#FrancescoVezzoli on view at #PanoramaMonferrato
Castello di Montemagno, open every day from 10 am until 7 pm

The two marble sculptures, respecIvely from the 18th and 19th centuries, are typical of Francesco Vezzoli’s arIsIc pracIce. The arIst, with a powerful and delicate touch, puts makeup on the sculptures, giving them a contemporary feel. The faces, adorned with Chanel and Dior make-up respecIvely, completely epitomize the idea of classy elegance, but in a saIrical vein that is a feature of Vezzoli’s work. And it is this saIrical aspect of the cosmeIcs, applied on the white marble to emphasize the features of the figures, reinforcing the somewhat patheIc aspect of their expressions, that adds a subtly decadent tone to the two sculptures.

Panorama Monferrato / #FrancescoVezzoli A region-wide exhibition curated by Carlo Falciani 4 - 8 September 2024 Francesco Vezzoli is one of the most internationally recognized Italian artists. His work spans across geographical and temporal boundaries, interweaving antiquity and pop culture, simultaneously using traditional and contemporary techniques. Vezzoli has always forged a meaningful yet irreverent dialogue with the past - be it ancient history, or the history of film, images, or power. An anarchist at heart, the artist skilfully subverts entrenched value systems by using rhetorical devices such as antithesis and hyperbole, and sparking semantic and temporal shifts. #SamFalls takes part in the exhibition “I Feel the Earth Whisper”, on view until November 3, 2024 at @friederburda, in Baden-Baden. The group show is a response to the museum’s unique history and positioning in Baden-Baden. The town is steeped in the tradition of healing and restoration due to its mineral-rich thermal waters and historical bathhouses, and hence connects with the show’s concept of healing on multiple levels – physical, emotional, and environmental – calling for environmental stewardship and inspiring a harmonious relationship with ourselves and the Earth. - @samfalls #FriederBurda #MuseumFriederBurda #IFeelTheEarthWhisper #artandnature #exhibition #groupshow #contemporaryart Video © Museum Frieder Burda

#FrancescoVezzoli collaborated with @themagiccollection.retreats to work on the Saint #Cocteau suite in the in #MagicMegeve chalet. The artist crafted “La Stanza del Sonno” and dedicated it to Jean Cocteau, who loved Megève very much. The tailor-made project is a testament to Vezzoli’s admiration for the poet and artist and an indulgence in his nostalgia for iconic characters of the past. - @archiviovezzoli #TheMagicCollection #TheMagicCollectionRetreats #Art #Megeve #ArtChalets #ArtHomes #ArtBedrooms #meettheartist

#PanoramaLAquila opens today! A city-wide exhibition curated by @cristianaperrella A project by @italics.art 7 – 10 September 2023 Every day, at 5 o'clock, you can assist at the performance “quartets: antipodes” by #DarrenBader at Studio Marcello Mariani, via Sassa, 42. 7 September: 5:00 - 6:00 pm 8 September: 5:00 - 6:00 pm 9 September: 5:00 - 6:00 pm 10 September: 5:00 - 6:00 pm The work brings together two musical quartets (trios and quintets work as well) whose repertoires and/or sonic qualities have very little to do with one another. For example, the two trios seen here are a classical string trio and a common rock trio (a quartet could just as well be: classical woodwind, brass band, jazz quartet, four electronic musicians, barbershop quartet, etc.) Before a performance begins, each member of quartet a is paired with a member of quartet b. Ideally (per the work's title), each pair is then sent to a location (somewhat) remote from the other three pairs. The pairs all communicate (telecommunications likely) so as to be able to begin their sets simultaneously. Each quartet's set will come to an end when it comes to an end (i.e., the quartets are not very likely to finish their respective sets at the same time). Though the work's current location doesn't accommodate "antipodal" remoteness, it does achieve the sonic qualities the work requires (some people may consider it dissonance). Close your eyes perhaps and imagine yourself somewhere else as well as somewhere else as well as somewhere else as well as somewhere else. 🗓️ Discover the complete agenda of the four days of Panorama L’Aquila at www.italics.art or through the link in our bio! - Panorama L'Aquila is realized with the support of @comunelaquila and under the patronage of @unesco and the Ministry of Culture (@mic_italia). #SAVETHEDATE 📌 Panorama L’Aquila / #DarrenBader A city-wide exhibition curated by Cristiana Perrella 7 - 10 September 2023 From the Caffè Fratelli Nurzia to the Casino delle Delizie Branconio, from the Castello Cinquecentesco to the Palazzo Rivera... but also bakeries, bookstores, record stores, restoration workshops, as well as museums and aristocratic palaces, all the way to the piazzas and the sky above the city: all these places will host works of ancient, modern and contemporary art, rendering a new image of the Abruzzi capital, a composite portrait made up of both its historical monumentality and the industriousness of daily life. It is through this kaleidoscope that L’Aquila is preparing to host works, performances and site-specific contributions by more than 50 Italian and foreign artists from different eras, for an intense four-day marathon where art, artists and the city will be the ultimate protagonists. A multi-venue exhibition that blends diverse visions, poetics and languages, including the great names in Art History, international voices, established Italian artists, or those in mid-career or emerging. Emphasizing Panorama’s desire to establish deep and lasting connections with the social fabric of the Abruzzo capital, the entire Public Program of this third edition is open to the public, with screenings, panel discussions, talks and presentations. Visit the @ngadc to see “Today (News from Kabul)” by #MarioGarcíaTorres now part of the National Gallery’s exhibition “The Double: Identity and Difference in Art since 1900,” on view until October 31, 2022. Mario García Torres explores the war in Afghanistan through art, struggling to come to terms with violence there and at his home in Mexico. García Torres was inspired by Alighiero Boetti, the Italian artist who opened the mysterious One Hotel in Kabul more than fifty years ago. The artist talks about how he transformed Boetti’s poetic mirror-writing into a concrete presentation of the news of daily violence suffered by the Afghan people. Through art, “The Double” explores enduring questions of identity and difference, especially self-identity as defined by our own unconscious, by society, and by race, gender, and sexuality. - #washington #Art #NationalGalleryOfArt #MarioGarciaTorres #AlighieroBoetti #Kabul #Afghanistan #Mexico #ArtePovera #ConceptualArt #MirrorWriting © National Gallery of Art

Do not miss the extraordinary exhibition "The Tiger's Tail" by #DaraFriedman, on view in the church of San Carlo in Cremona, until September 9, 2022. Here’s a beautiful interview with the artist. "...The vesica piscis is when two things come together and overlap and become a third thing that is greater and you can see this as cosmically, you can see it as planetary motion. They talk about the vesica piscis as being the halo, they talk about the vesica piscis and the mandorla vertically as the vagina. It's everywhere, it's a shape that reveals itself in nature and sort of found its way in art and architecture, mostly in the art of the divine. There is something very special about this, it's the thing and the shadow of the thing…” Dara Friedman - #sancarlo #sancarlocremona #cremona #exhibition #labyrith #architecture #contemporaryart @dara_friedman @form_thecreativegroup

Here’s a beautiful video of the scenographic exhibition "The Tiger's Tail" by #DaraFriedman, on view in the church of San Carlo in Cremona, until September 9, 2022. “The Tiger’s Tail” labyrinth drawn in bright chalk on the terra-cotta floor of San Carlo, strains against the edges of the nave, the drawing’s centrifugal force expansive yet held. The monumental drawing is temporary, perhaps similar to a Buddhist mandala, marking an exquisite and passing time. Surprisingly within the central “perfect” oval of “The Tiger’s Tail”, the “vesica piscis” form was waiting to be discovered. As a filmmaker Dara Friedman understands the labyrinth as another form of movie making. The path moves us through space, physically pivoting the body, changing our point of view to see the world (inner and outer) from various perspectives, as the filmmaker does. At the same time the narrative that we bring to this walk is our own, unprescribed emotional journey, with the possibility of creating a muscle memory of the event. Putting one foot in front of the other. Moving forward along a path whose end we cannot see, because it curves. Dara Friedman, “The Tiger's Tail”, 2022. In the exhibition “In the Pupil of the Panther”, #HenrikHåkansson shows new white monochromes, with sugar added to the paint to attract bees and wasps. An homage to Robert Ryman, they also comment on Malevich’s well-known white-on-white paintings from 1916, meant to usher in the end of painting. The disappearance of pollinating bees would be a more concrete, and more devastating, ending.
