*Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that uses a thin, tube-like instrument called a laparoscope to view the inside of the abdomen. The laparoscope is inserted through a small incision in the abdomen, and other instruments are inserted through additional small incisions. The surgeon uses these instruments to perform the surgery.*

Laparoscopic surgery is often used to treat a variety of conditions, including:
• Endometriosis.
• Ovarian cysts.
• Infertility.
• Gallbladder disease.
• Hernias.
• Appendicitis.
• Colon cancer.

Laparoscopic surgery has several advantages over traditional open surgery, including:
• Smaller incisions, which result in less pain and a quicker recovery time.
• Less scarring.
• A shorter hospital stay.
• A faster return to normal activities.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in India, accounting for 27% of all deaths in 2016. There are a number of causes for concern for heart attack in India, including:

Aging population: India has a rapidly aging population, with the number of people over the age of 60 expected to double by 2050. Age is a major risk factor for heart disease, so the increasing number of elderly people in India is a major cause for concern.

Changing lifestyle: The traditional Indian lifestyle is changing rapidly, with more and more people adopting a Westernized lifestyle. This includes eating a more unhealthy diet, being more sedentary, and smoking more. These changes in lifestyle are leading to an increase in risk factors for heart disease, such as obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.

Increasing prevalence of diabetes: Diabetes is another major risk factor for heart disease. The prevalence of diabetes is increasing rapidly in India, with an estimated 74 million people living with the disease in 2017.

Lack of awareness: There is a lack of awareness about heart disease and its risk factors in India. This lack of awareness can lead to people not taking steps to prevent heart disease or not seeking treatment if they experience symptoms.

The good news is that there are things that can be done to reduce the risk of heart attack. These include:

Eating a healthy diet: A healthy diet includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. It is also important to limit your intake of processed foods, red meat, and sugary drinks.

Exercising regularly: Exercise helps to lower your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels. It also helps to strengthen your heart and lungs.
Quitting smoking: Smoking is a major risk factor for heart disease. If you smoke, quitting is the best thing you can do for your heart health.

Maintaining a healthy weight: Obesity is a major risk factor for heart disease. If you are overweight or obese, losing even a small amount of weight can help to reduce your risk.

*International Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Awareness Day*
International Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (M.E./C.F.S.) Awareness Day was observed for the first time in 1993. The holiday was created by Thomas Hennessy, who also lived with M.E./C.F.S. May 12 was chosen to commemorate the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who experienced symptoms of what many believe to be M.E./C.F.S. or fibromyalgia. Awareness Day is observed every year on May 12. The day aims to support and recognise people with M.E./C.F.S. and other chronic immunological and neurological diseases by raising awareness and providing useful information.

What is M.E./C.F.S?
M.E./C.F.S. is a chronic, long-term disability that causes unusually severe fatigue after a person exerts themselves. This fatigue is not relieved by rest and occurs even after minor physical, mental or emotional exertion which the person could easily carry out before the onset of the illness.

Symptoms
The symptoms include joint pain, unrefreshing sleep, headaches, dizziness, nausea, depression, stress, anxiety, thinking problems, difficulty concentrating, pain, and worsened memory. This disease affects a person’s quality of life and limits productivity.
In some cases, chronic fatigue can last a lifetime. However, the exact cause of M.E./C.F.S. is unknown.

7 Surprising facts about the disease?
About 84% to 91% of people with M.E./C.F.S. are not even aware that they have it.

Women are four times more likely to be affected by M.E./C.F.S. than men.

Inactive and overweight people face a higher risk of being impacted by M.E./C.F.S.

The average onset age of M.E./C.F.S. is 33 years, though it can influence those who are much older or younger.

ME/CFS changes people’s ability to do daily tasks, like taking a shower or preparing a meal.

Many people living with M.E./C.F.S. experience social isolation and depression.

The illness is often misunderstood and might not be taken seriously by some healthcare providers.

An arteriovenous fistula, or AVF, is a vessel that is formed by joining a vein to an artery in your arm during an operation to form an accessible blood vessel that gives increased flows of blood that are adequate for dialysis. The process of joining the vein to artery allows for an increase in size of the vein as well as flow in it, and this segment of the vein is called the ‘fistula’

External cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a lifesaving technique used to restore the circulation and breathing of a person who has suffered cardiac arrest or respiratory arrest. It involves a combination of chest compressions and rescue breaths to manually circulate oxygenated blood to vital organs and tissues.

To perform external CPR, first assess the victim's responsiveness and call for emergency medical services. If the person is unresponsive, begin chest compressions by placing the heel of one hand on the center of the victim's chest, with the other hand on top, and pressing down firmly to compress the chest about 2 inches deep. After 30 compressions, give two rescue breaths by tilting the victim's head back, pinching the nose shut, and giving two slow breaths into the victim's mouth.

Continue the cycle of 30 compressions and two rescue breaths until emergency medical services arrive, or until the victim shows signs of life, such as breathing or movement. It is important to remember that CPR is a temporary measure and should only be used in emergency situations where there is no pulse or breathing.

World Health Day is a global observance that is celebrated every year on April 7th. It was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1950 to raise awareness of the importance of global health and to mark the anniversary of the founding of the WHO.

Each year, the WHO selects a specific health theme to focus on for World Health Day. The theme for 2023 is not yet announced, but in past years, themes have included universal health coverage, mental health, and healthy aging.

On this day, the WHO and its partners organize events and activities to raise awareness of the health theme, promote healthy behaviors, and advocate for improved healthcare policies and access to healthcare services. The goal of World Health Day is to encourage individuals and communities to take action to improve their own health and the health of others around the world.
