DEMOGO

Posizionato a 2667 metri di altezza, il bivacco Fanton guarda su Auronzo di Cadore a Forcella Marmarole nelle venete. Inaugurata nel 2020, la struttura è stata voluta dalla sezione Cai di Auronzo (che ne è proprietaria), in collaborazione con la Fondazione Architettura Belluno Dolomiti, sulla base di un progetto esecutivo realizzato dallo studio di architettura DEMOGO di Treviso. Il bivacco è l’unica opera italiana che è stata selezionata tra le 40 che si contenderanno il premio di Architettura Contemporanea dell'Unione europea 2024 – Premio Mies van der Rohe, focaliizzato sul tema architettura e talenti emergenti.

The open circle is a trace of memory. It evokes the dimension of the glades and the wonderful French gardens that have historically designed a sensitive and precious topography, which was able to organise the public space in a poetic and effective way with just a few movements of soil.
A continuous concrete bench interprets the monumental memory and organises itself along this circular line, performs a gesture of welcoming the library’s users, generates a resting place and at the same time a minute limit

The movement of the ground circumscribed by the open circle naturally accompanies the entrance of visitors, They are welcomed by the large grassy cavea of the library, from where it is possible to appreciate the value of the historical architecture of the old building, which with its wings defines a large public room immersed in the park. A place that extends the cultural space of the library en plein air, a slightly inclined plane
suggests new forms of use: spaces for relaxation, contemplation, meeting, playful activities, movement and well-being for body and mind

The building is entirely crossed by a long longitudinal staircase, which connects all the levels, guiding the movement and gaze of people immersed in an internal promenade that rises above the surroundings. The urban fabric of the city, San Luca, the Garisenda and Asinelli towers, emerge as prevailing environmental conditions, characterising elements that form a habitat and establish a context, a place to refer to.

The project is presented as a rough-hewn volume capable of producing multiple interpretations of profiles depending on the observer's position. An architecture independent of pre-established typological models, resonating with the scale of the surrounding landscape and capable of adapting to and grafting itself onto the different conditions of the 3 project sites, establishing diverse visual and spatial relationships with its surroundings.
The project proposes an articulated planimetric solution, designed to adapt more easily to the rocky conformations of the building sites. The volume that emerges is hewn from nature, defined by the irregular lines of the mountain profiles, in dialogue with its immediate context. The bivouac is characterised by a plurality of viewpoints that can be discovered along the approach path, which only reconstructs the overall image of the work at a later stage.
