Young and old… but always gold!

While only started in 2019, the Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition is already considered one of the most influential spirits contests all over the world. The reason for its importance is simple: it involves a large number of industry experts in its panel of judges (259 tasters for this edition!), and it is organized in a very structured and professional way. First a session of remote tastings at the beginning of the year, then a second session in Tokyo at the end of spring: all the spirits are tasted blindly, each of them is evaluated by at least eight jurors, and the result is complete fairness and impartiality of the results. Only taste matters in the end!

The ambitious goal of the competition is to rigorously judge all kinds of fine spirits: traditional Japanese ones, but also the best spirits from the rest of the world. This year the total amount of submissions was 832, a really impressive amount! Ron Millonario entered the competition with our two extremes: the fresh, light and young 10 Aniversario Reserva, and the rich, sweet, luxurious and very mature Millonario XO. Two very different bottlings that encompass the opposites in our range: a rum made for easy drinking and cocktails, and our behemoth meant for slow meditative tasting, maybe paired with a cigar. But in our opinion, both are of the highest quality, regardless of age and price point. And we are happy to see that the Japanese jury agrees with us, because they both received the same award!

And of course, we have to mention medals…
Not because we want to brag, but because it’s a fact. Once again, we won a gold medal, and we lost count of how many… We won it for the oldest, richest, most complex expression: Ron Millonario XO. It’s always great to see that one of our favourites, the one we put our hugest effort into, is always so appreciated. Thank you very much to all the jurors!

On May 4-6th, Ron Millonario attended the tenth edition of Rhum Fest Paris, as usual: we have attended all the editions, and this year we had the killer team of our flamboyant brand ambassadors Mario Navarro, Marie El Hanafi and Diego Mioto to dazzle the audience with cocktails and straight rum tastings. What could go wrong?

Well, as expected it was a success! We had a tactical organization at the fair, with two stands: one at the entrance, with Marie and Elisa catching the interest of the visitors, enticing them into the world of Millonario. Marie and Elisa had some fantastic cocktails, to tickle the fancy of anyone who tasted them. What was the secret ingredient? Millonario, of course! And that was the alluring secret which led to the discovery of the second stand, where the rums could be tasted neat: the new sweet and fruity Kuytchi and the classic XO have been the most appreciated ones.

The 10th edition of Paris is an established event for rum lovers in France, one of the countries where recognition for quality spirits has always been highest. Ron Millonario has always been present since the first edition, and we are happy to be back once more. Rhum Fest Paris will take place at the enchanting location of the Parc Floral de Paris on May 4th-5th (plus the 6th for professionals only), and we will have all our releases for tasting, including our latest spirit drink Kuytchi! But of course, also the classic Reserva Especial, the XO, and the two light and easy 10 Aniversario bottlings.

Once again, a triumph for Millonario at Falstaff Spirits Special

It’s not the first time that the German language magazine Falstaff loves Ron Millonario… Last year, our Millonario XO had won a very high score and the “excellent” rating from the magazine, and this year history is repeating itself.
In December’s special issue, dedicated to the best spirits in the world, Ron Millonario XO once again received a very high score and reached among the top placements in the Dark Rums category: 92 points, with particular praise heaped upon its fruity and nutty quality.

But we are also particularly proud of our new entry Millonario Kuytchi in the Rum Spirit Drink category: it’s the first time that Falstaff has had a chance to review it, and it received a very respectable score of 90 points. The tasters panel at the magazine commented that it offers vanilla, caramel, toffee, dates, milk chocolate, honey and so much sweetness. It’s a welcome reward for our latest creation!
Falstaff is widely read in Germany, Austria and Switzerland: founded in 1980 in Vienna, it is truly a point of reference for the world of gourmets. To see that an authoritative and esteemed magazine such as Falstaff definitely loves Ron Millonario, is for us a reason of great pride.

To honour Kuytchi, the Inca rainbow goddess, we have created a new spirit drink based upon Ron Millonario and enriched by precious natural aromas including cocoa and “dulce de leche”: deliciously smooth, caressing and velvety like the warmth of Peruvian sunshine.

Ricorderete forse che Ron MIllonario vinse una Medaglia d’argento due anni fa, al suo debutto alla Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition: fu la prima edizione di questo concorso dopo il Covid, ed era ancora difficile per le persone volare all’estero… ma il nostro rumo continuava a viaggiare nonostante tutto!

Sono passati due anni, e il TWSC è diventato ancora più grande: il numero di partecipanti quest’anno era talmente imponente che ci sono voluti tre mesi, a partire da fine gennaio, affinché i giudici completassero gli assaggi alla cieca per assegnare le medaglie.

E ovviamente, Ron Millonario ha di nuovo partecipato… ma o la qualità del nostro rum è ulteriormente migliorata, o i giudici apprezzano sempre di più il suo sapore eccellente! Perché siamo passati da una medaglia d’argento, a…

Millonario is the star in Orlando

On April 2nd to 5th, Ron Millonario has been proud to be one of the key products shown at the 78th edition of the WSWA (Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America), a historical event which every year gathers the most important players in the professional drinks business. It was an occasion to extend our presence in the USA, which is still a relatively new market for us but which is growing steadily.

This year the WSWA was held in Orlando, Florida: in spite of the vicinity to Cape Canaveral, we didn’t have plans for launching Millonario in space… but we certainly aimed for the stars. And indeed, we were the star of the show!

At the WSWA competition, we won 2 Double Gold medals for our classic sipping rums Ron Millonario XO and Millonario 15 Reserva Especial Rum Spirit Drink. And our younger and lighter Ron Millonario Decimo Aniversario Reserva won a silver medal, too. And not only these medals: at the “brand battle”, Millonario was acclaimed at the overall first place in the Rum category!

After this success, we expect Ron Millonario to be more and more known and distributed in the USA, so that our North American friends can enjoy the quality of our premium Peruvian rum.

Millonario è la stella di Orlando

Dal 2 al 5 aprile, Ron Millonario è stato lieto di essere uno dei prodotti chiave presentati alla 78ma edizione della WSWA (Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America), uno storico evento che raduna i più importanti commercianti americani di vini e distillati e i professionisti del settore delle bevande alcoliche in generale. È stata un’occasione di estendere la nostra presenza negli USA, che per noi è un mercato ancora relativamente nuovo ma in continua crescita.

Quest’anno la WSWA si è tenuta in Florida, a Orlando: nonostante la vicinanza di Cape Canaveral, non avevamo piani per lanciare Millonario nello spazio… ma sicuramente abbiamo mirato alle stelle. E decisamente siamo riusciti ad essere la… stella della fiera!

Alla competizione WSWA abbiamo infatti vinto due medaglie Double Gold per i nostri classici rum da degustazione Ron Millonario XO e Millonario 15 Reserva Especial Rum Spirit Drink. E anche il nostro più leggero e giovane Ron Millonario Decimo Aniversario Reserva ha vinto una medaglia d’argento. E non è finita qui: alla “battaglia dei brand”, Millonario è stato acclamato complessivamente al primo posto nella categoria rum!

Dopo questo successo, ci aspettiamo che Ron Millonario diventi sempre più conosciuto e distribuito negli USA, così che anche i nostri amici nordamericani possano godere della qualità del nostro rum premium peruviano.

Millonario Kuytchi - Rum Spirit Drink

Un omaggio ai nostri viaggi avventurosi in Peru, che ci hanno portato a scoprire , la montagna dei sette colori. In onore della dea Inca dell’arcobaleno, , abbiamo creato un nuovo spirit drink basato su Ron Millonario e arricchito con pregiati aromi naturali di cacao e “dulce de leche”: delizioso e morbidissimo, avvolgente e sinuoso come il calore del sole peruviano.

Naso: morbido, burroso, ricco di vaniglia, frutta secca, datteri e cioccolato.
Palato: caramella mou, cioccolato al latte, dolcezza di datteri, uva sultanina, miele. Liscio, sciropposo e carezzevole.
Finale: Caldo, dolce, molto facile da bere, invita a un altro sorso. Profumo mielato, ma pulito e non stucchevole.

Cari appassionati di rum, siamo felici di annunciare che Ron Millonario sarà ancora una volta presente al Rhum Fest Paris, nelle date del 1-2-3 aprile 2023! Quest’anno avremo uno spazio ancora più ampio (ESPACE 10), per accogliervi meglio e farvi provare comodamente tutte e quattro le nostre espressioni di rum peruviano.

L’eccellenza di al Falstaff Spirits Trophy
Falstaff è la più prestigiosa rivista di vini, ristoranti e viaggi nell’Europa di lingua tedesca: fondata nel 1980 a Vienna, è ampiamente riconosciuta come una voce autorevole, di grande influenza e rispettata.

È quindi con particolare piacere che abbiamo accolto la notizia che il nostro imbottigliamento top di gamma ha vinto un giudizio di “ausgezeichnet” (“eccellente”) al Spirits Trophy, i cui risultati sono stati presentati nell’ultimo numero della rivista, con un punteggio di 93 punti su 100 nella categoria “Rum scuri”.
Questi sono stati i commenti dei recensori di Falstaff per Ron Millonario XO:

“Ambra scuro con riflessi dorati. Note dolci di caramello al naso, prugne, noce di cola, leggermente affumicato. Ricco al palato, con un potente caramello che spicca insieme a note salate e piacevolmente amarognole. Finale molto pronunciato e persistente.”

A quanto pare la qualità di Millonario, nella sua versione più lussuosa e invecchiata Ron Millonario XO, sta conquistando il cuore di tutti: è la vetta più alta di una gamma che spazia dai rum più giovani e freschi per il mixing, a quelli più maturi e complessi da meditazione.

🔥Rome loves Ron!

In our previous newsletter, we invited you to join us in Rome for the ShowRUM which was held on October the 2nd-3rd… Were you among the hundreds of connoisseurs who stopped by our stand and enjoyed a chat with us? If so, we hope that our hospitality and our rums pleased you!
The event was very successful, and once again it was a wonderful occasion to showcase the quality and diversity of our Millonario range.

🥃We have now lost count of how many times Millonario has won accolades, and it certainly wasn’t the first time for us to win a medal in Rome: the tasting jury changes every year, but each time it involves some of the most influential rum experts… and each time we win an award!

🏅This year, we brought home the Gold Medal in the Solera Ageing category for our most luxury bottling: Ron Millonario XO Decanter. It’s our most complex, oldest, richest rum… and of course, its quality shines even in a blind tasting and without the obvious bling of the shiny decanter. This goes as a testament to how much we care for what’s inside the bottle, and for keeping the quality of Millonario as high as we can.
