International Centre on Interactive Books

JOURNAL EN LIGNE
Le Centre International sur les livres interactifs, hébergé par la Fondation Tancredi di Barolo à Turin, vient d’annoncer la mise en ligne du troisième numéro de son « JIB - Journal of Interactive Books ». Les textes d’universitaires et de spécialistes sont en italien et/ou en anglais.

Après un édito sur les nouvelles directions de recherches du Centre, le premier article expose les résultats des travaux en cours (d’Eliana Angela Pollone, Jacqueline Reid-Walsh et Pompeo Vagliani) sur la création d’un glossaire pour les livres interactifs, sujet qui sera bientôt approfondi au sein d’un groupe de travail international. Puis suivent les contributions scientifiques de Martina Tartaglia, Christian A. Bachmann et Michela Giacomelli ainsi que le compte-rendu de Nicolas Codron sur l’exposition pour le vingtième anniversaire de Livresanimes.com.
Enfin, un hommage est rendu à Pietro Franchi, ancien libraire de Bologne, collectionneur et érudit, décédé récemment. Il était notamment l’auteur d’« Apriti libro! », le premier essai en italien sur les livres à système du XVIe au XXe siècle (cf. nos actualités d’avril 2004).

Open CALL for PAPERS 2024

From 1 November 2023, the Call for papers is officially open in view of the publication of the next issue of the journal JIB - Journal of Interactive Books scheduled for April 2024.
The journal will consider scientific contributions regarding interactive books of historical interest, as well as contemporary books both material and virtual. Also articles about the description/cataloging, restoration and enhancement of interactive books are welcome. In addition to scientific articles there is a specific section devoteted to reports of conferences, exhibitions and book reviews.

Jacqueline Reid-Walsh, Full professor of Curriculum and Instruction and Women's, Gender and Sexuality studies arrived in 21 September in Turin from Pennsylvania State University to spend a sabbatical year at the Fondazione Tancredi di Barolo on the theme of Interactive books. She has been part of the Pop-App International Centre as a member of Scientific Board on Interactive Books since its inception and has always supported its activities. Her stay as visiting professor was made possible thanks to a welcoming agreement with the Dipartimento di Filosofia e Scienze dell'Educazione - UniTo

This is the presentation of Jaqueline Reid Walsh with curators and conservators about a mid-17th century turn-up book. The item is called The Beginning, Progress and End of Man (ND) and is held in the special collections at the .

A unique handmade mechanical book with levers, titled “Le fiabe della Zia Mariù”, a changing picture book titled “Voici le marchand d’image a surprise”, a tab and flap book “Surprise picture from fairy land” and the scenic book “Théatre Miniature”.
For every book, first the animated mechanism and the state of conservation will be described and investigated, and than we will focus specifically to the conservative operations undertaken for the animated mechanisms and figure...

Nell'Ottocento l'editoria propone il diorama teatrale in una versione rinnovata di libro "a soffietto" da osservare autonomamente attraverso un foro posto sulla copertina con le quinte collegate tra loro con piccoli sostegni di carta... nascono così i "PEEPSHOW" anche detti "LIBRI TUNNEL".
