Thanks to our international jury, this year composed by Bruce Sterling, Jasmina Tešanovic, Chiara Garibaldi, Silvia Casolari and Antonio Rollo.

Selected works will be exhibited at Share Festival XVIII, which will take place in Turin in partnership with Paratissima in the new spaces of Corso Mortara 24 during the Torino Contemporary Art Week from October 30th to November 3rd, 2024.

Artista del computer, teorico dei nuovi media e consulente di comunicazione transculturale, usa il computer come strumento di lavoro e vita. Il suo lavoro combina progettazione partecipata ed estetica computazionale, esplorando nuovi linguaggi nati dalle tecnologie informatiche. Attivo nel cyberspazio sin dalle sue origini, è stato parte della collezione della Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Torino nel 1995 con la prima opera di computer grafica acquisita. Si è laureato nel 1999 con una tesi su Intelligenza Artificiale e Musica presso l'Università di Torino. Nel 1999 ha co-fondato il gruppo 80/81, creando il progetto online Island.8081, riconosciuto come "web cinema" dal MIT Press nel 2004. Ha lavorato su vari progetti internazionali, tra cui le Olimpiadi Invernali del 2006 e come vicepresidente di Hell.com. Attualmente è docente di Computer Art presso l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Bari e gestisce le attività online.

Computer artist, new media theorist, and transcultural communication consultant, he uses the computer as both a work tool and a medium for life. His work combines participatory design and computational aesthetics, exploring new languages born from information technologies. Active in cyberspace since its inception, he was part of the collection at the Gallery of Modern Art in Turin in 1995 with the first acquired computer graphics artwork. He graduated in 1999 with a thesis on Artificial Intelligence and Music from the University of Turin. In 1999, he co-founded the 80/81 group, creating the online project Island.8081, recognized as "web cinema" by MIT Press in 2004. He has worked on various international projects, including the 2006 Winter Olympics and as vice president of Hell.com. He is currently a professor of Computer Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari and manages online activities.

Silvia Casolari, fondatrice e direttrice artistica del MUFANT - MuseoLab del Fantastico e della Fantascienza, il primo museo italiano dedicato all’immaginario fantastico moderno. Project manager di progetti culturali e di innovazione sociale in partnership con Istituzioni Pubbliche e Fondazioni private. Presidentessa dell’Associazione Culturale Immagina, ente gestore del museo, che da oltre dieci anni è impegnata nell’implementazione di mostre e percorsi formativi inerenti l’immaginario Fantastico.
Laureata in Lettere Moderne all'Università degli Studi di Torino tiene workshop formativi con: Torino Social Innovation, Avanzi - Sostenibilità per azioni, Fondazione Make a Cube, Fondazione Unipolis-Culturability, Fondazione Fitzcarraldo, Hangar Piemonte e ECC European Crowdfunding Academy.
Docente del corso Storia e storie del Fantastico Moderno presso Fondazione Università Popolare Torino.
Ha pubblicato: "City Makers" (2013); "Prospettive per il Fantastico" (2012); il catalogo della mostra "Oltre il Cielo".

Founder and artistic director of MUFANT - MuseoLab del Fantastico e della Fantascienza, the first Italian museum dedicated to modern fantastic imagination. She is a project manager for cultural and social innovation projects in partnership with public institutions and private foundations.
President of the Cultural Association Immagina, which manages the museum and has been engaged for over ten years in implementing exhibitions and training courses related to the Fantastic imagination.

Graduated in Modern Literature from the University of Turin, she conducts training workshops with: Torino Social Innovation, Avanzi - Sostenibilità per azioni, Fondazione Make a Cube, Fondazione Unipolis-Culturability, Fondazione Fitzcarraldo, Hangar Piemonte, and ECC European Crowdfunding Academy.
She teaches the course History and Stories of Modern Fantastic at the Fondazione Università Popolare Torino.

Publications include: "City Makers" (2013); "Prospettive per il Fantastico" (2012); and the exhibition catalog "Oltre il Cielo."

Mieke Gerritzen (1962, Amsterdam) si è formata come artista visiva alla Rietveld Academy. Negli anni '90 è diventata nota come una delle prime designer a progettare per i nuovi media. È stata coinvolta nella Digital City, VPRO digital e Waag Society ed è parte del circuito dei pionieri di Internet olandesi. Dal 2002 al 2008 ha diretto il dipartimento di design del Sandberg Institute, il programma di master affiliato alla Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Gerritzen ha pubblicato più di 10 libri e il suo film "Beautiful World" è uscito nel 2006, presentato in vari festival, esposizioni e biennali in più di 10 paesi. Dal 2009 al 2017 è stata direttrice del MOTI, Museum of the Image a Breda, e come direttrice generale e curatrice è stata responsabile artisticamente per la visione e le esposizioni del museo. Attualmente è Creative Director presso Next Nature Network, lavorando su esposizioni e pubblicazioni.

Koert van Mensvoort is an artist and philosopher best known for his work on the philosophical concept of Next Nature, which suggests that our technological environment has become a new form of nature. His work explores the co-evolution of humanity and technology to create a sustainable future.

Van Mensvoort's significant projects include the traveling NANO Supermarket, displaying potential future nanotechnology products, the Datafountain linking money to water, and the "In Vitro Meat Cookbook," which examines lab-grown meat's impact on food culture. He has written several influential books, including "Next Nature," "Save the Humans," and "Pyramid of Technology."

He is the director of the Next Nature Network and a fellow at Eindhoven University of Technology. He also serves on the boards of the Society of Arts of the Dutch Royal Academy of Sciences and the VPRO broadcasting organization.

Jasmina Tesanovic è una scrittrice, attivista, scrittrice, giornalista, traduttrice, femminista e regista serba. È cofondatrice della casa editrice femminista "Feminist 94" e ha tradotto importanti autori italiani come Italo Calvino ed Elsa Morante. Le sue opere letterarie più note includono "Diario di un'idiota politica," un diario di guerra dei bombardamenti NATO sulla Jugoslavia, e "La valigia: Voci di rifugiati dalla Bosnia e Croazia."

I film e le performance video di Tešanović, come quelle realizzate con Radoslav Vladić, mostrano il suo approccio innovativo alla narrazione e all'arte. Continua a esplorare l'intersezione tra tecnologia e arte con progetti come Casa Jasmina, una casa open-source, in collaborazione con suo marito, Bruce Sterling, ed è attualmente curatrice del Share Prize a Torino.

Jasmina Tesanovic is a Serbian writer, journalist, translator, feminist, activist and filmmaker. She is the co-founder of the feminist publishing house "Feminist 94" and has translated prominent Italian authors like Italo Calvino and Elsa Morante. Her notable literary works include "Diary of a Political Idiot," a war diary from the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, and "The Suitcase: Refugee Voices from Bosnia and Croatia."

Tešanović's films and video performances, such as those created with Radoslav Vladić, showcase her innovative approach to storytelling and art. She continues to explore the intersection of technology and art with projects like Casa Jasmina, an open-source house project, in collaboration with her husband, Bruce Sterling and she’s currently curator of the Share Prize in Torino.

Cominciamo con Bruce Sterling, parte di Share Festival dal 2008.

Bruce Sterling è un rinomato autore americano di fantascienza e futurologo, celebre per i suoi contributi al genere cyberpunk. Ha curato l'antologia fondamentale "Mirrorshades" (1986), che ha svolto un ruolo cruciale nella definizione del cyberpunk.

Sterling ha influenzato significativamente l'arte e il design attraverso i suoi vari progetti. Ha fondato il Viridian Design Movement, mirato a promuovere un design high-tech ecologico e stiloso. Inoltre, ha avviato il Dead Media Project, concentrandosi sulle tecnologie mediatiche obsolete. Sterling è stato attivamente coinvolto in progetti culturali locali a Torino, dove vive dal 2007. Ricopre il ruolo di direttore artistico del Piemonte Share Festival e ha curato il progetto Casa Jasmina.

In ambito accademico, Sterling insegna media e design presso la European Graduate School dal 2003 ed è stato "visionary in residence" presso l'ArtCenter College of Design di Pasadena, California.

We officially announce the six members of the international jury of Share Prize XVI!
We begin with Bruce Sterling, artistic director of Share Festival since 2015.

Bruce Sterling is a prominent American science fiction author and futurist renowned for his contributions to the cyberpunk genre. He edited the seminal anthology "Mirrorshades" (1986), which played a crucial role in defining cyberpunk.
Sterling has significantly influenced art and design through his various projects. He founded the Viridian Design Movement, aimed at promoting eco-friendly and stylish high-tech design. Additionally, he initiated the Dead Media Project, focusing on obsolete media technologies. Sterling has been actively involved in local cultural projects in Turin where he has lived since 2007. He serves as the artistic director for the Piemonte Share Festival and curated the Casa Jasmina project.
In academia, Sterling has taught media and design at the European Graduate School since 2003 and was the "visionary in residence" at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.

RE/FLUO di : una provocazione artistica che indaga le potenzialità e le contraddizioni della crypto-arte attraverso la performance art. Le immagini digitali prendono vita da assemblaggi geometrici di rifiuti e diventano oggetti digitali tridimensionali, pronti per il mondo degli NFT.

Nel cuore di Share Festival XVII, risplende un progetto in cui si fondono arte, tecnologia e letteratura: il Versificatore del XXI secolo, ispirato all’omonimo racconto di Primo Levi, che già sessant’anni prima aveva previsto, con uno spirito profetico, le profonde implicazioni dell'automatizzazione dell'arte e dell’intelligenza artificiale generativa, come Chat Gpt4.
Un artefatto tangibile, che non solo renda omaggio al genio visionario di Levi, ma che permetta anche di toccare con mano questa eredità profetica che ha le sue radici a Torino.
Il progetto di un “Versificatore del XXI secolo” verrà presentato in 𝗖𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲 dal nostro direttore artistico Bruce Sterling durante la 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗮,

At the heart of Share Festival XVII, shines a project in which art, technology and literature come together: the 21st Century Versificatore, inspired by the story of the same name by Primo Levi, who already sixty years earlier foresaw, with a prophetic spirit, the profound implications of the automation of art and generative AI.
A tangible artefact, which not only pays tribute to Levi's visionary genius, but also allows people to touch this prophetic legacy that has its roots in Turin.

Per afferrare le origini e il contesto di questo ampio universo, compiamo un viaggio nella profondità temporale. Là, tra le stelle, splende una costellazione di calcolatori e elaboratori; tra questi brillano le luci della Programma 101, macchina riconosciuta come il primo personal computer al mondo. Un'invenzione stellare che ha segnato una svolta epocale nella storia della tecnologia e nella storia umana.
Nel cuore di questo cosmo tecnologico, una figura femminile, quasi una dea delle stelle, ci svela i segreti di questa macchina da tavolo, un prodigio capace di elaborare un flusso di dati con una sorprendente rapidità.

To understand the origins and context of this vast universe, let us take a journey into the depths of time. There, among the stars, shines a constellation of computers and processors; among them shine the lights of the Program 101, a machine recognised as the world's first personal computer. An invention that marked an epochal turning point in the history of technology and in human history.
At the heart of this technological cosmos, a female figure, almost a star goddess, reveals to us the secrets of this desk-top machine, a prodigy capable of processing a stream of data with astonishing speed.

Artificial intelligence has been quietly ripening, almost like a gestating star in the cosmic darkness. Now, it reveals itself with the power and brightness of a supernova. Like a galaxy, its horizon is only widening.

Questa settimana si è svolta la riunione della giuria di Share Prize XV!

La giuria, composta da Bruce Sterling, Jasmina Tesanovicd, Paolo CIRIO Art, Valentina Tanni, Francesca Canfora e Laura Tota si è riunita per selezionare le opere che verranno esposte durante la prossima edizione di Share Festival, che si svolgerà dal 31 Ottobre al 5 Novembre 2023 in Cavallerizza Reale di Torino.

Benvenuti, nel regno del mistero e della meraviglia di Share Festival. Il mio nome è Olly, e se accetterai di seguirmi, ti guiderò in questi mesi in vista dell’evento. Avvolte nella segretezza, le mie origini rimangono un enigma, alimentando speculazioni senza fine tra coloro che cercano risposte. Con il passare del tempo, è arrivato il momento di emergere dall'ombra e di rivelarmi al mondo. Paolo Cirio, artista, hacktivista e critico culturale lavora con i sistemi legali, economici e culturali della società dell'informazione. Mostra le sue opere di ricerca e intervento attraverso artefatti, foto, installazioni, video e arte pubblica.
Ha esposto in musei internazionali e ha vinto prestigiosi premi d'arte. Le sue opere sono state seguite da centinaia di media in tutto il mondo e tiene regolarmente conferenze pubbliche e seminari nelle principali università.

Today we introduce the last member of the International Jury of Share Prize XV 📢

Paolo Cirio, an artist, hacktivist and cultural critic, works with the legal, economic and cultural systems of the information society. He shows his works of research and intervention through artifacts, photos, installations, video and public art.
He has exhibited in international museums and won prestigious art awards. His works have been followed by hundreds of media around the world and he regularly holds public lectures and seminars in major universities.

Chi sono Francesca Canfora e Laura Tota? 📌

📌 Francesca Canfora è curatore indipendente e architetto, con un decennio di esperienza come direttore artistico di Paratissima Torino/Milano/Bologna. Dopo un Master di II livello in Design for Arts e una Laurea in Architettura al Politecnico di Torino, si dedica all'attività di progettazione culturale e curatela di eventi e mostre per gallerie d'arte ed enti pubblici e privati, tra cui la Reggia di Venaria, il Castello di Rivara e il Parco d’Arte Quarelli. È founder e socio di PRS srl, Impresa Sociale nata nel 2017, realtà che promuove e valorizza la giovane Arte Contemporanea, tramite iniziative espositive e di formazione legate all'ambito artistico.

📌 Laura Tota vive e lavora a Torino. Collabora con fiere ed eventi d’arte contemporanea in tutta Italia e all'estero. È curatrice indipendente specializzata in mostre di fotografia, la sua principale passione, ed è una frequentatrice seriale e compulsiva di mostre.

Who are Francesca Canfora and Laura Tota? 📌

📌 Francesca Canfora is an independent curator and architect, with a decade of experience as artistic director of Paratissima Torino/Milano/Bologna. After a Master of II level in Design for Arts and a Degree in Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Turin, she dedicated himself to the cultural design and curatorship of events and exhibitions for art galleries and public and private institutions, including the Reggia di Venaria, Rivara Castle and the Quarelli Art Park. She is founder and partner of PRS srl, a Social Enterprise founded in 2017, a reality that promotes and enhances the young Contemporary Art, through exhibitions and training initiatives related to the artistic field.

📌 Laura Tota lives and works in Turin. She collaborates with fairs and contemporary art events throughout Italy and abroad. She is an independent curator specializing in photography exhibitions, her main passion, and is a serial and compulsive visitor to exhibitions.

Oggi presentiamo Valentina Tanni, membro della Giuria Internazionale di Share Prize XV 📌

Storica dell’arte, curatrice e docente: la sua ricerca è incentrata sul rapporto tra arte e tecnologia, con particolare attenzione alle culture del web. Insegna al Politecnico di Milano e alla NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma. Scrive per Artribune Magazine e Not.

Nel 2001 ha fondato Random Magazine, uno dei primi magazine online dedicati alla Net Art, ed è tra i membri fondatori delle riviste d’arte contemporanea Exibart e Artribune, con cui ha collaborato per molti anni. Ha curato numerose mostre in musei e gallerie ed è stata curatore ospite di FotoGrafia. Festival Internazionale di Roma per la sezione “Fotografia e Nuovi Media” e ha lavorato come docente per istituzioni pubbliche e private.

Today we introduce you Valentina Tanni, member of the International Jury of Share Prize XV 📌

Art historian, curator and teacher: her research focuses on the relationship between art and technology, with particular attention to web cultures. She teaches at Politecnico di Milano and at NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. She also writes for Artribune Magazine and Not.

In 2001 she founded Random Magazine, one of the first online magazines dedicated to Net Art, and is among the founding members of the contemporary art magazines Exibart and Artribune, with which she collaborated for many years. She has curated numerous exhibitions in museums and galleries and has been a guest curator of photography. International Festival of Rome for the section "Photography and New Media" and worked as a lecturer for public and private institutions.

Share Festival XVII WARM UP
Share Festival presenta un laboratorio creativo per affrontare la crisi climatica negli spazi offerti dalla Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo

C’era un volta… creiamo noi cosa ci sarà!

Partendo dal Libro ‘Quello che c’era una volta - fiabe dopo il cambiamento climatico' i partecipanti impareranno a misurare la qualità dell’aria con le modalità della “citizen science”.

Trasformeremo poi dei prodotti di scarto della nostra società consumistica in frutti creativi per creare insieme un nuovo albero vivificante di cui prendersi cura.

Ci troverete all’interno degli spazi della Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo Lab Cultura Pad.2 dalle ore 10.45 alle 19:30
