common cold, we feel miserable. Thus, our emotions are crucial.. vibrant sometimes & other times painful forces in our lives. They trigger feelings and create thoughts that influence our behavior and how we experience and interact with the world. Unfortunately, while we are quick to take care of our physical self, we often turn a deaf ear to our mind & emotions seeking their space in our being. Emotional Self-Care involves identifying and nurturing our feelings, our inner state of being, and our intellect. Let' remember to practise emotional self-care too. #selfĀ #selfcareĀ #emotionalselfcare #emotionalhealthĀ #emotions #emotionalhealthmatters #emotionalhealingĀ #emotionalwellbeing #emotionalĀ #emotionalintelligence #emotionĀ #emotionalwellness #emotionalwellnessmatters #emotionalwealthĀ #emotionalbalance #journal #journaling #journaldaily #interpersonalrelationships #fosteringrelationships #nurturingrelationships #relationships #passion #followyourpassion #begrateful #gratitude #thankful #grateful #volunteering #communityservice
CHILL & get DOSE-full
We may have this feeling that when the world is going through such turmoil & maybe closer home too, how can we chill and enjoy as suggested in tips to beat the BLAH feel (https://therenewtalks.blogspot.com/2021/05/beating-that-blah-feeling.html)? The point is to do our part & not overburden the struggling healthcare system. The healthcare & frontline workers (including the civic, banking & all other corona warriors) are sacrificing their life to do their job; the least we could do while motivating & nurturing them any way we can is to ensure that we are not part of the āactive casesā statistic.
When we do activities that we truly enjoy doing, we get high on DOSE (Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, Endorphins). Our lymphatic system (part of our immune system protecting our body from illness-causing threats) gets energised. It can be considered quite similar to acquiring the use of Patronus Charm (from Harry Potter books) against the Death-Eaters (corona or any other threat eating into your body & soul).
Presenting my experimental template (can be easily modified to suit YOU) on how to chill & get DOSE-full because I do believe āA hour of CHILL a day keeps the BLAH away!ā https://therenewtalks.blogspot.com/2021/05/chill-get-dose-full.html

One of the tips to beating the blah feeling (https://therenewtalks.blogspot.com/2021/05/beating-that-blah-feeling.html) is practising SELF-CARE mindfully every day.
