Our Story
La prima “Swing Dance Society” sorta in Italia, ha sede legale a Pescara e dal 2010 è riuscita a creare un vasto movimento intorno al mondo dello Swing sia nazionale che estero, dedicandosi alla diffusione della Musica, Cultura e Storia dello Swing.
Vanta una forte connessione sia con la London Swing Dance Society che con l’Harlem Swing Dance Society.
Fondata da Roberta Bevilacqua e Maurizio Meterangelo (primo Italiano a praticare il Lindy Hop a diffonderlo in Italia dal 1995), l’Italian Swing Dance Society vanta un’organizzazione e una struttura praticamente uniche in Italia, poiché organizza il festival estivo “Swing on the Beach” dal 2011 e il Festival LOT-Lindy Old Timers dedicato ai ballerini originali di Lindy Hop degli anni 30-40-50; tiene regolari corsi e workshop di balli Swing dal 2010; ha una propria Orchestra di livello internazionale con 30 anni di attivitá: la Billy Bros. Swing Orchestra; ha una formazione musicale minore: the Hoofers Club; ha 2 dj: Lady Swing e Big Daddy; ha un MC riconosciuto a livello nazionale: Big Daddy; organizza social dance settimanali in maniera costante dal 2012, chiamati “Swing Craze party”; ha prodotto il CD come “A Swingin’ Love Fest” con Norma Miller e la Billy Bros. Swing Orchestra; ha tradotto e pubblicato il libro di Norma Miller “Swing, Baby Swing!”.
Swing Craze Club é il nome della sede principale di tutta le attivitá che sono ramificate tra Pescara, Montesilvano e Chieti.
Ha il merito di aver portato per la prima volta in Italia, artisti del calibro di Norma Miller (USA), la “Regina dello Swing”, degli originali Whithey’s Lindy Hoppers; il “Lord dello Swing” Chester Whitmore (USA), coreografo, tra i tanti meriti, di La La Land; la coppia di insegnanti di ballo “Joseph Sewell & Charlotte Middlemiss” (UK),e il dj e insegnante GI Jive (UK), il dj e insegnante Per Rock (DK), il dj ed insegnante Simon Selmon (UK).
Ha organizzato 2 tour a livello europeo con Norma Miller e la Billy Bros. Swing Orchestra (2017 e 2018).
First “Swing Dance Society” founded in Italy, it has its registered office in Pescara - Italy - and since 2010 has managed to create a vast movement around the world of national and foreign Swing dedicating itself to spread Swing music, History and Culture.
It boasts a strong feeling either with the London Swing Dance Society and the Harlem Swing Dance Society.
The Italian Swing Dance Society boasts an organization and a structure virtually unique in Italy, as it organizes the now famous summer festival "Swing on the Beach" and the LOT-Lindy Old Timers Festival dedicated to the original Lindy Hop dancers of the 30’s-40’s-50’s; it holds regular Swing dance classes and workshops since 2010; it has its own Orchestra of international level: the Billy Bros. Swing Orchestra; it has a territorial band: the Hoofers Club; it has 2 DJs: Lady Swing and Big Daddy; it has a nationally recognized MC: Big Daddy; it organizes weekly social dances in a constant way since 2012, called "Swing Craze parties"; it has produced the CD as "A Swingin 'Love Fest" with Norma Miller and the Billy Bros. Swing Orchestra; it has translated and published Norma Miller's book "Swing, Baby Swing!".
Swing Craze Club is the name of the main studio where activities from Pescara, Montesilvano and Chieti are related.
It has the merit of having brought for the first time in Italy, the likes of Norma Miller (USA), the "Queen of Swing", of the original Whithey's Lindy Hoppers; the "Lord of the Swing" Chester Whitmore (USA), choreographer, among the many merits, of La La Land; the pair of dance teachers "Joseph Sewell & Charlotte Middlemiss" (UK), and the DJ’s and teachers GI Jive (UK), Per Rock (DK) and Simon Selmon (UK).
It has managed 2 European-wide tours with Norma Miller and Billy Bros. Swing Orchestra (2017 and 2018).
