Manifesta 15 Barcelona Metropolitana is officially open!
When invited to make a new commission for the Three Chimneys, ’s first sense of the building was that it should be left empty, transforming the now-defunct hydroelectric power plant into an industrial sculpture through an act of artistic denomination.
For Nelson, the venue’s importance lies not in its interior, but in the totemic nature of its exterior: a megalithic statement of power, not only from the perspective of energy, but also on political, economic, environmental and, above all, human levels. In response to this, he elected to intervene in the framing of the venue, reclaiming its brutalist attitude while manipulating the visitor’s (singular, personal) relationship to it.
To do so, Nelson built a shack with the remnants of demolished houses, old warehouses and other salvaged materials. His intervention, located on the periphery of the site, appears to have been here for many years, home perhaps belongs to a former worker or squatter. There is no sign saying that it is a work of art – it just exists, as if it has always been here. The visitor is invited to enter and become its unknown inhabitant.
Until November 24, 2024

interviewed by Malcom Pagani for the “Dicono di te” podcast
Francesco Vezzoli grows up amidst the love of his parents and grandmothers. From his parents' adult friends - whom he observes carefully from childhood - he learns to decipher the language of politics. His first trip, undertaken at the age of 17, takes him to Los Angeles.
He thinks it is difficult to find a self-definition while being constantly bombarded by inputs from the society in which we are immersed. In this interview, he tells about his path in the art world, which has allowed him to structure a career from which he would never think of withdrawing.
The new episode of “Dicono di te” is available on all free audio platforms and at the link in bio.

| “Houseboat for Ho” Publication Launch
On September 12, 2024 from 5-8 pm, Simon Starling will host the release the publication “Houseboat for Ho” at Café Pegasus, Den Frie, Copenaghen. At 6 pm Starling will read extracts from the publication accompanied by images from the book.
This beautifully designed and illustrated publication documents the realization of an award-winning public artwork on the West Coast of Jutland, Denmark. Built between the 15th of August and the 10th of October 2023, “Houseboat for Ho” was developed by the artist Simon Starling specifically for the low-lying village of Ho, in an area directly threatened by climate change-induced sea level rise.
Developed in collaboration with the graphic design team , Zurich and with a lyrical introduction by writer Dan Richards, this timeless, hardcover publication, illustrated by the artist’s own photographic images, documents the transformation of a pile of reeds into an Ark-like vessel.

running until Sunday!
at Castello di Montemagno / 10am -19pm
With this installation, Francesco Vezzoli not only evokes the past, but also reworks it, questioning the relationship between authenticity and artifice. The sculptures, reinterpreted in a modern key, become metaphors for a dialogue between different epochs, an ongoing conversation between what has been and what has become, in which art mirrors the social and cultural dynamics of the present.
The installation is completed with a special floral composition, strategically placed next to the sculptures. This bouquet, inspired by 19th century floral paintings, adds a further layer of meaning to the work. Flowers, a recurring element in the art of the time and in Vezzoli's own installations, symbolise ephemeral beauty, vanitas and the natural cycle of life and death. However, in this context, Vezzoli inserts them as the decoration of an antique salon of ideal and surreal beauty, ironically emphasising the absurdity of the human attempt to preserve and adorn what is by its nature destined to change and vanish.

"Fare un giro" Curated by Allegra Pesenti
Supernova, Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere, Rome
12 September – 29 October 2024
Opening: 12 September 2024, 6:30 pm
The work of Arturo Herrera confronts the conflicted legacy of abstraction with modernist strategies of fragmentation and repetition. For Fare un giro, the artist has chosen to activate the Supernova space on Piazza di S. Maria in Trastevere in Rome with a focused selection of serial and individual works that evoke associative relations to past and present, and emphasize the physicality of materials both within and around the works themselves.
The subtle juxtaposition of realities in Herrera’s visual language is drawn from his extraordinary archive of found imagery. Two series on view for the first time in this exhibition were produced during the artist’s residency at the American Academy in Rome between September and November, 2023.
Fare un giro, which translates loosely to ‘going for a wander,’ references Italian sites and cities in a presentation that is specific to place and space.

The two marble sculptures, respecIvely from the 18th and 19th centuries, are typical of Francesco Vezzoli’s arIsIc pracIce. The arIst, with a powerful and delicate touch, puts makeup on the sculptures, giving them a contemporary feel. The faces, adorned with Chanel and Dior make-up respecIvely, completely epitomize the idea of classy elegance, but in a saIrical vein that is a feature of Vezzoli’s work. And it is this saIrical aspect of the cosmeIcs, applied on the white marble to emphasize the features of the figures, reinforcing the somewhat patheIc aspect of their expressions, that adds a subtly decadent tone to the two sculptures.

A region-wide exhibition curated by Carlo Falciani
4 - 8 September 2024
We are excited to participate in the fourth edition of Panorama ITALICS with a special site-specific project by exhibited at Castello di Montemagno.
The exhibition curated by Carlo Falciani is inspired by the principles of “La civil conversazione“ a work written by Stefano Guazzo (born in Casale Monferrato in 1530) and published in 1574. Winding through vineyards, castles and churches, the exhibition is like a journey in stages through the towns of Camagna, Vignale, Montemagno and Castagnole, creating an original narrative that brings together the ancient, the modern and the contemporary. Once again, it explores an extraordinary corner of Italy.

to visit “A Model Epilogue: Tomorrow I walked to a dark black star”, the exhibition by held at , on view until September 8, 2024.
The exhibition becomes at once medium–object–subject, working together to tap into how we perceive things, and subsequently transform them. This reverse way of mounting an exhibition of an artist’s work in an existing exhibition, consisting in the addition of a layer to something already existing, gives way to an exploration of the potentials of both a group show and a solo show, disturbing and expanding their respective frames and temporalities.

Simon Starling's masked and moving straw puppet was originally part of the 2022 exhibition “Metamorfuoco” - roughly translated as "transformed by fire" - at the Galleria Estense in Modena, Italy. In an animated and lavishly illustrated lecture developed especially for Chemnitz, the straw man introduces himself - a storyteller, pedagogue and mask-wearing representative of Starling himself.

’s work, “Salò Chest of Drawers (three)” is on view at the NMNM - Nouveau Musee National de Monaco for the exhibition “Pasolini en clair-obscur”, on view until September 29, 2024.
While Pasolini preferred to describe himself as a writer, his work in cinema occupies a central place in his oeuvre. In the first part of the exhibition, clips from his movies flanked by works from artists such as Morandi and Pontormo, explore the way in which he drew on the work of painters from the past to compose his sequences, the second part of the exhibition shows how the writer-director symmetrically inspired those who came after him.

Panorama Monferrato /
A region-wide exhibition curated by Carlo Falciani

Francesco Vezzoli is one of the most internationally recognized Italian artists.
His work spans across geographical and temporal boundaries, interweaving antiquity and pop culture, simultaneously using traditional and contemporary techniques.
Vezzoli has always forged a meaningful yet irreverent dialogue with the past - be it ancient history, or the history of film, images, or power. An anarchist at heart, the artist skilfully subverts entrenched value systems by using rhetorical devices such as antithesis and hyperbole, and sparking semantic and temporal shifts.

The artist has since then extended his artistic path, which has led him to create a bridge between the reality in which we live and the history of art, directing his poetics above all to antiquity and its most solemn and sacral expressions.

Published by and edited by and Kajsa of Åbäke, “HOOK BOOK Almost 1000” is the new catalog which collects the over 700 hooks realized by the artist over the last years.
“Form follows function” is a principle of design which suggests that the shape of an object should primarily relate to its intended purpose. The sheer number and variety of hooks create a poetic frenzy of excited chaos. Between a whittled stick and large cast bronze, the materials and techniques run the gamut between low and high.

Our Story
Gli artisti rappresentati sono: Darren Bader, Pablo Bronstein, Tom Burr, Jeff Burton, Neil Campbell, Andrew Dadson, Lara Favaretto, Martino Gamper, Henrik Håkansson, Mark Handforth, Arturo Herrera, Gabriel Kuri, Phillip Lai, Jim Lambie, Jac Leirner, Robert Mapplethorpe, Paulo Nazareth, Mike Nelson, Henrik Olesen, Kirsten Pieroth, Steven Shearer, Simon Starling, Tunga, Costa Vece, Francesco Vezzoli.
