Suited and booted for the King and Queen 👑
We were honoured to be invited to the special States Assembly - Jersey’s elected parliament sitting yesterday by the Bailiff of Jersey.
Past members from the first and second JYP attended the event in the Royal Square. It was so lovely to see each other again on such a special occasion. And doesn't everyone look great?!
Thank you for including young people in this historic event!
What do you want to see in Parade Park?
Parish of St Helier have a consultation open until 12th July. Please encourage any young person to fill out the online form.
Have your say on plans to refurbish the existing and create a new play space at Parade Gardens.

Children, Young People, Education and Skills
On Friday we teamed up with Andium Homes to run a consultation in Windsor Court Playground to find out what children and young people wanted in a town park.
We had some great discussions that included:
More accessible equipment, swings, equipment suitable for older children and more space for free play. Andium will be taking these ideas onboard so watch this space!
We are looking forward to working with Andium Homes to gather the views of children and young people about what they look for in a town park.
We will be at Windsor Court playground on Friday between 12 and 2 so pop along for a chat.
Any past JYP members that want to come along, meet at St James at 11:30.
Our 'Little Parliament' have been focusing on the environment recently and working on the 'eco pledge' that all projects have.
We have been out exploring the island that we want to protect, drawing wildlife, putting up bird feeders around St James and designing posters.
We meet each Tuessay 4-6 and anyone in year 6 is welcome to join!
Tell us what you think the future of JYP should look like and you could be in with a chance of winning a £50 voucher for a local shop of your choice!

We are organising a FREE day of activities in the Easter Holidays for anyone in year 6. The day is designed for young people to meet people from other schools, have fun and develop confidence.
We will be going out to learn about Jersey's history, take part in a debate, do some arts and crafts and many other activities.

HUGE well done to our members for presenting a fantastic presentation in the States Chamber yesterday to States Assembly - Jersey’s elected parliament
This marks the end of their 18 month term and it's been amazing to see them grow both individually and as a collective. They spoke with passion and confidence throughout their presentation and during question time, and have hopefully given Ministers lots to consider.
Thank you to the Children's Minister, Connetable Richard Vibert for presenting members with certificates. 👏👏

Celebrating by reflecting on an awesome 8 week leadership course. 💜
The amazing girls have covered a whole range of topics including challenging stereotypes, reflecting on strengths and values, identifying areas to work on, researching role models, discussing people's set backs and how to overcome them and setting goals.
We celebrated the final session Trapeze Yoga Jersey and the girls impressed us so much with their determination to challenge themselves and try new things. They each took home a goodie bag that they had designed. Thanks for a fab time, Stacy and Lisa will miss these sessions!
We had such an AMAZING day recently at our annual 'Little Parliament' day with year 6 students joining us from 14 different primary schools.
The young people spent the morning sharing ideas about what was impacting year 6's, what they want to change in Jersey and what they want adults to listen to them about. They then voted on the 3 most important topics and spent the afternoon building campaigns.
They utilised digital skills by making posters, writing letters to States Assembly - Jersey’s elected parliament, filming interviews and created a protest chant to perform.
The key issues for them were:
🎢 More affordable things to do
🚍 Better and safer buses
🍃 The environment
A huge well done to all young people that took part. They impressed the staff with their enthusiasm and passion and we loved seeing everyone make new friends.
We have weekly sessions for anyone in year 6 on a Tuesday (4-6), get in touch for more info [email protected]

Hands up who wants to see ziplines and climbing walls in more parks? 🙋♂️🙋♀️🙋♂️🙋♀️
As the evenings are getting lighter we took our 'Little Parliament' members out to St Andrew's to check out the variety of fun equipment they have for older children. They all loved challenging themselves on the climbing wall and seeing how fast they could go on the zipline.
We also liked how the trees from the storm had been left and turned into natural play spaces.
Our older members also loved these features when we did the 'Rate my Park' and you can read what they had to say in the play report on our website.
More ziplines and climbing walls please 🙏
Our members are nearing the end of their term on JYP and are finishing up with a project on people's perceptions towards teenagers.
We would love to hear from adults and teenagers and invite you to complete the anonymous survey. Please be honest and share with anyone you know.
Both surveys can be found here: https://linktr.ee/jerseyyouthparliament?utm_source=linktree_profile_share<sid=27c7ac7c-d4f5-434f-8a56-f7c9d728f33b
For any schools wishing to send students to our 'Little Parliament' day on 24th February please confirm with us by TOMORROW.
And any parents who have forms to return, please also do so by tomorrow so we have time to get everything prepared.
Lisa had a brilliant day in Scotland and is looking forward to sharing ideas with JYP members.
Thanks YouthLink Scotland 👏
Our 'Little Parliament' were recently joined by Jersey Youth Service 'My Time Project' for a brilliant session on the Battle of Jersey by Mel from Jersey Heritage.
The young people learned all about the battle and the painting. They then got to really unpick the painting and colour in their own versions.
Such an interactive way to learn about the history of our island and we look forward to seeing Mel again soon!
This afternoon we headed to the park for our 'Little Parliament' session. We had a play on the park and a run around and then had a chat about the Government of Jersey 'Dreaming Trees' installation.
We had a think about what trees may dream of and then had a go at drawing their dreams. The young people thought trees may have nightmares thinking they are going to get chopped down or damaged in a storm. They thought they may also have happy dreams thinking about flowers blossoming in the spring and how they may want to play sports with their friends. 🌳
We finished the session with cookies and hot chocolate cooked on the Kelly Kettle ☕🍪
Our members had a fascinating time on Monday being shown around the collections store.
Members got to reflect on how things gave changed and see some incredible parts of history including bikes, medical equipment, different games from throughout history, items from the war and pieces of technology. They also spotted a number of items saved from Fort Regent.
Thanks so much to Helena and Rowena for showing us around.
We are now 3 weeks into our course and are loving getting to know the awesome girls that have been attending. Activities so far have included:
🧏♀️ Looking at traditional images of leaders and how we can challenge that
🍪 Baking cookies to get to know each other
🖼 Creating vision boards about things that are important in each others lives
📃 Discussing the definition of leadership and what it practically means
👭 Identifying own strengths and choosing something to work on each week
This FREE course runs every Wednesday 4-5:30 for anyone identifying as female in year 7-9. If anyone else is interested in joining get in touch [email protected]
